- WWE unites against hunger on South African tour
CAPE TOWN, South Africa – Feb. 26, 2004 -- While WWE packs arenas during its current tour of this picturesque nation, it is playing a part in remedying one of the continent’s most distressing plagues.
An astonishing 2.5 million South Africans face each day without the certainty that they will be able to feed themselves. Addressing this issue, Unite Against Hunger is sponsoring the SmackDown! “Passport to Pain” foray to Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg and East Rand. Through the corporate support of Vodacom and Tiger Foods, United Against Hunger feeds 80,000 South Africans a month.
“We’re proud to help raise awareness of this very serious issue,” said Wesley Cullen, WWE’s international specialist, live events.

Police estimated that 200 fans crowded into the airport to greet the APA and other SmackDown! Superstars.
