Monday Night Raw - October 25, 2004
Submitted by Doug Maynard on Tuesday, October 26, 2004 at 12:41 AM EST

The inmates are running the asylum. That's the theme for tonight and it must be true because I'm here doing the Monday Night Raw recap for the best damn wrestling website around today, Lords of Pain. My name's Doug Maynard and I'm the new guy who'll be bringing you Raw and each and every Monday night for the forseeable future. Did I say new? New to LOP perhaps, but I've been around. We'll get more into that in the weeks to come, but for now, only one thing matters. It's Monday Night and the WWE is in Des Moines, IA. It's live and it's time to get Raw. Good old J.R. and Jerry "The King" Lawler are the men who call the action.

We start off with action. Taboo Tuesday and the match, in all it's glory, between Raw General Manager Eric Bischoff and his wild & crazy nephew, Eugene.

Eric Bischoff versus Eugene (from Taboo Tuesday)

Eugene plays around at ringside. He's such a simple lad. Eric attacks as the bell rings and the kicks start to fly. Just call Eric "Hong Kong Phooey Jr."... Kicks, kicks and more kicks! Eugene has had enough and starts to "hulk up!" Eric fakes a leg injury, but lands a good sucker kick to Eugene. Sucker! Eugene throws some fists and a long airplane spin. We change Air Traffic Controllers three times while Eugene has Eric in the air. Boot and legdrop by Eugene and he gets the pin.
    Winner: Eugene

Coach comes out and shows the Taboo Tuesday voting results. The fans want Eric to have his head shaved. Coach says Eric will be Eugene's servant for five minutes. Here's Vince with the power-walk from hell! No chance for Eric and Coach to get out of it! Eric gets a haircut or "He's Fired!" Eugene starts cutting Eric's hair. Coach tries to leave, but Vince thinks Coach should wear the dress. Strip and put on the dress. Coach reluctantly complies. Funny stuff. Vince rags on Eric about all the gray in the head. Vince chases Drag Queen Coach off and sends Eric and Eugene to the back to finish the haircut!

Back to live TV. Here comes Eric Bischoff and he's not happy! Is he ever? He's sick and tired of everyone and everything scvrewing around with him. Eric shows the haircut before quickly putting back on his hat. He blames the fans for trying to do his job. If anyone can do a better job, then fine. Eric gives himself the night off! The inmates can run the asylum.

Later tonight: Shelton benjamin defends the Intercontinental Championship against Chris Jericho.

Evolution decides to come to the ring. By the way, Happy Anniversary to Triple H and Stephanie McMahon who have been married for one year today. HHH gets the mic and says that Evolution is in charge of Raw tonight. HHH tells Ric Flair he can have anything he wants. Ric wants Randy Orton. So HHH orders Ric Flair versus Randy Orton for tonight! Randy comes out! He doesn't take order from HHH or anyone. He's a "Legend Killer" and has already beaten Flair. Orton wants HHH and the World title. HHH says OK. If Orton beats Ric Flair, he gets a title shot. If Ric wins, Randy never gets another title shot at HHH again. Ric & HHH bait Randy for a few seconds and Randy agrees.

Lawler and Ross talk about the IC title match at Taboo Tuesday. Shelton Benjamin won 37% of the vote. We see a brief clip of Shelton pinning Y2J to win the title from the PPV. Tonight is the rematch. And it's coming up next!

A cool commercial airs for the new Palystation 2 "WWE Smackdown versus Raw" video game with Stacy "Leggs" Keibler and Torrie "Love's them apples - heh! heh!" Wilson. Cool commercial. The girls are lousy actors, but they sure look good at it anyhow.

WWE SLAM OF THE WEEK: From Taboo Tuesday, Edge walks out on Chris Benoit during the World Tag Team Championship match against La Resistance. Benoit rallies and captures the titles on his own.

    INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP
Shelton Benjamin (c) versus Chris Jericho

The match starts off slowly with lots of good basic wrestling and reversals. We even see a little amatuer wrestling showcase. Finally Y2J has had enough and throws a forearm. Shelton uses a knee and some fists. He goes for the "Stinger Splash" but Jericho misses and Shelton crashes to the floor. Jericho with a crossbody from the top to the floor on top of Shelton. Both men are down and we go to commercial. We come back and Y2J has Shelton bent over his knee. Shelton fights back, but Y2J lands a clothesline for 2. Y2J and Shelton exchange fists and kicks. Shelton with a sloppy Frankensteiner in the corner and both men are down again. Y2J is up first and the fists are flying again. Shelton with the flying forearm for two. Y2J hits a clothesline and gets 2. Lots of roll-ups and reversals by both men as they each get several two counts. Jericho goes for the "Walls of Jericho" and Shelton rolls him up with a bodyscissors to get the pin.
Winner and still Champion: Shelton Benjamin

Jericho shakes Shelton's hand and leaves up the ramp to allow Shelton to bask in the glory of his win. Here comes Christian from out of nowhere. Bask on this, Shelton! The "CLB" lands some kicks and gives Shelton a good slap and the "Unprettier". Peeps around the world rejoice. Christian poses with the belt and send out some love to all his peeps! The "Christian Coalition" will be celebrating high and mighty tonight!

