Take up thy wrestling boots and walk - Orton vs. Hunter thoughts

Welcome once again to the column that drinks too much and hurls in your mother in law’s spaghetti, Take up thy wrestling boots and walk. I’m the columnist who makes John Cena look like a grizzled veteran, Pt2, back once again to share my thoughts on all things wrestling.
Going to be a slightly shorter effort this week, due to time constraints. But I wouldn’t just leave you without your TUTWBAW fix!
I’ve been thinking about the World title a lot recently. There’s a lot of people who think having Randy Orton as champion is a bad idea. I’m not one of them, but I am one of the group who think it came too soon. I’m also in the group who thinks any de-push of Chris Benoit would hurt the RAW brand right now. He’s a fantastic wrestler, a face the fans want to see, and he throws up a lot of options for the RAW main event if they keep him around the top of the card.
But right now, the whole thing seems to revolve around Orton and Hunter - Understandably since Orton has just been kicked out of Evolution and turned face. To be honest, I’m not sure which of these two should come out of Unforgiven as the champ. I’m not entirely sure, but I have a feeling it would be better as Orton.
To take the title off him now would seriously dent his momentum. It wouldn’t help his credibility at coming back. They got the “suddenness”, for lack of a better word, of the RKO over when he beat Benoit. That will probably stay over for a long time. But if Randy Orton were to lose to another main eventer this quickly, it would make his win look like a fluke, and dent his credibility as a serious challenger.
On the other hand, Orton has been called the next Rock. Even though I’m a fan of Orton’s that is incredibly optimistic, but the Rock was at his best chasing Hunter as champion. In 2000, people tuned in to see the Rock trying to win the title over and over again, with Hunter just scraping through every time. When Rocky did win the title, everyone celebrated.... then a lot of people stopped watching, their goal achieved. The WWE may try and see if Orton will emulate the Rock’s success in that situation, of chasing Hunter.
Either way, Randy Orton has advanced a long way - he’s reached a point now where working with the likes of Benoit, HHH and Flair has helped him realise his potential, even faster than his Smackdown opposite number, John Cena, who was on the up but seems to have floundered a little at the top of the mid-card. Orton has had no such trouble though, and I do think it would be a shame for him to be cut off at the knees now. If Randy Orton doesn’t leave as Champion, I hope he comes out looking strong and is able to carry on much as he is now.
I told you it was going to a shorter one this week! My apologies, but I’m afraid time constraints prevent me from writing more. I’m moving shortly, and that will take more of my attention that worrying about Randy Orton right now!
Don’t forget that next week, You be the Booker returns with the final contest between Billy Arceneaux and Tinaali, and it will be the first contest put to a general vote! Send me your opinion, and YOU will pick the winner!
Please feel free to send me your thoughts on this column. You can contact me at takeupthywrestlingboots@gmail.com , and I reply to all mail recieved.
Until next time, thank you once again for reading.
