WWE News: Update on Paul Heyman's return to the WWE

  • Many of you might be wondering why the WWE decided to go with a "I Quit" angle to remove Paul Heyman from the role as Smackdown GM, despite the fact that he was doing a good job. Well, the decision to take Heyman out was made as soon as Vince McMahon announced plans to hold the draft lottery, so it would open up a regular spot on WWE TV for Kurt Angle to have where he wouldn't have to wrestle. Right now, the WWE is taking things very easy with Angle's neck, and want to allow his injury to heal as much as possible before allowing him to return to in-ring action.

Also, the general feeling backstage is that Heyman would be better suited as a manager in order to help get some of the more weaker heels on the SD-Brand over with the fans, so they can give Eddie Guerrero new challengers to defend his WWE Championship against. The WWE also wants to continue the mini-program between Heyman & John Cena that started several weeks ago in order to help Cena get over even more as a face. The WWE thinks that Heyman could be a modern-day version of two of the greatest managers that have ever come through the doors in WWE: Capt. Lou Albano and "Classy" Freddie Blassie.
