While you are there you can catch up on all the latest news, rumors and opinions. It’s a win-win situation. It appears I am on a writing binge. The latest XY Files is up in the columns forum just waiting to be read. This week’s title is Men & Their Hens. The only way to understand the title is to read the column. If you missed Competition My Ass! last week it is still alive and well in the forum. Email me and let me know what you think. Seriously. I want to hear from you. If you’d like, you can even sign up for LOP’s message board and let me know right there on the board. Either way I want to hear from you. I’m interested to hear what everyone else thinks about Turner getting back in the business again. Just a quick little rant here. I have been looking forward to Impact’s debut like a little kid looks forward to Christmas morning. I live in the only area that won’t get to see the debut show. Here on the FSN Pittsburgh it is not starting until the 11th. So, don’t complain if you are in one of the areas that it is delayed til Tuesday. At least you get to see it. I’d like to thank the Pittsburgh Pirates for this. From now on, no Friday games please. You guys play constantly. TNA is only on twice a week. Thank you. BG & Konnan do the FBI warning this week. BG tells us about cable piracy complete with the “arrgghhh.” Konnan looks lost until it is time for his catchphrase and then he comes alive. BG ends it with a “Do the dang thing” and warns us not to come up wrong like him and Konnan did. We go to the usual video package of the last two weeks’ show. It starts with Ron “The Truth” winning the belt last week. Next up is the clip of Jarrett and Russo discussing the stipulations for his rematch this week and the birth of King Of The Mountain. Last up are highlights from the World X-Cup competition last week. If you missed the X-Cup last week, you can read about it here…HERE. Clip of team Canada arriving at the Asylum. Scott D’Amore is running his mouth to the team tin ant attempt to get them hyped. God I hope he didn’t yell the whole way from Canada cause that would make it one long trip. Welcome to the Asylum Folks. It is now open for business. Match #1Team Canada (Petey Williams & Bobby Roode w/ Scott D’Amore) vs. Heavy Metal (Team AAA) & Jerry Lynn (Team NWA) Jerry chants erupt from the crowd as soon as the ring announcements are done. Lynn and Roode go to work with some right, lefts, and a few stomps are exchanged. Hurricarana by Lynn and then comes the stomps. Kick to the head of Roode. Roode throws Lynn into the turnbuckle but Lynn blocks and returns with a tornado DDT. Roode goes for the scoop slam but Lynn reverses for neck breaker for two. Lynn tags in Heavy Metal and a bit of double-teaming goes on. Metal goes for the double drop toehold. Headstand spring off the rope into elbow by metal (Tajiri) and Lynn is tagged back in. Williams goes for the eye rake and knee to Lynn’s head. Tiltawhirl backbreaker by Williams. Flip piledriver by Roode but denied. Williams goes for springboard but Lynn flips him out of ring onto Roode. Canada is walking up the ramp to talk to D’Amore who tells them to get back in. Heavy Metal is taunting them from the ring while waiting for their return. Face plant on Williams by Heavy Metal. Blind tag to Roode from Williams and he comes in with a spear for Heavy Metal. Using his shoulder as a battering ram, he lays the damage on metal. Nice suplex by Roode for two on Heavy Metal. Bulldog off the top rope by Williams while Roode holds metal over his head for some nice tag teamwork. Next we have a quick series of nearfalls. Metal is getting the worst of it from Roode while the referee is distracted. The tag is made and Roode is back in legally. Quick tags back and forth for Team Canada. Heavy Metal goes for a dropkick to Williams but he also catches Roode with it. He reaches out for the tag but just misses Lynn’s hand. Roode drags him back to the middle of the ring and gets him in a camel clutch variation. Suplex lateral press for two by Roode. Roode with a right hand to Lynn. Lynn tries to get in but the ref stops him. Another nearfall by Roode on Heavy Metal. Snapmare takeover and Lynn finally gets the tag. He comes in on fire and lands a nice side slam on Williams followed by a sit-down powerbomb for two on Williams. Whip by Williams to Lynn and D’Amore is waiting to clip him but he causes a real nice ref bump instead. Williams attempts the Canadian Destroyer but Lynn counters with a Spinning side slam/ powerbomb for two. Heavy Metal goes diving off the ropes onto Roode. D’Amore is still swinging his flag on a stick around and tries to hit Lynn again with it but Lynn stops him. He goes for the cradle driver on D’Amore but Showtime Eric Young runs in hits Lynn with the stick. Williams sees Lynn down and hurries to cover him for the three count. Winner: Williams pins Lynn at 9:03. After the match Team Canada begins to beat on Heavy Metal and Lynn. Skipper and Sabin come running into the ring to help out shortly followed by some of team AAA. We now go to the back with Hudson who is talking up the King Of The Mountain match. He goes into detail explaining the rules. There will