I didn't know how to do this since it is my first time. I figured you may like to know what happened at the house show in Springfield last night. I usually rate out of 5 stars.
The night started off as they usually play Welcome to the Jungle, which means that Howard Finkle would come out. But wait, Jonathan Coachman comes out. Big heat. In the start of his conversation, the sound system went out. Big "YOU SUCK" chants to Coachman. So the night looked to be a bad night for the WWE.
MATCH #1 - Test vs Steven Richards/w Victoria.
If no one has seen Victoria live, man very Gorgous. The match went well. Test dominated the most part. Near the end, he kicks Victoria in the shoulder while she's sanding at ringside. Test goes to chase her. She slides into the ring, and Stevie capitalizes, and goes for a big suplex. Test reverses it to put Stevie in the pump handle slam, Stevie reverses into a DDT for the pin and the win.
Rating: 2 out of 5 stars
Still no sound system, but some funny shit as Mike Chioda comes out and hands Coach, who I assume is the ring announcer for the night, a Bullhorn. Some funny shit. But still no sound.
Match #2 - Lance Storm vs ????
I didn't know who the guy he was facing, because of the sound, and there was no matches in the programs. However, the guy he faces looks sort of looks like Randy Savage in his prime, but doesn't have the skills like the Macho Man. Anyways, some messed spots by both. Man Lance Storm really is boring, and boy did the Springfield crowd let him know. Storm got the win with the "Maple Leaf".(half boston crab).
1 out of 5 stars.
Finally the sound system works, and Coach gets on, still people saying he sucks. Coach says the sound system is Springfields, and it sucks. He announces that the Tag Team titles will be on the line, as newly crowned champions Booker T & RVD will take on the team of Batista & Randy Orton. He also announces that the World Heavyweight Championship will be defended as Triple H defends his title against Chris Benoit.
Match #3 - Cade and Jindrak vs ????
Cade gets on and says that Sprinfield is lucky to see the greatest tag team on Raw, and bitches and moans about soon they'll get the tag titles. Then Jindrak talks about how the men should look up to them, because we need to get off our fat asses and do stuff. Typical heel promo, and it pretty much blows. Cade offers a challenge to anyone in the back. Two big brawly guys come out. Couldn't get their names, because they rushed the ring before coach could announce them.
Not a bad match. Cade and Jindrak are nothing like the O'Haire & Jindrak team back in WCW. Perhaps they need to get rid of Cade and bring back O'Haire. Anyways, not a bad match. The two unknowns really work up the ring well. However, Cade and Jindrak get the win on a double team.
3 out of 5 stars
Match #4 - Rico w/Miss Jackie vs Horseshoe.
Yup the guys name is Horseshoe, and he's HUGE! He could be someone we'll see soon. A very well match, however, Rico jobbed him good. He did his "Ride the Pony" on Horseshoe, and ultimatley in the end, Jackie gets on the ring, flahses Horseshoe, and Rico picks up the win.
*Side Note* It was the same thing she did to La Resistance, and she was wearing nipple coverings. So it kind of sucked.*
2 out of 5 stars
Match # 5 - Molly Holly & Jazz vs Trish & Lita
By far the best match so far . Theodore long comes out, does his buggin & thuggin speach, and tells the rest of the white girls to get their asses out of here.
Jazz and Molly are in control pretty much the whole time. Lita is worked over by both Jazz and Molly. Finally Lita makes the tag, and Trish cleans house. All 4 women are in the ring. On opposite turnbuckles Lita & Trish do a 10 count hit, and Lita hits the DDT to Jazz They get out of the ring, and Trish nails the Stratusfaction on Molly and pins the world champ.
Very solid for a woman's match.
3 out of 5
Match # 6 - Christian vs Val Venis
Christian is great. He's calling everyone his peeps. Hugs Coach. Venis comes out get's slapped in the face by Christian. Val takes offense, and pushes Christian. Christian flexes his muscles, and some idiot in the crowd takes off his shirt and flexes. Some funny shit. Christian flips him off. Venis take somewhat control of the match. he goes to Irish whip Christian who reverses it. He runs at Venis who's in the corner. Elbow to the face, christain goes back and hits the referee in the eye. (And believe me it was a blown spot) Venis hits Powerbomb with pin combination. Christian kicks out at 2 because the ref was selling the contact with Christian.
Venis goes up for the money shot, and Christian brings up his knees. I think Val got hurt real bad after that one. Perhaps a rib injury. Christian gets the win with the Unprettier. Val has to have Earl Hebner help him into the back. Definatly that was not a sell. He was holding his ribs and he did look like he was in pain.
without the blown spot 4 out of 5. with the blown spot 3 out of 5.
Next up, Coach says he's got a few announcements about merchandising. Even though he was on Smackdown, they had John Cena & Rey Mysterio shirts there. They give some shirts out with the shirt cannon, and then Coach says he's going to do an interview, and calls out the challenger for the world championship tonight and at Wrestlemania, Chris Benoit.
Benoit comes out to a huge pop. Coach stands there and wonders what he's thinking. With all due resepect, you were by far the franchise of Smackdown. You were #1 in the Royal Rumble, and defeated 29 other men for a chance at Wrestlemania. You find a loop hole, and come to Raw, but your NOT the best. Your not Triple H. Coach continues and says "So if I were you, I'd walk out of this ring, head to the back, grab my bag, and drive down I-55, and get the hell out of here. Now what do you have to say about that. He points the mic in Benoits face. Benoit puts the Crossface on Coach, who immediately taps out, and lays in the ring selling the injury and Boy will he sell it.
