On November 13, 2004, the Holiday Inn in Carteret, NJ (just minutes off the NJ Turnpike, Exit #12) will play host to some of the greatest legends the professional wrestling game has to offer, as well as vendors from around the country. This will be a great place to reunite with some of the stars that captivated audiences throughout the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s, share memories with other fans and collect autographs, merchandise and other memorabilia. The convention will culminate with a Q&A featuring several of the legends (hosted by WBAI-FM DJ Evan Ginzburg).
Superstar guests include:
Hillbilly Jim
At 6’7 320 pounds this beloved figure was part of a WWF Hillbilly Family including Uncle Elmer, Cousin Luke & Cousin Junior. Feuding with the likes of Don Muraco, Roddy Piper, King Kong Bundy and many other legends, he also participated in the famous Wrestlemania 2 Battle Royal won by Andre The Giant. In a notable storyline, Hillbilly Jim’s wrestling boots were given to him by none other than Hulk Hogan. He looks forward to meeting his many fans and makes a rare autograph appearance at Wrestling Reunion II.
Jacque Rougeau (The Mountie)
From the legendary Canadian Rougeau wrestling family, Jacque was both 3-time WWF tag champ as The Quebecers (with Carl Ouelette) and the WWF Intercontinental champion as The Mountie. The holder of many regional belts, a career highlight was his scoring a clean pin victory over Hulk Hogan in Montreal in 1997. Jacque was also one half of the Fabulous Rougeau Brothers with Raymond Rougeau and later in his career part of WCW’s Team Canada. He has opened a wrestling school in Montreal and looks forward to meeting his fans at Wrestling Reunion II.
Terry Taylor
This former PWI Rookie of the Year (1980) went on to win innumerable major titles including the NWA World Jr. Heavyweight, NWA National Heavyweight, Mid-South North American Heavyweight and Texas Heavyweight championships. Moving on to management, he helped booked WCW and was writer, producer, scout, commentator and involved in development for the WWF as well. With a high school and college wrestling background, he was a highly respected technical grappler as well as an equally effective heel. Terry Taylor makes a rare autograph appearance at Wrestling Reunion II.
Baron Von Raschke:
One of wrestling’s greatest villains, he held titles galore including the WWA World Heavyweight belt which he won from legendary Dick the Bruiser, the Mid-Atlantic TV title (defeating Ricky Steamboat), the NWA World Tag Team titles with both Greg Valentine and Paul Jones (where they defeated Ric Flair and Blackjack Mulligan), the Georgia Heavyweight belt and the AWA Tag Team Titles with The Crusher. A two time All-American amateur wrestler, he won the bronze medal at the 1963 World games and qualified for the 1964 Olympic team. Von Raschke main-evented all the major territories and even appeared in Chicago’s huge Comiskey Park in 1970.
The Warlord
At 6’5, 323 pounds, this massive warrior has wrestled since 1986 and was one half of the Powers of Pain with the Barbarian. Appearing on all the top PPV’s of the era and in a main-event arena run vs. Hulk Hogan, he is a former NWA Central States Tag Team Champion and a WAR World 6 Man Tag Team Champion (with Bob Backlund and Scott Putski).
Baby Doll
The daughter of Texas promoter Nick Roberts and successful lady wrestler Lorraine Johnson, Nickla “Baby Doll” Roberts grew up around the wrestling business and became one of the greatest valets in pro wrestling history with both Tully Blanchard and— after a classic angle— with Dusty Rhodes. “The Perfect 10,” Baby Doll lends sex appeal to Wrestle Reunion II.
Haku/Meng
Trained by Giant Baba, he’s wrestled under many names including Prince Tonga, King Tonga, Haku, King Haku and Meng (WCW). Regardless of his moniker, he is one of the fiercest competitors ever, with notable feuds against Demolition, The British Bulldogs, Goldberg, the Undertaker and Kane. He is a former WWF Tag Team Champion as one half of the Colossal Connection with Andre the Giant (having defeated Demolition) and was one half of the Islanders with Tama, managed by Bobby Heenan. In a notable angle he became King of the WWF and was known as “King Haku.” He was also part of Kevin Sullivan’s Dungeon of Doom in WCW and was the last WCW Hardcore title holder, defeating Terry Funk. Haku makes a rare autograph appearance at Wrestling Reunion II.
There will be several more major names to be announced in the weeks and months ahead.
Admission is only $10 at the door or $20 including a ticket for the all-star one hour Q&A session.
Bargain golden tickets are only $99 prior to November 1 ($125 afterwards). This includes admission to the convention, 1 autograph of each wrestler, a Polaroid of each wrestler, a free show poster and admission to the star-studded Q&A.
If you attended Wrestling Reunion I in June you saw nearly 700 fans and dozens of vendors come together to honor many of the greatest names in the history of the sport. The promoters vow to do an even bigger and better convention on November 13, 2004. Make your plans now to attend as tickets and vendor tables will go quickly.
