First things first, I want to apologize to everyone for my absence. Right
when we were getting in the swing of things here, I ended up taking a forced
sabbatical. To those who noticed I was missing thank you for your emails.
The important part is I’m back and what a week to return!

    The Full Monty

The show starts of with Monte Brown informing us that if we do not pay for
this PPV he will hunt us down and give us the pounce. I like how they always
have one of the stars do the warning but this week’s was great. Moral of the
story: Don’t you dare take food out of the Alpha Male’s mouth.

We then go to an ultra long video package of previous week’s highlights.
Some of the clips included were from The Road to the Cage, Sabu and the
Alpha Male and the tag team feuds. Welcome to the Asylum friends. We are now
    open for business.

Match #1 Monte Brown & Abyss vs. Sabu & Raven
Raven’s music is the last to be played but where is he? According to Tenay
and West he is in the building but it looks like he can’t be bothered to
show up for his match. Abyss and Monte waste no time starting the beatdown
on Sabu. Sabu comes back with a DDT on Brown and kicks Abyss in the legs a
few times. Brown responds with a double underhook release suplex. Abyss
comes back in the ring and hits Sabu with a few chops and begins the Irish
whips. Brown tags Abyss on the back to come back in. Sabu is cornered by
Brown who is violently attacking and choking him. Sabu fights out of the
corner only for Brown to rinse and repeat.

Abyss momentarily attacks Brown, which gives the wily Sabu a few seconds to
sneak out and grab a chair. That’s when the real fun begins. Chairshots to
the heads of both Brown and Abyss follow knocking them down. Sabu sets the
chair up. He springs off the chair and onto the top rope for a moonsault on
Brown for a two count. Now he goes for a snap hurricarana on Abyss followed
by a leg drop with the chair on his face and head. That gets Sabu another
two count. Abyss Irish whips Sabu into the ropes and here comes Monte with
the devastating pounce. Abyss finishes Sabu off with a sit down torture rack
and pin. WINNER: Abyss pins Sabu at 7:29

After the match Abyss and Monte are shown standing off in the middle of the
ring circling each other like vultures.

During the above match we are shown what happened to Raven. Apparently he’s
too busy beating the hell out of Chris Harris in the back to show up for his
match. Raven kept working on his injured left shoulder. He put Harris’s arm
onto a chair and then slammed it with another chair. Raven then grabs the
steel guardrail and drops it on his shoulder. Storm comes in for the save by
hitting Raven with a garbage can. Raven stumbles from the back and into the
ring completely ignoring Sabu’s busted body lying there. For good measure he
trips over him. The camera then pans back to the Black Shirts with Harris
and Storm. An ambulance is called for him.

Borash is filling for Scott Hudson who was in a car accident this week. His
car was hit by a tanker truck and totaled. Scott was released from the
hospital and his only complaint is of soreness so it doesn’t appear that he
    suffered any injuries.

Borash is asking Kazarian if he was disappointed by not being offered the
spot on Team TNA and Kaz goes out of his way to act like he isn’t. He’s more
concerned about proclaiming himself to be the King of Hip. Young comes
running on screen asking where Hudson is and saying that he needs to talk to
him. Borash asks him what was up with Gilberti last week. Young says he
doesn’t know because Gilberti won’t return any of his phone calls. He then
proclaims that he is going to show us all that he’s a winner, which brings
    us to…

Match #2 David Young vs. Shark Boy
As soon as the match begins we are shown that the ambulance has arrived for
Chris Harris. Besides Young’s spinebuster, that was probably the most
exciting thing that happened during this match. Tenay takes us to school on
famous losing streaks which seems to be what they are building up with
    Young’s character.

The match starts off with a go behind by Shark Boy but Young reverses it
with a takedown. The chops start but quickly turn into punches. We then have
two quick two counts in the form of a roll up and sunset flip. Young does an
impressive swinging face slam on the cult hero who proceeds to take a
beating from Young. Shark Boy attempts his splash but Young gets out of the
way. Young is looking like he might end his streak but Shark Boy puts an end
to those dreams with a quick roll up for the pin. WINNER: Shark Boy by
    pinfall at 4:10

3LK comes to the ring in full camouflage gear. They are ready for combat but
according to BG James, “You still need to accessorize.” Konnan tells Russo
that the Truth is the one who should get the title shot in place of Harris
this evening. He then pokes fun at Young, who appears to be crying outside
the ring, by saying, “Young couldn’t be a star if he was thrown by a ninja.”
That wins the funny one-liner of the night award. Konnan goes on how it is
unfair that the only people who get pushed are those that kiss the most butt
around the locker rooms. He tells Russo to “holla!” and give the people what
they want which is the suntan superman getting another shot at the belt. BG
James is next. The words are different but the message is the same.
According to BG, Raven might be good backstage but he sucks in the ring.
Then, they dance. Woot, woot, holla!

