Although Steve Austin and WWE remained in close contact after Austin's leave, to the point where some still believed Austin would star in "The Marine," the two have generally not been in touch recently. Austin, who is currently filming "The Longest Yard" has pretty much withdrawn himself for the wrestling scene for the time being.
There are also some rumors going around that Austin is currently living with DDP, as the two show interest in Hollywood gigs.