be three refs for this match and Russo will hold the belt. Hudson tells us that during the course of the evening he will be interviewing all the participants in the main event. First up for an interview is Chris Harris. Hudson wants to know what his strategy is tonight. Harris tells us how “all the pieces are finally in place. We’re all in the ring at the same time so the strategy is, you avoid a pinfall. Go in with all guns blazing.” Basically he goes over the rules again in a tough voice. Tonight will be a special night for AMW according to Harris because Dusty and Storm will get the tag titles back and he will be world heavyweight champ! Match #2 Alpha Male Monte Brown vs. Sonny “Ace in the Hole” Siaki As soon as the bell rings Monte is all over Siaki. Pummeling and kicking him, he gets Siaki into the corner with some devastating chops. Monte stops to growl and Siaki gains control with a kick to the neck. Clothesline and Monte rolls out for a rest. He tries to get back in but Siaki keeps knocking him back out. Monte starts throwing chairs in the ring and running through the crowd. Siaki leaves the ring and Monte charges towards him. Siaki meets him with a closed hand and then a clothesline. Monte in on the ground and Siaki is pummeling him. Monte returns with a punch in the mouth knocking Siaki for a loop. Monte lifts Siaki up by one leg and drops him face first across the bleachers. More shots to the heat of Siaki and them he stomps the crap out of him. A “You suck” chant is started by the crowd for Monte. Monte drags him back to the ring and then slams Siaki’s head hard into the steps. Monte scoops him up and tosses him back in the ring for a nearfall. Punches to Siaki’s stomach and back of the neck. Kidney punch and Siaki is hanging on the ropes unable to stand up on his own. Sideways suplex followed by double underhook and Monte tosses Siaki like he is nothing. Two count by Monte. Samoan drop by Siaki on brown. Back on their feet and boy are these two ready to go. Whips back and forth and an elbow to Monte followed by a series of knife-edge chops to by Lynn. Beautiful swinging neckbreaker using the ropes for some extra power by Siaki. A few go behinds and then Monte executes the pounce for three. Winner: Brown by pinfall at 7:10. The N-Y-C comes in after the match. They have a grass skirt, coconuts and lei. They start dressing Siaki up in the skirt and lei after hitting him with the coconut (Piper’s Pit memory anyone?) Kenney runs in and gets a few hits in before the double-teaming begins. Kenney comes back with a double clothesline and then the strap for everyone. Here comes Trinity to distract and they are all over him. Desire comes running in out of nowhere and spears Trinity. Desire has the strap and she goes after N-Y-C with a vengeance. Hudson has more hype for the main event. AJ Styles is up for his interview now. His strategy is this. AJ believes he’s “one of the favorites going into tonight’s match. One word… ladder! I’m one of the founding members of the X-D and that is known for no limits!” He tells us he doesn’t have to deal with Jarrett sneaking up on him because tonight they will be eye to eye. Raven comes on camera asking Hudson “why are you interviewing a white trash redneck about strategy. You should really be asking me. The strategy is to take out the opponents before going to the ring.” This is where he rains down on Styles with a flurry of punches. The Black Shirts come in and put a stop to that quickly enough though. We are treated to a video package highlighting the best two out of three series between Sonjay Dutt and Amazing Red. Tale of the Tape is shown next. Some of the points included how Kaz is ready and rested since he has only been watching since April 14th. For Red, it has been over a year since he held the belt. Most of that time was time off recovering from an injury. Match #3 X-Division Championship Match Amazing Red vs. Frankie Kazarian They pace around for a few seconds before locking up. Armdrag by Kaz. Lockup and another armdrag by Kaz. He shoves Red into the corner and lands some chops. Reversal and two deep armdrags by Red followed by a kick. Kaz shoots off the rope and goes for the dropkick but Red does the same from the mat. Flip dive over the top onto Kaz outside the ring. Hurricarana off the apron by Red. Kicks to Kaz by Red and he gets back in the ring for a rest. Kaz is making a time out sign with his hands but then he springs in for a DDT and Red moves out of the way. Chinlock on Red by Kaz but Red turns it around and elbows out. Kaz hits Red with a dropkick knocking the wind out of him. He fires Red into the corner and follows with a stiff kick for two. Kaz whips Red into the corner and goes to charge but Red gets the foot up. Kaz back on the offense and scores another nearfall. He starts choking Red on the ropes but the ref breaks it. Kaz springboards off the top rope onto Red for two. Punches to Red followed by a whip, reversal, floatover and finally Red spikes him with a DDT. Kaz goes in with a punch and misses. Red shoots Kaz off the ropes and lands a back bodydrop. His headscarf is knocked off in the process showing the reason for his