Roman, Biggs Retain Their Titles at IWF "Evil Intentions" Events:
Dr. Tom Returns; New Tag Champs Crowned

(West Paterson, NJ)- While the Independent Wrestling Federation Heavyweight and American Titles remained with the current champions, new Tag Team Champions were crowned at "Evil Intentions Weekend" held Saturday, October 23, and Sunday, October 24, 2004. Here is a complete recap of the events held at the IWF Centre, West Paterson, NJ.

The main event on October 23rd saw three-time IWF Champion Roman defend against Outlaw Shane O'Brien in a Texas Bunkhouse Match. During the no-rules, come-as-you-are fight, both men battled toe-to-toe until O'Brien blasted the champ in the head with a chair. With Roman bleeding, the Outlaw looked to be on his way to victory until Roman grabbed hold of the cowbell on SOB's bullrope and knocked him silly. SOB's ally, Fred Sampson, appeared at ringside and hit Roman in the arm with a barbell. As the referee was trying to eject Sampson from ringside, SOB actually made Roman tap-out to an arm-bar. SOB broke the hold to get the ref's attention, but was rolled-up by Roman for the pin as the champ retained the title.

In a return match for the IWF American Title, BoneCrusher Fred Sampson defeated champion Biggie Biggs by count-out. The 275-pound champion missed a frog-splash off the apron to the floor, which allowed Sampson to roll back in the ring to beat the count. However, the title does not change hands on a count-out, so Biggs kept the gold.

With special guest referee Dr. Tom Prichard assigned to officiate the bout, the unlikely duo of Kevin Knight and Dangerous Dan McGuire ended the seven-month reign of IWF Tag Team Champions Shawn Donavan and Travis Blake.

In a Triple Threat Elimination Match, IWF Junior Heavyweight Champion Aaron Stride defeated Sean Royal and Antonio Rivera to retain the title. Royal eliminated Rivera, then Stride defeated his friend Royal to extend his two-month reign.

In other action, Tony Torres and Shayla defeated Chris Steeler and Jana in a mixed tag team match; Playboy Vik Voorhees defeated Robby Morrison and Bryan Harley in a handicap match; and Handsome Johnny defeated Psycho in a match featuring wrestlers from Massachusetts' Chaotic Wrestling.

Day two of "Evil Intentions Weekend" on October 24th saw a rematch for the IWF Title as champion Roman, with Tom Prichard in his corner, faced Shane O'Brien, with Fred Sampson in his corner, in an "I Quit" match. To win, the opposing cornerman had to throw in a towel. Roman was on fire with an early onslaught against the Outlaw, busting him open in the process, but Sampson refused the throw in the towel. As Roman applied an STF submission on SOB, Sampson jumped on the apron in an attempt to break the hold, but Prichard struck Sampson in the back with a chair which prompted him to drop SOB's towel in the ring as Roman retained the title.

In other title bouts, American Champion Biggie Biggs defeated Fred Sampson in a Lumberjack Match to retain the title; and new Tag Team Champions Kevin Knight and Dan McGuire defeated Shawn Donavan and Travis Blake in a best two-out-of-three falls match to retain the titles.

In singles action, Playboy Vik Voorhees defeated Chris Steeler with Jana; and Tony Torres with Shayla defeated Handsome Johnny.

Sean Royal won a Junior Heavyweight Title Contender's Battle Royal, outlasting Antonio Rivera, Psycho, Pete Hanover, Nick Nicoletti, Carrie and Jordyn. Royal then went on to face IWF Junior Champion Aaron Stride, but was unsuccessful in his bid to regain the title. After the match, Royal inexplicably struck his friend in the face with the title belt in a classless display of sportsmanship.