Benoits picks up the mic and says "coach has talked too much, so he's taking over. He says he's going to walk into Springfeild Chris Benoit, and walk out the World Heavyweight Champion. And at Wrestlemainia he'll walk out with the title. He tried to get a cheap pop by saying Springfield, and it worked. He heads to the back, and due to Coaches injury, we'll take a 10 minute intermission.
BREAK
Coach comes back out, and is wearing a SLING. That's right, he's selling the Crossface he just receive. He tries to make the crowd feel sorry for him. They still chant YOU SUCK. He said that there has been a change in the match. Due to Kane's onslaught to Chris Jericho these past few weeks, the match between Kane and Jericho will not take place. Jericho's music hits, and out walks the Ayotolla or Rock and Rolla. He gets in the ring, and says that coach needs to get a reality check. Yes he got his ass kicked by Kane, just like coach just got his ass kicked by Chris Benoit. He pokes at Coaches shoulder. Funny stuff. He continues by saying yes the doctors, physicians and officails say that I should not fight tonight, the the Jericholics say I will fight tonight in Srpingfield. Great Pop!
Match # 6 - Chris Jericho vs Kane.
Kane walks out and tries to get in the ring, but jericho kicks him and goes outside. Jericho's relentless, and takes it to Kane. Finally Kane gets Jericho, and works on the knee of Chris. Big time work on Jeicho's knee. Goes and uses the ring post a bit, Jeicho fights back, nails his kick off the second rope, and kane drops off the appron to the floor. Finally Kane gets him, and goes to bash his knee again like he's done the last few weeks on Raw to the ringpost. Jericho gets out and Kane hits the ring post hard. A 9 1/2 count goes on and Kane gets in the ring. He chokeslams Jericho, and Trish comes out and tries to make the save. Kane tosses Trish in the ring, picks her up to choakslam her, and the GONG's go off. That's right, the Undertaker's presence was in Springfield. Kane's looking all around, and Jericho comes in and nails Kane with the chair calling for the disqualification.
4 out of 5 stars.
As Kane walks down the ring, he's still looking up, and the GONGS go off again. He leaves in a hurry.
Match # 7 RVD & Booker T vs Evolution (Orton/Batista) for the World Tag Team Titles.
I was pretty much pissed. They announced that all members of Evolution would be there. The nature boy wasn't. Damn it would have been good to see the greatest wrestler of all time perform. A "Foley's Bitch" chant toward Orton was started.
Anyways, the match had a slow start. Everyone wanting to pose to get the crowds reaction. I think that lasted longer than the match. Not really, but finally they start. RVD and Batista go at it. Man Batista really is a monster. The whole match was good though. Booker and RVD work well together. However, I still think Booker should go heel. Give him to Teddy Long. It would work.
Orton is simply awsome. I saw his debut on Smackdown in Peoria, IL, and he's still a great entertainer. I honestly think he'll be the next Rock. Just you wait and see.
Double teams happen alot in this match, but it keeps it interesting. Booker nails the scissor's kick on Orton, and clotheslines Batista out of the ring. RVD hits the 5 star, and picks up the win.
After they were going to leave, RVD gets on the mic and tells Booker to do the spinnerooni. He does it and they leave. (Some loud mouth bitch through the entire match kept screaming that BOOKER sucks. It pissed alot of people off who were trying to watch the match)
4 out of 5 stars.
MAIN EVENT - Benoit vs HHH for the World Heavyweight Championship.
Typical HHH promo. comes out gets on the fans, telling them he doesn't give a crap what we think or what Benoit thinks. He's walking out of here and Wrestlemania the world champ, and there ain't a damn thing we or Benoit could do about it.
This was by far the best match of the night. i've never seen Chris Benoit in action, and he is phenominal. The man can work the ring. And HHH didn't have to job him, that's what so good about it.
HHH takes control for most of the match. Trying build up for the climax of the match. Benoit gets a few punches and kicks in. He nails the 3 german suplexes in a row move, and goes to do his headbutt off the top rope. HHH moves, and tries for a suplex or something. Benoit reverses it somehow and HHH is lying motionless in the ring. Benoit sgsin goes up for the headbutt and hits it. Pins, but only gets a two count. He puts on the sharpshooter. I swear I thought I was seeing Bret Hart in the ring. Good old Stu for opening that training gym.
Out comes Randy Orton. (Who didn't see this one coming) Benoit takes Orton out, who drops his title in the ring. (hint) The ref is taken out somehow, and HHH hits benoit with the IC title. Ref is slowly making his way to count, but Benoit kicks out of it. HHH picks up Benoit and signals the pedigree. Benoit reverses it and puts on the crossface. HHH is about to tap when Batista runs out. Again, this disupts Benoit who takes batista out. When he turns, he walks right into the pedigree, and HHH picks up the win.
4 out of 5 stars.
Evolution leave celebrating. Benoit leaves to a standing Ovation, and Coach announces that Smackdown roster will come to springfield sometime in June, and tickets go on sale immediately. I guess the roster split that was suppose to end after Wrestlemania won't. Anyways, a very decent house show.
Best match: Benoit / HHH Best Pop: Jericho/Benoit/RVD&Booker/Trish&Lita Best Heat: Coach/HHH/Evolution/Cade&Jindrak
OVERALL 4 out of 5 stars.
