WWE Smackdown House Show results from Joplin, Missouri 2/23/04

  I attended my first wwe live event last night in Joplin. It was sold out and the crowd was hot all night. The curtain was closed on the stage where bands and things perform and chavo jr, eddy, and a few others kept peeking out before the show started making some weird expressions..kinna funny
  
  Chuck Pulumbo vs Orlando Jordan was a decent match..chuck got a lot of heat and the fans went nuts for every single move they performed. I believe Pulumbo won after a series of reversed pin attempts that followed after a jordan cross body off the top
  
  Jamie Noble vs John from Tough Enough 3 was next..lots of heat for noble during his intro but he was the favorite thoughout the match because nobody really knew john that well aside from tough enough. lots of nidia chants throughout was well. Noble won the match but i forgot how..i think a rollup though.
  
  Billy Gunn and the other TE winner(forgot his name) vs A Train and Matt Morgan was a solid match. The guy from TE is pretty good. Gunn got huge pops throughout, especially after yelling for A Train to Suck it. The end of the match occured as Albert went to splash the guy from TE(who was on top of Morgaon), and he moved so a train landed on Morgan. The guy from TE got the pin. Lots of chants for albert to shave his back as well, and before the match gunn kept mocking Morgan by walking around like a gurrieilla.
  
  
  Dawn Marie came out next and said missouri was the show me state and teased showing us some puppies, but instead brought out Paul Heyman. Paul said he had good news and bad news. the good news was that he scheduled a match for Big Show to defend the US championship against John Cena. The bad news was that Dawn Marie thought that Cena was too hurt to compete, and that Cena was medically suspended. John Cena came down with two basketballs and game them to Dawn, and said something along the lines of Heyman had no balls and Dawn had his. Marie quickly got rid of the basketballs. Cena rapped about how Marie is a slut and that the suspension he can't follow, we all know paul heyman sucks and Dawn Marie swallows. Then he said Marie is a cheat slut and not to take offence, but heres a dollar, now give me back 99 cents. Cena was funny as hell then he went to kick pauls ass but heyman pulled marie in front of him and Cena bent her over on his knee, lifted up her skirt, and spanked her ass. Big Show then ran down and attacked Cena and Heyman said the suspension was lifted and the match starts now.
  
  Big Show vs John Cena for the U.S. title was a very short match. Marie ran in after a few minutes and gave a low blow to John Cena and Show chokeslammed him for the win.
  
  
  Hardcore Holly vs Rhyno was next. They put on a decent match with lots of ECW chants from the crowd. Rhyno talked trash to the fans the whole match. Rhyno missed a Gore midway through the match and the end came when Holly Gored Rhyno.
  
  
  The tag team titles were on the line next as Rikishi and Scotty defended the titles against the Bashams. Before the match started Scotty and Rikishi were extremely funny and entertained the crowd a lot. Rikishi would bend over and the bashams ran out of the ring once and Rikishi kept bending over scaring the fans. When the match finally got started they put on a pretty good match. Several Near falls and Rikishi got the pin after Scotty hit the worm on one of the Bashams and the other ran right into a Samoan drop from Rikishi for the win.
  
  APA vs The Worlds Greatest tag team was next. before the match, WGTT talked about how much Joplin sucked and told some fat guy in the front row that he doesn't have to watch his weight because we can all see it. It was a pretty good match, once again several near falls. Faarooq went for the dominator early but Haas slid out of it and Bradshaw hit the clothesline from Hell for the win.
  
  Next was a Triple threat match for the cruiserweight title between Chavo(with Senior), Kidman, and Tajarii. The crows was kind of disappointed because Rey wasn't in this match even though he was scheduled to be there. Good match as all three men are really good cruiserweights. Chavo senior pushed kidman off the turnbuckle once when he was going to go for the shooting star and Tajiri locked in the Tyrantula once as well. Chavo got the win with a rollup on either Tajiri or kidman can't remember, and he held their tights for the pin. Chavo talked trash on the crowd as well because everyone chanted Eddie during the entire match, as well as Chavo sucks.
  
  
  The main event was for the WWE championship between Eddie Gurerro and Kurt Angle. Before the match Angle told Eddie to go back to Mexico and Eddie said he crossed a border and we(americans) crossed an ocean and asked who was closer. They put on a good match and the fans were loud througout even though most of the match consisted of submissions. The only mistake of the night came when Eddie sort of botched a hurricarana but it wasn't that bad, and when he went to roll up Angle, Kurt's pants came down enough so that my entire section could see his ass(yay). The finish came after Eddie escaped an Angle Slam, then Angle moved from a frog splash and Eddie finally rolled up Angle for the win. After the match Angle commented on how we all got to see his white ass and how the outcome will be different at WrestleMania.
  
  Very good event imo and Angle said on the news that we were so loud that they will be back hopefully with a RAW or Smackdown event becuase you don't always have to have a 25 thousand seat arena to have RAW or SD. I doubt that though because this is a 2000 seat arena and nowhere to put the stage but we managed to fit about 3000 inside anyways.
