- Aside from a few single seats in certain areas the show was basically sold out, which in the Civic Auditorium is around 900 to 1,000 people. The crowd was hot all night long popping for every wrestler that came out, even Hardcore Holly. LOL. We also seen the opening of the Eddie Guerrero vs Kurt Angle feud for their match at WreslteMania XX and who Lamont will be will now be managing with The Cat gone in Orlando Jordan. Anyway the results saw:
Opening Match: Kidman & Paul London defeated Akio & Sakoda. Great match. Lots of fast paced action from all four men The finish came when Paul London hit the dropsalt on Sakoda and Kidman rolling him up into a school boy for the three count.
2nd Match saw Ultimo Dragon defeat Shannon Moore. If your a Velocity fan you would know these two have faced off numerous times and this was their typical match. Back and forth action with Dragon getting the win with the Asai DDT.
Next ring announcer Tony Chimmel was about to announce the winning seat of a JVC Boom box when Paul Heyman made his way to the ring. It took him a few minutes to get out what he had to say as the crowd was extremely loud and the sound system was awful. Heyman started out by saying if the crowd didn't shut up he would have us all deported. (Stockton and the surrounding area has a heavy population of Hispanics) He then announced that he had good and bad news. The good news was the main event for the evening was a six man tag match pitting A-Train, Big Show, and Brock Lesnar against Hardcore Holly, Kurt Angle, and the new WWE Champion Eddie Guerrero. The bad news was that due to injury, and to "protect" the fans from bad influence that John Cena was suspended. At that time Cena's music hit and he made his was to the ring. John made a rap about how Heyman sucks and that if he was going to get suspended he was going to have a good reason, and that's by beating up Heyman. As Cena had Heyman by his suit Rhyno ran to the ring to hit the gore on John. Heyman then announced that the suspension was over and that Cena would wrestle Rhyno tonight, with the match staring immediately.
Match 3: John Cena defeated Rhyno. This match was mainly all Rhyno due to the pre-match beating, but didn't last too long. The finish saw Rhyno go for the gore but missing and running into the turnbuckle. When he turned around Cena nailed the FU for the win.
Match 4 saw Billy Gunn defeat Matt Morgan. Decent match that saw Morgan using holds to wear down Gunn in the beginning. Billy eventually made a comeback and hit the Famouser for the win.
Match 5 saw Tajiri defeat Orlando Jordan. Tajiri made his way to the ring first, then Lamont made his way to the ring. Everybody thought maybe Lamont was going to wrestle, but he introduced "the man that can flip, flop and fly" (his words) Orlando Jordan. Tajiri started the match by challenging Lamont to a fight, which Lamont accepted only to chicken out and literally hang on Jordan. The match eventually started with Tajiri taking the upper hand with several submission moves. Lamont then distracted Tajiri, which prompted in Tajiri in chasing him around the ring allowing Jordan to gain the upper hand. As Tajiri made a comeback Lamont again interjected himself in the match which got him in the tarantula for his efforts. As Jordan went to break it up and check on Lamont, Tajiri rolled him up and held the tights to get the win.
Match 6 saw Rikishi & Scotty 2 Hotty retain the WWE Tag Team titles in a triple threat match against The Basham Brothers (Without Shaniqua) and the F.B.I. team of Chuck Palumbo and Johnny the Bull with Nunzio at ringside. Lots of stalling at the start as Scotty and Rikishi were over big time. The first ten minutes or so saw the Basham's and F.B.I work over Scotty, who eventually made the hot tag to Rikishi and that's where the match then got confusing to watch as all seven (that includes Nunzio) men were fighting all over the ring and ringside. The Basham's then hit the "Ball and Gag" on Johnny the Bull to eliminate the F.B.I. The match continued as all F.B.I. members remained at ringside arguing. As that was going on Scotty hit the worm on Danny and Rikishi hit the Bonzai drop on Doug for the win. After the match Chuck Palumbo and Johnny the Bull beat up Nunzio for yelling at them for the loss. They then left Nunzio in the ring only to get a stinkface from Rikishi. After-words Scotty and Rikishi celebrated by doing their dance routine along with referee Charles Robinson, who performed the worst "Worm" ever.
