- The real story on Angle’s condition
Recent reports suggesting that Kurt Angle will never again be able to compete full time in WWE are false, the Olympic gold medalist told WWE.com on Monday.
“That’s not even close,” Angle said in a phone interview. “I don’t know where they came up with that. I’m hoping to be back on a full schedule in mid-January. I don’t know where that came from, but that’s not in the plans. I’m coming back full-schedule. I already talked to J.R. (Jim Ross) and Johnny (Laurinaitis, of WWE’s Talent Relations Department). So that’s all rumors.”
Angle said he’s much improved since having surgery on Nov. 18 to remove bone spurs in his spine, although he said it took him much longer to recover compared to his first surgical procedure, just after WrestleMania XIX in March, with his Pittsburgh-based surgeon, Dr. Hae-Dong Jho. Angle said he regained full strength just four days after the first surgery, whereas it has taken his body about six weeks this time. “But it wasn’t even that bad,” Angle said. “It was 95 percent strength. I just wanted to be 100 percent.”