Harris is shown on the stretcher. We overhear the paramedics saying that he
has a separated shoulder that could jeopardize his career. He pulls Russo
close and looks deeply into his eyes as a beloved elder lying on their
deathbed would. Slowly and softly he whispers to Russo, “I’ve come…this
far…do me one…favor…put *cough* Storm in the…match.” I was waiting for the
death rattle to commence. Honestly it was a touching moment that really
showed the devotion these two team members have between in other.

Match #3 Glen Gilberti & Johnny Swinger w/ Trinity vs. Sonny Siaki &
    Simon Diamond

First up is Siaki and Gilberti. Siaki backs him into the corner and Gilberti
fights back with a few slaps until the ref separates them. Back and forth on
the ropes with shoulderblocks, chops and then a dropkick brings Gilberti
down for a two count. Siaki follows up with a stunner for another cover that
is quickly broken up by Swinger.

Diamond suplexes swinger off the apron into the middle of the ring for a
near pinfall but Gilberti and Trinity yank him out. Everyone is outside the
ring fighting. Siaki takes moves the steps and springs off clotheslining
Gilberti. Swinger is pushed into the chair by the announcers’ table and gets
a double team superkick. We go back in the ring with Diamond pinning Swinger
for a two count. Swinger manages to get out of the cover but it greeted with
a double-team flapjack and high hiptoss combo. He starts the Simon Series
    but only gets one.

The roles are now reverses and it’s time for double team action in Diamond.
A few punches and then Swinger is choking Simon with his boot. Drop toehold
by Swinger who gets up and begins to fight back. Instead he is met with an
elbow. Tags are made and Siaki goes for a flying forearm/neckbreaker combo.
They team up on Siaki but he fights back with some chops. Swinger is the
victim of the Siak-o-lypse for a two count. Siaki goes up on the ropes but
Trinity pushes him off. Swinger takes advantage of this with a double arm
DDT and gets the three count. WINNER: Swinger pins Siaki at 10:15

After the match Gilberti and Swinger are holding Siaki up for Trinity to
torture but someone comes down the ramp and sneaks up on the boys with a
double low blow. Who is it? None other than Desire who is back after a
yearlong recovery! Desire takes off her shoes and spears Trinity. A catfight
ensues. Gilberti and Swinger out Trinity out. Siaki greets Desire with big
grins and hugs. Another touching moment brought to you by TNA.

Borash is in the back with Russo again. Russo is going on about how much he
wants to respect Harris’s wishes but he needs to do what is the best for the
company. He doesn’t feel that Storm is ready for his chance in the spotlight
yet. AJ walks on camera and asks “What about me?” He tells Russo he’s been
ready to go. He reminds him that he has already held that belt and if Russo
wants to make up for the past this would be the perfect opportunity. Russo
explains that he has been trying to apologize for the past six weeks but AJ
has been ignoring him. He tells AJ that he should have thought of this then.

We now go to a video package featuring The New Franchise and Christopher
Daniels. Daniels points out his scar that Shane gave him, which I though was
great. Then again, I mark for fallen angels.

Match #4 Christopher Daniels vs. Michael Shane w/ Shane Douglas &
    Traci

Shane Douglas joins Tenay and West on commentary for this match. This match
is for the empty spot on Team TNA that needs filled since Sabin was injured.
The boys immediately go to a lock-up at the sound of the bell. They shove
each other a few times and Daniels goes for a quick roll up. Back bodydrop
by Daniels followed by a whip. They go into shoulderblock and punch mode but
Daniels breaks the pace with a nice high kick to Shane’s face. Shane returns
with a kick to the chest. Shane comes down hard (and loud!) on the outside
of the ring. Daniels goes after him and slams his head off the apron before
he throws him in again. Shane hits Daniels with a neckbreaker and gets
thrown out again. Daniels goes to fetch him but Traci grabs his foot as he
tries to get back in giving Shane a few seconds to gather his thoughts.
Daniels breaks loose and comes for the roll-up but gets knocked out of the
ring. Traci hits him with the cast right in the stomach.

