Off-air Notes: What you didn't see on WWE Raw last night Submitted by Richard Gray on Tuesday, April 27, 2004 at 5:13 PM EST
Thanks to LoP reader Bradley Lewis for sending the following:
Hey guys! I attended Raw last night in Topeka, KS and here are some notes from the show. Sorry if the details are a bit sketchy but I didn't take notes during the show.
The Kansas Expocentre was only about 3/4 full for the show which I found odd since this was the first time Raw had been to town since 1997. The entire upper deck on the camera side was tarped off and the other side was only half full. You could clearly see empty seats scattered throughout the lower sections.
The crowd was hot all night which was great to see!
There was one dark match between a local guy from Topeka and someone whose name I didn't catch (they said he haled from Porto Rico and he had cornrows). The Topeka guy lost.
Heat Tapings:
Garrison Cade d. Steven Richards. Both men got some heat during their entrances but the crowd was behind Richards after the match started. Richards spent most of the match looking like he didn't want to be there and Garrison just pushed him around and showed off to the crowd. Garrison won with the elbow off the top rope.
Randy Orton d. Val Venis to retain the Intercontinental Championship. Great back and forth match between these two which lasted a good solid 15-20 minutes. Orton pretended to have an injury after Venus applied a leg submission hold on him but when Venus went to check on Orton he hit the RKO for the win.
Hurricane and Rosey d. 2 jobbers. Again, I didn't catch the names because they came down with the referees and Hurricane and Rosey were posing for the crowd when Fink accounted their names. Hurricane and Rosey win with the swinging neck breaker.
Raw notes:
Not too much happened during the commercial breaks. The best part of the night was Christian came out with Trish and his problem solver during the commercial break and said, "I thought I had a lot of peeps in Topeka Kansas!" Then he said if the crowd didn't show him the respect he deserved he was leaving. Crowd started the "Na-na-na-na, hey-hey-hey, goodbye" chant and they all went back up the ramp looking pissed. Five seconds after they went backstage his music hit again and they came out for the promo which aired on Raw.