nickname, his dark red hair. Beautiful flowing moves for two on Kaz. Red nails the Code Red for another two. Walk up kick to the face by Red. Kaz grabs a quick two count here but only because he had his legs on the rope for leverage although the ref did not see it (of course.) A clothesline and enzugiri to Kaz by Red. He follows up with the Red Star Press but only gets a two count. Red yells “Future Sucks” after the crowd (must be that heel section, eh Sabinites?) ends its own chant. Red nails him with the 7-1-8 and attempts the springboard from the top but Kaz hits the rope causing him to lose his balance. Kaz uses this opportunity for his own signature move, the “wave of the future”, for three. Kaz retains. Winner: Kazarian by pinfall at 9:38 to retain the X-D Belt. Video package of D-Ray 3000… Hudson is in the back with him and he is picking his hair. Hudson asks him how he feels about stepping into the ring with an unknown for the gut check. “Do you know who I’m supposed to be wrestling? No… I’m happy being here. I like TNA but I’m not the one losing the matches around here. David Young needs a gut check. People need to fear the fro.” This guy is funny. He reminds me of an updated Smiley. Match #4 D-Ray 3000 vs. Abyss The entrance video for D-Ray has “Fear The Fro” really big when it first comes on the screen. He’s looking worried when he hears Abyss’s music hits. Goes right after him and tries to whip him but Abyss doesn’t budge. Goes for a shoulder block but Abyss scoops him and pretends to lift weights with him. Abyss then starts playing with the fro and D-Ray hands Abyss the pick. It was actually kind of creepy the way he was playing with it. Abyss begins to pick his own hair so D-Ray uses the opportunity and attacks Abyss. Vicious chops to D-Ray and then a whip. D-Ray gets the leg up and jumps off the rope. Abyss grabs him for a chokeslam but D-Ray starts biting his fingers. He’s trying to clothesline Abyss but Abyss doesn’t budge. Abyss then clocks him with a clothesline. He props him up in the corner and nails him with a splash. Grabbing him by the hair, Abyss whips him into the opposite corner. Sit down torture rack and D-Ray is looking seriously hurt. Goldy comes out with a briefcase and sets it in the ring. She tells Abyss to punish him and he goes for the Black Hole Slam for three. Winner: Abyss by pinfall at 3:10 Goldy opens the case and it is filled with cash. You can hear her telling Abyss that “We got this.” She kneels down next to D-Ray and runs her mouth and tries shoving cash in his. Eric Watts sneaks into the ring. Abyss goes to attack and Watts grabs him by the neck. They brawl a bit and Abyss is knocked out of the ring. Goldy and Watts are fighting over the briefcase and he gets it. Black Shirts come in and escort him out of the ring to a cheering crowd. Hudson is with Storm & Dream. Storm starts off. “Kash & Dallas, It’s time to put up or shut up. You’ve been running your mouths but we are going to prove them wrong tonight.” Dream chimes in with “It’s an honor to be in the ring with these young guns. He starts to babble again about not finding their names anywhere near the world’s greatest tag team. I love Dusty but sometimes he is so hard to understand. Outside the Asylum Russo and Watts are arguing. Watts only came to get what is rightfully his. Russo tells him to hand over the money. They don’t need any more trouble with Goldy since she is already suing them. Russo tells him to go home to his wife. Watts doesn’t want her brought up. Goldy comes out and tells Russo to give her the money. He tells her to take it and leave. She demands that he meet her in her office because she has something Russo can’t refuse. A video package cutting promo for the tag team match is next. Clips from past matches between Kash, Dallas, Dream and Storm are shown. Kash talks smack on the Dream. “You are no where near the talent of Kid Kash. I’ve done everything you have but I’ve looked a lot prettier than you while doing it.” Up next is the Tale of the Tape. Tenay mentions that the champs can talk but can they walk? They ten explained that the Bunkhouse brawl win is what led to the title bout. Match #5 Tag Team Championship Match Kid Kash & Dallas vs. Cowboy James Storm & The American Dream Dusty Rhodes The crowd is rowdy for this one. “Kid Kash Sucks” and “Dusty” chants fill the air. Dusty shoves Kash right off the apron. Kash and Dusty go into a stare down and then walk around soaking up the crowd’s energy. Exchange of words and then a lockup. Kash shoves him into the ropes and the ref breaks it at three. Kash is dong jumping jacks but Dusty surprised him and shoves him in the corner. Dusty walks away with his back to him daring Kash to do something. Dusty lifts the elbow and Kash goes back in the corner a couple of times. The crowd is literally eating out of Dusty’s hand. Outside the ring Kash has the belt and yells at Storm. More running of the mouth by Kash to the ref. Dallas comes in the ring now too so Storm joins in. Kash whispers something to Dallas and Dallas & Storm pace. Kash tags back in to do the dance with Storm. Attempted legdive by Storm but Kash sees it coming. A lockup then