Report sent in by Mario B. Here are the results from Raw brand @ the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium. This building has a lot of history, during the eighties everybody wrestled in this place. I'm not sure of the exact capacitythis place holds, but it's only a couple thousand. And it was packed to the rafters, literally. And the crowd was insanely hot through out the whole show. It was quite a site to behold. 1. La Resistance interupts the national anthem and end up defeating the team of Val Venis and Matt Hardy. Good opener, lots of heat for La Res. and huge pops for Val and Matt (who doesn't live too far from here.) 2. Eugene and Regal come out for an interview, and get interupted by Garrison Cade. The match begins...Eugene is seriously over, and we should expect to see this guy for awhile still. Eugene wins with the People's Elbow and a Stunner. 3. Chuck Palumbo vs. Tajiri. Lot's of ECW chants..Tajiri broke Palumbo down with lots of kicks to the legs. Solid match with the win going to Tajiri via the green mist/kick of death. 4. Batista vs. Jericho. The first 10 minutes of the match was nothing but Y2J chants and Batista covering his ears and threatening to leave. You could see Jericho smiling from ear to ear, really enjoying himself. Good match, Jericho wins with his version of the Shining Wizard/Enziguiri that he does. 5. Victoria vs. Molly vs. Trish. These ladies worked their asses off in this match. Fit Finlay, the womens trainer, was sitting next to Finkle at ringside during this one. Trish steals the win after Victoria gives the Widows Peak to Molly. - She boots Victoria in the head and pins Molly who's out cold. 6. Randy Orton vs. Edge. Great match, lot's of interference by Batista. Orton's the man. He wins with the cheap roll up and gets both feet up on the ropes to get the 3 count. 7. Tyson Tomko vs. Rhyno. This one should have been closer to the start of the show imo. Lots of ECW chants for Rhyno. Looked like some mis-comunication from time to time. And Rhyno nearly fell out of the ring from hitting the ropes wrong. Tyson is still way green but they still put on a good match. Rhyno wins with the gore. 8. Ric Flair vs. Chris Benoit. - All I can say is WOW. The energy in this little building was crazy. Flair came out in an orange and silver robe looking like a million bucks. And he was smiling the whole way. It had been a long time since he'd been in the Memorial Auditrium. Benoit comes out and the pop was equally deafening. Crowd chanting for Flair and Benoit...and Flair being the consumate heel that he is, gets on the mic and says.."How dare you people chant for Benoit in MY house, I am GOD here!" Holy crap, the whole place started to boo. This was a site to see, crowd goes back and forth the whole match. Which probably went about 30 minutes or so, easily. And you can call Flair old and this and that..but the man can still WORK. A gazillion chops, all of Flair's old spots, and Benoit really put over every move that Ric did. Finish was Flair tapping to the Crossface. We didn't see the flying headbut or Flair's front flip up and over in the corner. You could see both of these guys knew this was something special and being in that building was the icing on the cake. Benoit got on the mic and said.." how much of an honor it was to make Flair tap in front of this crowd in this building..." Cool stuff for sure. Overall, probably the best crowd and live WWE event I've seen, ever. The wrestlers looked like they were impressed with crowd and had a lot of fun with it. They need to run smaller buildings more often. The engery in there tonight made me wish I lived around here in the eighties to see some of the matches that went on.
Biggest pops of the night : Flair/Benoit Eugene Orton Y2J
