The Rant of the Week: God I hate Turkey...

Greetings conversationalists all across the fruited plain, it is I your personal Harvester of Sorrow Phantom Lord and this is my Rant of the Week. God I hate turkey. I mean it’s ok on a sandwich with ham, lettuce, tomato, and cheese. But on the whole I can not stand cooked turkey. Add to the fact that my birthday falls very close to thanksgiving and you can understand why it’s not one of my favorite holidays. Sure getting together with the part of my family that gives a shit about me and the four day weekend are good, but I can do with out the turkey. How about at a hand to President Bush. Normally the American media picks up on something as big as the President flying to Iraq, but somehow he and a few of his aides manages to fool his parents, secret service agents, and the media for a quick trip to visit the troops in Iraq. Personally I would never fly 27 hours just to stay for two hours, but it indeed was a nice treat for the soldiers in Iraq. Kudo’s to Bush for pulling that one off.

Now some of my foreign readers are a bit ticked that I don’t cover wrestling enough. I don’t know how that’s possible since I am one of the most informed writers out there. I still devote 90% to all that wrestling stuff. The other 10 is what I like to refer to as my filler material. But where to start with the wrestling this week? Well as usual Triple H got his way on live tv when he stuck his large nose into the main event for the Armedgeon. Jesus it’s been 3 straight PPV’s with him taking on Goldberg. Enough all ready. It’s time to move along and start this damn feud with Goldberg and Kane which should prove to be more entertaining then Triple H/Goldberg. I remember a time when if you lost a rematch then you fell to the bottom of the pile and you had to work your way back up. Why not make Triple H work for his spot for once…yeah like that would ever happen.

That’s how I would book Wrestlemania 20. But hey, if they can pull off Steamboat/Flair one more time I’ll easily forgive Vince for using Austin’s last match as his own ego stroke. Like we would really want to see Hogan vs. Austin anyways. All I know is if it’s going to be a 5 hour show and $50 to order on Pay Per View then maybe, that $754 ring side seat price might have been justified. I kinda doubt it, but it looks like for once the Uncreative team is doing some long term booking.

As usual NWA-TNA put on a great show this past week. I think people who say it’s nothing but has been WCW/ECW guys should just sit down and watch the show with an open mind. TNA is finally about to start the Raven/C.M. Punk feud that has been tearing up the indies for the last few months. Add to that they look like they are going to start a Christopher Daniels/Low Ki feud and the whole thing with Jarrett/Hogan is getting better by the week. The thing I love about TNA is you pay for 2 hours of solid action and they deliver. I think I’m going to get myself a Girl’s of TNA calendar. 2004 might be a bad year, but at least I’ll have them to cheer me up.

Can we just give the comeback wrestler of the year award to Quebeccer Pierre? Since coming to TNA as the mystery monster X, he has just torn up the X Division. It’s scary how damn agile he really he is. He has easily the most brutal finisher in the country with his package piledriver. Add to that the fact he has speed and he can fly, at 260 lbs he truly might be the most agile man of his size around. I wouldn’t be surrprised if the WWE signs him sometime next year. I mean I at least liked the Jean Pierre Lafayette gimmick. He and Bret Hart had a pretty good feud…all though it was over Bret’s jacket.

Speaking of Bret, I’m getting a feeling that the impossible might happen and Bret might actually come back for one last match. According to Kurt Angle, the stroke Bret had isn’t what is preventing him from wrestling. It’s the concussion that’s doing it. Taking falls causes him to get really bad migraine headaches. If they can figure out a way to get rid of those, the mother of all matches between Bret and Angle is not out of the question. It’s better that Bret would face Angle because we all know if Vince had it up to him he would face Bret in that match to settle the screwjob once and for all.