they roll around the ring before Kash gets him in a sleeper. Clothesline by Storm followed by a deep armdrag and then a dropkick. Kash is out of the ring again and tosses a few chairs in. Dusty and Storm set up the chairs and sit down to taunt Kash and Dallas. The ref gets the chairs out of the ring and Kash hits Dusty in the knee bringing him down . He keeps working on Dusty’s knee and takes his boot off. Spinning toe hold by Kash on Dusty’s now bare leg. The tag is made to Dallas and he continues to work on Dusty’s leg. Reverse chinlock by Dallas but the crowd is cheering on Dusty. Kash comes out and claps his hand to sound like a tag to the distracted ref. He continues the chinlock on Dusty but Dusty fights out and makes the tag to Storm. Storm immediately charges Dallas. Flying headscissors takeover by Storm. Dallas attempts a back bodydrop but Storm comes back with the cross body block. Two count on Dallas. Kash is putting on Dusty’s boot but storm knocks him out and goes for two. Dallas breaks the count. Rollup by Storm but a lead pipe shot by Dallas disables him. Kash rolls him up and gets the three. Kash & Dallas retain. Kash pins Storm at 10:57 to retain the Tag Team Belts. Hudson is in the back with Jarrett. He asks Jarrett, “You wanted one on one but you got four other men. How do you feel about this?” Jarrett goes on to tell us “You think I’ve waited 35 days for Russo to stack the deck against me? Well I see it the other way. We’ve got four egos stepping in the ring. They have monster egos but I don’t have one at all. I just want to be the champ going into Impact. This is a thinking man’s game and if you think they can out think me you’re wrong.” AJ runs in and attacks Jarrett. The Black Shirts break it up. Tenay talks up the website and how you can see pictures of the new set for Impact (The set is great. Check out TNA’s site if you haven’t already seen these.) West talks about the gut check. Tenay hypes up next week’s card. There will be a four-way gut check and a six-man tag match against Canada vs. Lynn, Garza & Metal. An X-D match is taking place on the debut of Impact. The winner will get a match against Kaz on next week’s PPV. Back again with Hudson who is now with The Truth. It is almost time for King of the Mountain. “It looks like they put the screws to you,” remarks Hudson. The Truth has an answer for that. “You know what? It makes me feel like I am in the Land of Oz because I am the second Afro-American champ. I get ladders, penalty boxes, etc for my first defense.” Konnan assures him that you are leaving with the gold and we are going to make sure you do. BG James says let’s do the “dang” thing. Hudson reminds us that if they interfere they will be fired. The final video package of the night is here to hype the main event up next. Tenay takes us to the Tale of the Tape. Here’s the bullets: 1) Four challengers for the champ. 2) Jarrett adds his name to chaotic title picture. 3) This is the first ever King Of The Mountain match. Match #6 Main Event King of The Mountain Match Chris Harris, AJ Styles, Raven, Jeff Jarrett, & Ron “The Truth” Killings Harris comes out to some new music although the AMW graphics are still in his entrance video. There were some major pops for the Truth. Raven keeps messing with AJ & the Truth during the ring announcements. The crowd literally growls during Jarrett’s announcement. AJ is extra cocky tonight it seems. Is he foreshadowing a heel turn? AJ goes right onto Jarrett just mauling him with blows. Truth whips Harris and gives him a knee to the stomach. Raven grabs Truth’s leg and pulls him out. Jarrett is stomping AJ in the ring. AJ is back up with a whip, reversal, floatover and dropkick to Jarrett. AJ springboards off the top rope over the penalty box onto everyone standing on the ramp. Everyone is down and Jarrett begins attempting to pin anyone. All he managed to get were twos. Tenay reminds us that falls count anywhere. Raven and Truth are in the ring. Jarrett and AJ are on the ramp. Jarrett rams AJ’s head across the side of ladder. Raven is setting up his Raven Effect on Truth but Harris dives off the top rope breaking it. AJ hits a snap suplex on the stage momentarily stunning Jarrett. Jarrett grabs the ladder and rams it into AJ’s stomach. He then throws the ladder at Truth. Raven is bringing in a table. Raven and Jarrett charge the Truth and then AJ with the ladder. Next they hit the Truth in the back with it and he drops to the mat. Jarrett rams AJ’s head into the ladder on the mat. Harris is now back in the match and Raven immediately attacks him. Now Raven is choking AJ on the ropes. He then brings a third table in the ring. Raven tosses AJ into the same corner as the Truth. He falls between the ring apron and the penalty box. This was one seriously nasty bump. AJ was lucky tonight. Raven and Harris are climbing up each side of the ladder exchanging blows the whole way. They begin to lose their balance and are barely holding on. Harris knocks Raven off the ladder into the table. Truth comes running in and knocks the ladder over causing Harris to slam into the other table in the corner. “TNA TNA TNA” chants erupt all over the Asylum!
