    Breaking The Walls Down

Hello all and welcome back to another edition of Breaking The Walls Down. Due to a rather horrible Internet connection at home (messed up phone lines), I haven’t really been able to get onto LoP at all for the past week or so. Unless one of my friends tells me about it, I haven’t heard about it. So, in short, I’m going to skip Bits and Pieces yet again and go straight to the column.

    Random Thoughts

First and foremost, I hope all of you enjoy the holidays and are safe. I know I am going to enjoy Christmas and New Years, because I will actually get a chance to spend some time with my wife, which will be nice. My wife very generously bought two tickets to the Eagles game this past Sunday. It was my first NFL game live and I took my brother (another rabid Eagles fan). Yes, the Eagles lost and that upset us, but we had one heck of a time. It was truly a unique and awesome experience. That was one heck of a Christmas present, thank you hon.

Wonderful, Triple H won the title back. Joy, can you feel the joy that I am indulging myself in right now? Can you feel the excitement I have at what new and interesting storylines can come about with Triple H as the champ? Wow, it’s been so long since he’s held the title. You know, I would feel differently if he was involved in some interesting storylines and he put over more people that he does. The years of a world champion holding the belt for several years is long gone. Why do I fear that Triple H is trying to bring that back?

For some reason, Randy Orton with the IC Title seems like a perfect fit. His push may be a bit premature, but he’s evolving nicely right before our eyes. I like his finisher, his moves, and his charisma. He should prove to be an interesting IC Champion, especially once he doesn’t rely so much on that legend killer gimmick.

Batista is a monster. There’s no getting around that. He’s got to be a champion some day (aside from tag champion). I think this guy has a ton of potential. I hope he follows in the path of other big, strong wrestlers (i.e. Hogan, Goldberg, etc.) and not the paths of the now almost forgotten big, strong wrestlers (i.e. Warlord, Sid Vicious, etc.). Batista really has a lot of untapped potential. He’s what they said he would be when he was in OVW, a monster.

Well, goodbye to Nathan Jones. I’m not quite sure why I never really got into his character. Everyone kept talking this guy up and he flopped in my eyes. He had the look (great look), great build, seemed athletic, but when you got him in the ring, he worried me he was going to hurt the other wrestler. Hopefully he can find what he’s looking for in his career (I know I can sympathize with him in that regard).

Random thought, who would win in the following match: Vince McMahon vs. Don King. Keep in mind it would probably be a “No Holds Barred Match”.

I am very interested in seeing where the Mick Foley storyline goes. Call it an old fan, call it a fascination with his career, I want to know. I’m really curious to see how they are going to move this angle. Foley left, which means he got counted out, which means he’s not allowed on RAW anymore, right? Does this mean he’ll show up on Smackdown to mess with Vince McMahon personally?

O.K., now that RVD has had an interview and he says that he WANTS to stay in the WWE, how long until he wears the title and takes the world title to a whole new level? The one thing that confused me was that I thought RVD was ticked off with the way Triple H runs the backstage. If that is the case, why does he want to return to the WWE?

I don’t know why, but the Chris Jericho, Christian, Trish Stratus, and Lita storyline is entertaining me. I can’t explain it, but I’m fixated on it. I like the interaction between these four and I’m hoping that maybe Christian can get a little rub from Jericho. Christian is a hard worker who, unfortunately, is seemingly held back because of his size.

I would like to say in closing that the WWE is at a better point at the end of this year than they were at the end of last year. I’m not saying the WWE’s troubles are over, because they are not, but what I am saying is that they’ve shown some improvement. You have to give them that much.

Also, if any of you know of a company seeking a technical writer/trainer, please e-mail me. My office is set up so that I can telecommute from home. Thanks.

Well, that will do it for this week. I hope all of you enjoy the holidays and stay safe. And, as always, join me as I try to “educate people on the realness of the fakeness of professional wrestling”©.

    Later,
    Chris Dailey