We see Eric Bischoff and Coach (who forgot his dress) sitting in the back watching the moniter. They're enjoying a drink and watching the show.

We cut to Evolution talking to new Raw Diva Christy Hemme. She's a party girl and Ric wants to party with her "all night long". The sound was cutting in and out here, but Christy said something about already having plans. Y2J walks by and bumps HHH. Evolution takes offense. They confront Y2J, but the locker room has his back as Maven, Chris Benoit, Rhyno, Hurricane, Rosey and Tajiri all show up. Benoit asks, "Is there a problem?". Evolution back out of the room quickly. No problem!

Lawler & Ross talk about Edge and his behavior at Taboo Tuesday. We see a video clip entitled "Edge Goes To White Castle"... oops. Wrong video. That was a kick-ass cool movie though. Here ya go! Highlights of Edge at "TT". The fans vote for HBK and Edge throws a tantrum, calling HBK a selfish S.O.B. Edge and Benoit team to take on La Resistance for the Tag Titles, but Edge takes a walk and leaves the arena. Later that night, HBK nails HHH with a superkick. He's going for the gold. Spear by Edge and it's kiss those title hopes goodnight! HHH pins HBK. Edge hollers from the stage, "It should have been me!" Interview with HBK and Edge coming up next!

We see some clips from Harlem, NY as Mick Foley takes the time to read to some kids from his new book, "Tales From Wrescal Lane". Its on sale everywhere. Buy it now!

We see J.R. in the ring. Edge has refused to appear in person tonight. (By the way, congratulations to Edge. He got married this past Thursday. I hope he remembered the pre-nup agreement!) J.R. asks Edge to explain himself. Edge rambles about the injuries he's suffered, how he's beaten HBK, Benoit and HHH and the fans took him for granted. He was booed in his home town. His life has changed because of 6%. The people don't deserve to see him and he'll be back when he's good and ready! (Enjoy the honeymoon! Have her holler my name!) Now it's HBK's turn to address the fans. HBK comes out and does a long winded talk about Taboo Tuesday and the fans. He did what he did and all the WWE Superstars do it for the fans. You know, between the"debate" last week and this stump speech, I wonder if HBK is eyeing politics in the future? I'd vote for him. He likes to show off and he will be back! It's all about the fans and thank you!

Todd Grisham is in the back with Maven. He's ready to step up to the plate. Here's Batista. He cuts in on Maven and has something to say. Maven ain't taking it and says how about Maven versus Batista right now? Dave says Maven isn't worth the time or energy! (But he's a Tough Enough champ!) Maven gives Batista a little slap and head to the ring. It's on.

    Maven versus Batista

Maven attacks with the elbows and fists. Batista with the boot. Clothesline by Dave and he's all over Maven with the fists and choke. Dave does some clubbering and drops Maven across the ropes. A boot to the head and Maven tumbles to the floor. Batista makes Maven eat steps, but Maven puts Dave into the fan barrier. Dave throws some more clubbing forearms, but Maven fights back with some fists and a dropkick. Batista splats Maven. Maven hits an elbow and goes to the top. Missle Dropkick by Maven, but Batista just swats him away. Batista goes for the powerbomb, but Maven slides down the back and locks in a sunset flip to get the pin.
    Winner: Maven

Maven is out on the ramp after the match. Batista decides to be a sore loser and go after Maven, but Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho come out and raise Maven's arms in victory. Batista thinks better of attacking and backs off.

We see video of Chris Nowinski and Mark Henry at a "Smackdown Your Vote" rally this past week from "Sacred Heart University". Be sure to remember to vote on November 2nd.

Time to flashback to Taboo Tuesday as we see clips from the Kane - Gene Snitsky match. The fans wanted a chain. Snitsky uses a chair and gives Kane a taste of his own medicine with the "Chair Throat Stomp". Kane is out of action for a while. To add insult to injury, Snitsky dumps Kane off the stretcher as well.

