- Mike Demarco sent in the following:
Maven def. Test Crowd really loved Maven for some reason, and he got the win after Test missed the big boot and crotched himself on the top rope, allowing Maven to roll him up for the pinfall. Both guys were working really hard and Test was getting some impressive heel heat. Aside from a really light spinning heel kick that test bumped too early for, a real solid performance by both.
La Resistance def. Rhyno/Tajiri Rhyno always gets huge reactions in Buffalo due to us being a regular ECW stop. Massive heel heat for the champs, who won the match with their double-team neckbreaker, pinning Tajiri. Post-match, Grenier started singing the Canadian national anthem, only to be joined by Eugene, who proceeded to pick up one of the Quebec flags and carry it over his shoulder. When Conway noticed, Eugene turned around to look at him, accidentally taking out Greiner with the flag. Conway tried to rip the flag from Eugene's hands, but due to Eugene's super human grip, he was unable to do so. Bischoff ran down to control Eugene, telling him to leg go of the flag. He did, and Conway, who was still pulling on it went flying. Bischoff apologized to the Tag Champs, before giving Eugene the option of wrestling ANYBODY he wanted to tight, seeing as how he's had a bad week.
Eugene picked Bischoff himself as his opponent, and they exchanged a go behind amateur series before Eugene picked his uncle up in an airplane spin and rolled through, planting Bischoff on the canvas. Bischoff had enough and brought out Coach as Eugene's real opponent.
Eugene def. Coach Eugene was arguably the most over performer on the show which is frightening if you think about it. Anyways same comedy match as before, with Coach once again almost killing himself running the ropes. Finish came when Bischoff entered the ring to hold Eugene from behind to give Coach a free shot, only for WILLIAM REGAL~! to come to the young lads rescue, pulling Bischoff from the ring and nailing Coach with a right hand. This set up Eugene getting the Rock Bottom and People's Elbow for the pinfall. Post-match, Eugene gave his uncle a stunner and flew like an airplane all the way to the dressing room.
Batista def. Hurricane Crowd knew what was coming and chose this opportunity to head to the bathroom/food/merchandise stands. They really shouldn't throw out such obvious squashes on house shows, as the crowd really died once they found out who Batista's opponent was. Not to knock Hurricane, but even a blind man could have seen what was to follow. Batista won via pinfall after his patented "Chris Jericho Murderizing" lariat.
Next Lita came out, to the loudest face reaction all night, but when she started her promo about herself having a "week from hell" the crowd turned on her and a select few started the slut chants. She asked Matt to come to the ring to talk, and he did, only to be jumped by Garrison Cade. Leading to...
Matt Hardy def. Garrison Cade Some day I can tell my grandchildren that I saw Matt Hardy actually win a match live and in person. Anyway, Hardy got the victory in such a memorable fashion that I cannot remember it three hours later. Hardy was obviously favoring his knee, and got his hand raised by Lita post match, before he walked out on her. Just about everybody in my section was making separate "wow Lita looks fat" comments as well.
Fink and some crew member shot T-Shirts into the crowd, only to be joined by Eugene. If you can't guess what happened next then you might as well get shot in the balls with a T-Shirt gun too.
Ten Minute Intermission
Randy Orton def. Edge Crowd was 60/40 in support of Edge, but lots of "Randy" chants as well. Good match, although a few quiet boring chants broke out when Orton hit his trademark "five minute arm/chinlock". Batista came out to show Edge of the top rope, leading to Orton eventually rolling up Edge with his feet on the ropes to pick up the victory. Surprisingly loud pop for the finish and massive ovation for Orton post-match. Thank you Mick Foley.
Victoria vs. Trish Stratus w/ Tyson Tomko Finish came when Victoria went for a HUGE moonsult, and Tomko pulled Trish out of harms way. Trish them pinned her with her feet... on the ropes. You think the agents would make a mention that nearly every match doesn't need to end with a rollup or a feet on the ropes spot. Anyways post match STEVEN RICHARDS IN DRAG came out and kicked Tyson Tomko in the grapefruits. You know, for all the people who are into that sort of thing. People around me thought it was Molly Holly. I found that insanely funny for all the wrong reasons.
Chris Benoit def. Kane Same exact match they have been doing everywhere, and once again it tore down the house. One guy next to me who hasn't been watching for awhile was saying there was no way Benoit could beat Kane because he was too small. By the end of the match, with the great story Benoit and Kane told, he was jumping up and down chanting for Benoit. This is how it's done folks. Anyways, Kane tapped out to the crossface allowing Benoit to retain the championship.
Solid Show. Nothing awe inspiring, although if I hadn't watched Bad Blood and seen the Kane/Benoit match, I'd have likely thought it was absolutely fantastic show, largely due to the main event. Everybody worked really hard and fun was had by all. Me love me some pro wrestling.