Back in again Shane applies the abdominal stretch on Daniels aching stomach
muscles while Traci helps apply pressure with the ropes. Daniels reverses it
and knocks Traci down. Shane knees him and throws him from the apron back in
the ring. Shane applies a rear chinlock but Daniels fights out with punches
to the stomach. Shane goes up to the ropes but Daniels knocks him off
balance and he comes down hard on the jewels to fall out of the ring.
Daniels goes for a nice baseball slide kick. He goes up on the ropes for a
split leg moonsault but Douglas sees it coming and gets in the way. Shane
goes after Daniels, pushing Douglas out of the way. Daniels grabs him and
throws him out of the ring. It’s time for the mark-out moment of the match…
Best Moonsault Ever! Still not enough to get the whole
three count though. Daniels reverses an Irish whip and Shane comes at him
with a superkick for a quick two. Fisherman’s suplex by Daniels and then a
hard enzugiri followed. Man, that was loud! Daniels goes for his finisher,
the last rites, but Traci causes a distraction so Douglas could get in there
with the chain. When Shane realizes what happened he is upset and refuses to
pin Daniels. He yells at Douglas that he wants to do it his way and starts
winding up for the superkick. Too late though because while they were
arguing Daniels came to. Daniels comes after him and hits an STO for the
    pin.

After the match Daniels is greeted by Team TNA and given a nice, warm
welcome. In the meantime, back in the ring The New Franchise are battling.
Lots of screaming and yelling occurs but then Douglas starts to take his
shirt off. Shane slaps him around a bit and now Douglas is going for his
belt. Oh yes, boy I’m gonna whoop you good! And he does… Traci is watching
horrified and not sure of what to do. Finally she makes up her mind and
grabs the belt that Douglas has now dropped. She takes the belt and begins
to choke Douglas with it! Traci continues to beat him with the belt while
Shane kicks him. Black Shirt security comes out to break up the public
    lynching.

Borash is with Russo again and he is asking who the replacement for Harris
is going to be…again. Russo tells him that he knows what is at stake here
and he needs some time to make a decision. He informs Borash that he will be
the first to know when that decision is finally made. Abyss comes out
grunting and Russo tells him to speak already. Then some crazy Latino chick
comes out to speak for Abyss. Who could she be? None other than our own
resident psycho Goldylocks! That has to be the worst fake accent I have ever
heard in a million years. Russo tells her that Halloween is over and then
    calls her Sybil.

We are shown a video package with highlights from the tag team feud between
    Kash, Dallas, Apollo, and D’Lo.

Match #5 ~Tag Team Championship Belts Rematch ~Kid Kash & Dallas vs. D’Lo
    Brown & Apollo

Apollo and Brown are showing off the belts in the ring when Kash and Dallas
attack them. They react by clotheslining Dallas and midget tossing Kash on
top of him. Brown then goes for a suicide dive followed by a beautiful
somersault flip by Apollo. It is just amazing to see a big guy like that
fly. Back in the ring Brown hits Kash with a TKA. Apollo gets in the ring
and powerbombs Kash. Dallas gets tagged in and blows are exchanged. Apollo
puts an end to that nonsense with a shoulderblock and follows it with a
spinebuster. Tags are made and so are a few unremarkable moments. Kash nails
Brown with a missile dropkick for a two count. They both attack Brown but he
fights back until they nail him with a clothesline. More punches from Brown
to Kash followed by a hurricarana powerbomb. Tags are made again and Dallas
is superkicked out of the ring. Brown snatched up Kash and accidentally hits
the ref while doing a wind up slam. Kash grabs a lead pipe and Apollo takes
it off of him in time to be caught by the ref for a DQ. Unfortunately in TNA
belts can change hands on a disqualification. WINNER: Kid Kash & Dallas
    by DQ at 6:29

We’re down to the wire now and Borash wants to know whom Russo has chosen to
replace Harris for the heavyweight belt. Before Russo really gets a chance
to speak Raven comes on camera. Russo is, understandably so, not very happy
to see him. He tells him to get away from him because this mess is his
entire fault. Raven speaks to him in that soft-spoken way that only Raven
can to calm him down. He tells him that this is Scott, not Raven, talking to
Vince. Russo doesn’t see why he should trust him but Raven explains that he
is his last line of defense in dethroning Jarrett. Russo asks him what kind
of champion he will be…one that is constantly a thorn in his side? Raven
responds by telling him that all he wants is the belt and when he has that
he will be whatever Russo wants him to be. Russo says that he has made up
his mind and shakes Raven’s hand.

We now are shown a video promoting the next X-Cup tournament. It will take
place on May 26th. This time it will include all the teams to prove who
truly is the best. A new match will also be added to the tournament… an
    Ultimate X Match!