    William Regal versus Gene Snitsky

Gene attacks Regal as he makes his way down the ramp. Sneaky ambush. It's not even really a match - just a complete squash. The bell rings and Gene hits a clothesline and pumphandle slam for the pin.
    Winner: Gene Snitsky

Eugene and several officials are out to check on Regal. Snitsky gets the mic. He did what no one else could do - he destroyed Kane. He will destroy anyone else in the Raw locker room as well! What happened to Kane's baby was not his fault. What happens now and all the destruction he causes from now on - that will all be his fault!

WWE MONSTER JOB OF THE WEEK: From Taboo Tuesday, the Raw Divas are dressed like school girls. Trish eliminates Molly in the end to get the win.

We see Lita in the back. Here's Trish. She rags on Lita a bit about how many careers she's destroyed (Matt Hardy, Kane) and then gets on Lita about her extra weight! She calls Lita "chubby". I love "Bitch" Trish. She is hilarious. Lita has enough and just tears into Trish. CAT FIGHT! Victoria and the refs break them up!

SMACKDOWN REBOUND: Booker plays the headgames with JBL and calls Orlando a "house boy". Funny! In the end, Booker nails JBL with the scissors kick to get the pin. Now can you dig that, sucka! We see the final eliminations to determine who is going to be "Tough Enough". Marty is caught lying and gets cut! Bye Marty! Bryan gets hurt, but he's going to OVW. In the end, eight men are picked. We start the fun and games next week on Smackdown.

We see HHH in the back telling Ric Flair he can't lose tonight. HHH is upset! Ric calms things down and is the voice of reason. They're Evolution. HHH is the champ. Ric is a legend. They're unbeatable. Wooooooooo! HHH and Batista have Ric's back!

    Ric Flair versus Randy Orton

Randy with the hiptoss and fists. Ric chops away. More fists and a backdrop by Orton. Ric begs and then it's to the eyes. Orton nails Flair with a clothesline that puts him on the floor. Orton follows. Chop by Ric. Randy with a kick and suplex on the floor. Randy gets two. Randy pounds Ric. FLAIR FLOP # 1. Randy puts Ric in the corner and charges. Ric moves and Randy eats ringpost. (Commercial) We come back and Ric & Randy are exchanging chops and fists. Ric hits an elbow and goes to the top. Orton nails the big slam on the "Nature Boy!". Orton goes to the top for the crossbody, but it's crash and burn as Ric drops out of the way. Orton banged the knee and Ric goes to work in vintage Ric Flair style. Ric clips the leg and just kicks and stomps away. Figure Four by Ric. Wooooo! Randy reverses after a few minutes of pains, blues and agony. Randy cradles Ric for two. Chops and fists are exchanged and Randy nails Ric with the backdrop. Dropkick by Orton for 2. Powerslam by Randy and he nails the RKO. Here's Batista out. Benoit, Maven and Jericho come out and attack Batista, driving him to the back. The ref is distracted. From the other side, HHH nails Randy with the chair. Ric rolls on top and gets the pin.
    Winner: Ric Flair

Ric and HHH are backing up the ramp. They won. All is well. Not! Here are Benoit, Jericho and Maven back out. HHH and Ric head back down to escape through the crowd. Nope! Here's Hurricane, Rosey & Eugene blocking the way. How about on the other side? Nope again! It's Rhyno, Tajiri & Shelton. HHH and Ric are trapped. They get in the ring. Ric backs into Randy Orton. Orton nails the RKO on the "Nature Boy!" HHH tries to run, but he's trapped and caught. Maven nails HHH with a punch. Benoit snatches him up and it's time for a triplex. Jericho hits the lionsault and Randy finishes it off with the RKO for HHH. Orton and friends stand over a fallen HHH as the show ends.

A pretty good show. HBK was on the campaign trail (he loves the fans) and Edge is tired of being taken for granted. This show had it all. A little too much talking at the start for my taste, but the action picked up soon enough with three really good matches. Shelton versus Jericho was a little rough at times. The chemistry didn't seem to be there with these two at the beginning, but they pulled it together in the end. And since Christian attacked Shelton, you gotta know those two will be hooking up for some great matches. Maven versus Batista was too short, but it might be the start of something good for Maven so I won't complain. And Ric versus Orton. It was Ric Flair so it had to be good! It wasn't as good as the PPV match last Tuesday, but when it's the Nature Boy in the ring, even bad is good! Let's recap the matches and close this bad mama-jama up!

Shelton Benjamin defeated Chris Jericho to retain the Intercontinetal Championship.
    Maven beat Batista
    Gene Snitsky defeated William Regal
    Ric Flair beat Randy Orton.