Match 7 saw the APA defeat The Worlds greatest Tag Team. Haas and Benjamin started the match by taking the mic and saying how since everybody in Stockton is too poor to order Pay-Per-View, we all missed them beat the APA at No Way Out, and tonight wouldn't be any different. This was almost the same match as No Way Out but with the APA getting the win after Bradshaw hit the Clothesline from Hell on Benjamin and Faarooq got the pin. Afterwards Shelton was "knocked out" which prompted referee Jim Korderas to dump ice water on Shelton's crotch for the revival. Funny stuff.
Match 8 Saw Chavo Guerrero Jr. (with Chavo Sr.) retain the Cruiserweight title in a 3 way dance against Rey Mysterio and Jamie "By God" Noble (They actually introduced him as that) Great cruiserweight match as you would expect from these three. Jamie and Chavo worked over Rey at the start only to have Chavo eventually turn on Noble. The finish saw Rey go for the 619 on Chavo but when he hit the ropes Chavo Sr. tripped him up allowing Chavo Jr. hit the Gory Bomb and get the win. After the match Rey got revenge as he beat up both Chavo's and set them up for a double 619 when Noble made his way back in only to end up getting beat himself. Rey then positioned him for the 619 along with the Guerrero's hitting it on all three men at the same time, which I guess would make it an 1857. Great match.
Next Funaki came out to emcee what was supposed to be a four-way lingerie showdown with Dawn Marie, Nidia, Torrie Wilson, and Sable. It turned into a 2 on 2 as Dawn Marie stated that it should have been her and Nidia that got to pose in this month’s issue of Playboy. Nidia reluctantly agreed with Dawn and the two proceeded to show off what they had. Nidia ended up doing some funny dance causing her and Dawn to look like fools. Next up was Sable and Torrie. They proceeded to strip down to their underwear only to be jumped by Dawn and Nidia. Sable and Torrie won the "brawl" and posed for the crowd for a few minutes before leaving. Typical Smackdown divas showdown.
Main Event saw the new WWE Champion Eddie Guerrero, Kurt Angle, and Hardcore Holly defeat Brock Lesnar, Big Show, and A-Train. Eddie was over huge, by far the biggest pop of the night. He even came out to his old "Latino Heat" music. Eddie and Brock started the match with Brock taking over and pounding on Eddie, who was eventually able to make the tag to Kurt. Lots of tags between Lesnar, Show, and A-Train. Kurt eventually made the tag to Holly who took it to Big Show only to be worked over himself. After a few minutes of taking a beating Holly made the hot tag to Eddie who cleared the ring. Holly then tackled A-Train to the outside, allowing Kurt to hit the Angle Slam on Big Show, and Eddie hitting the frog splash on Brock to get the win.
Post Match: Kurt got on the mic and told the crowd tonight was special, as only a short 24 hours ago Eddie made history by "kicking the s**t out of Brock Lesnar and capturing the WWE Championship." Kurt then spoke on behalf of the crowd by giving congrats to Eddie on his remarkable victory and if there's anybody that deserves the title it's Eddie, and tonight he wants Eddie to celebrate his first night as champion with his people, to which Eddie thanked him and the crowd for. Kurt then said that although the people love Eddie along with himself and Holly, (who was still in the ring) and he has a tremendous amount of respect for Eddie, that he will "kick his @$$ at WrestleMania and get back the WWE Championship." That turned the crowd on Kurt very quickly. Holly then took the mic and proceeded to tell Kurt that he's fought with and against him, and he knows Kurt's tough, but Eddie proved at No Way Out how much the WWE title means to him, and that at WrestleMania XX, Kurt won't be able to win. Eddie then took the mic and said that Kurt "eats, sleeps, breathes, and s**ts" the WWE title, but so does he. And the passion that Kurt has for his gold medals is the same passion he has to be champion, and that Angle will be in for the fight of his life and they'll have to pry the title from his dead hands to get it. Kurt said he respects that, but at Mania Eddie's @$$ is his and proceeded to leave to a chorus of boos. Eddie then told the crowd that the winning of the title was not only for him, but for his "Raza". He said he continually told Vince McMahon, the WWE crew, and the boys that La Raza sticks together no matter what and tonight Stockton proved that he was right. He then thanked the fans and the show was over.
Overall, a great show and one of the best house shows I've ever been to. It was actually PPV quality.
