  • It appears that the Smackdown Tapings in Boise, Idaho won't go down without a bit of controversy along with it. In an article in The Arbiter Online, it was reported that there was an emergency meeting of the Boise State Women's Center Advisory Board held last week, to discuss how upset they were about a WWE event being held on the Boise State University campus. The Women's Center coordinator, Melissa Wintrow, had this to say:

"I would challenge people to examine why they find it entertaining to see women disrobed, attacked and figuratively raped in the middle of a cheering crowd. We've been devoting precious staff and monetary resources toward violence prevention activities, including a 24-hour sexual assault response team. This event works against all those efforts. It is one more roadblock to our success as a university in promoting a safe and healthy learning community."

However, despite protests from the Women's Center, the show will go on as planned. Joyce Grimes, the Executive Director for the Pavilion, has stated that since the Pavilion was a public venue, they don't discriminate against shows and events just because they may not like or agree with the content.
