WWE News: Reasoning behind Evolution's title sweep at Armageddon

  • Many of you might be wondering what the WWE was thinking when it put ever single championship on Raw (with the exception of the Women's Championship) onto Evolution. WWE officials apparently did this because, with heels controlling all of the belts, it will give the top faces (i.e. RVD, Shawn Michaels, Booker T, etc) something to rally behind and it works to help push the face side of Raw while setting up new storylines and feuds heading into the Royal Rumble.

As expected, many WWE superstars backstage were not happy with the fact that Triple H won the World Heavyweight Championship. Most feel that "The Game" used his power behind the scenes to remove the championship from Goldberg right at the time when "Da Man" was starting to really gain popularity with the fans. It is well known that Triple H is against having Goldberg in the WWE and spoke up about him during a recent meeting between Goldberg's contract agent and Vince McMahon.

Randy Orton's push continued with his Intercontinental Championship win. "The Legend Killer" is expected to break off from Evolution at some point in the future and feud with Triple H.

With the championship off Goldberg, there is now serious doubt about if the WWE will decide to go with a Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar match at Wrestlemania 20. The original plan was to do a "Champion vs. Champion" bout between the two, as most expected Goldberg & Lesnar to hold onto their championships going into Wrestlemania, and that a "Champion vs. Champion" match would add a bit more meaning to their eventual confrontation in the ring. However, unless Goldberg regains the title in the months leading up to the big event in Madison Square Garden, it looks like a Goldberg/Lesnar match is becoming more unlikely by the second.