It’s time for the hard sell by West. Tenay chimes in too.

We go back to Borash again except this time he is with Jarrett. He wants to
know if he has ever seen anything like what has gone on this evening.
Jarrett seems to ignore him and instead speaks to an off camera Russo. He
says that Russo had everyone fooled. Here he was supposed to be a new man
but he’s still the same old Russo. He accuses him of making a deal with the
devil yet again. He reminds all of us that it was almost exactly one year
ago (April 30, 2003) that Raven and Jarrett went head to head for the title
and Raven lost. He expects the same to happen this evening.

We are now treated to a nice long video history of Jarrett’s career.
The camera goes to the ring where we see Jarrett standing and calling for
Raven to come out. He is busy talking trash on him (off mic) when Russo
comes out to make the official announcement. We have the little TNA cam box
showing us Raven preparing for the announcement. Russo goes on how Storm
isn’t ready. 3LK and Abyss were nothing but bullies so they weren’t going to
get their chance tonight either. He tells us that it all comes down to Raven
yet again. Russo and Raven used to be really good friends. He said that they
worked together through all the different feds and it was even his idea to
bring him to TNA. However, he was not going to deal with the devil
again. Tonight was someone else’s chance to shine and the only right choice
for the company…AJ STYLES! Yes, the crowd did go wild at that one.

Match #6 ~The Main Event~ NWA TNA Heavyweight Title Cage Match Jeff
    Jarrett vs. AJ Styles

The announcer started to do his job but gave up because the battle between
these two had already begun. AJ has been hungry for this chance for a long
time and boy did it show. Shoves, lock-ups, blows etc are exchanged at a
fast pace. Styles gets JJ in a headlock and follows it with a shoulderblock.
Chops to JJ chest send him across the ring. Man, those sounded stiff! Styles
grabs JJ again in a headlock but he breaks out and whips him into the ropes.
Styles returns with a deep armdrag. JJ does the same but follows his with
some chops. The match goes on for a while with various chops, kicks, and
punches. Styles dropkicks, bodyslams, and then springboard kneedrop for a
two count. A bit of offense by JJ leads to a powerslam for two for Styles.
He picks JJ up and holds him for a high vertical suplex. Another two count.
Styles attempts a springboard but JJ catches him and tosses him into the
side of the cage. JJ gets Styles into a figure four but Styles reverses and
gets a two count. JJ then attempts the Scorpion Deathlock but Styles is able
to crawl over to the ropes. Styles tries to return the favor but JJ gets the
ropes. Styles covers JJ with a German suplex bridge but still doesn’t get
    the three.

Styles isn’t ready to give up yet and tries a reverse DDT but JJ manages to
get out of that too. He tries the Styles Clash but didn’t succeed. The ref
takes a really weak bump at this point. While the ref is trying to shake it
off JJ reaches into his trunks for a small baggie of white powder and throws
it into Styles’s face. JJ takes advantage of this with a backslide for two.
JJ now is unlacing his boot where he has a chain hidden away. He tries to
hit Styles but he sees it and ducks. Styles rolls JJ up for yet another two
count. JJ decides to do the ultimate insult of trying to use his opponent’s
finisher but Styles shows him how the clash is done. Another two count and
Styles climbs up the cage. JJ shoves the ref into the cage knocking Styles
down. As Styles hangs on for dear life he hits the cage again causing Styles
to hit the floor hard. A “Holy Shit” chant erupts from the crowd!

The ref stops the match and unlocks the cage because there has to be a
winner since this is a No DQ match. When the cage is unlocked JJ rushes out
and grabs his guitar off the announcers’s table. Tenay tries to get it
before him but JJ is too quick. He gets back in the cage and goes to hit
Styles with it but he sees it coming. He nails the guitar with an enzugiri
like it’s target practice. JJ just stands there shocked before attempted to
hit him with what was left. Styles was too quick for him though and rolled
him up, guitar and all, for the three count. Ladies and gentlemen, may I
present to you our new NWA TNA Heavyweight Champion of the World……AJ Styles!

After the match AJ walks around and makes contact with as many fans as
possible before starting up the ramp. When he gets to the ramp Russo is
standing there waiting for him. He sticks out his hand to congratulate
Styles but AJ smacks it away. Russo looks confused for a second but AJ goes
for a hug instead. What a great PPV!

That’s all for this week. Be sure to tune in next week for more non-stop
action straight from the Asylum. Thanks for reading!
