Report sent in by Mike Wright a.k.a. Enygma

I attended the Smackdown tapings and would like to share the results with everyone. Cheap shameless plug on my end is that I am in fact, an independent worker named Enygma and my website is http://www.geocities.com/wowenygma/Enygma.html and I work mostly in the Dallas area. Big ups to the other indy workers I ran into last night that I've either shared ring time with or have been booked on the same cards as such as iron Mike Skillz, Miss Behavin', and Leo Palooza. Anyhoos, on to the spoilers!

    Dark Matches
Started wit the usual 'don't throw anything in the ring' spiel that accompanies every live show and went to a Wrestlemania 20 promo. Believe it or not, when they showed the Ultimate Warrior, there was an audible groan, which i found hilarious. Crowd went bonkers everytime they showed Austin or Bret.

Orlando Jordan pinned Kanyon with a flying crossbody (6:11)
Nothing special. Kanyon looked as crisp as ever and seemed to be alot better timed than Jordan. Highlight of the match was Kanyon landing a russian legsweep from the middle turnbuckle.

Jeremy Lopez pinned Masata with a flying DDT (4:44)
Being a worker, I usually give people the benefit of the doubt but these guys looked horrible. They said lopez was a Houstonian but I've never heard of him in my career and no one I was with had either, so maybe they were just looking for a little false hometown heat a la Chilly Willy.

Josh Matthews and Bill DeMott are introduced as the Velocity announcers. Rousing round of indifference.

Nunzio w/Johnny The Bull pinned Paul London w/Spanky via a missile dropkick (6:49)
Very good match as the two clicked great and the outside interference was timed just right. Should look great on TV.

Sean O'Haire pinned Ultimo Dragon with the Apocalype (4:24)
Typical power vs. speed stock match. I started on my second margarita about this point. I could rant and rave all day about the Toyota Center's prices. Next time WWE rolls through I might want to partake in a part-time job before I go. 9 bucks a rita? Ouch!

Chuck Palumbo pinned Funaki with a fallaway slam (5:46)
Oh, am I going to catch it for this but Chuck seemed to be busting his ass in there! Watch the match on Saturday and tell me that Chuck didn't look damned good in this match. Dare you!

Scotty 2 Hotty w/Rikishi pinned Rhyno via The Worm (4:55)
Didn't pay as much attention to the match as I did to the amazing amount of offense that Scotty got. Then to top it off, Rhyno laid down for the worm, which HAS to mean some higher power is pissed at him.

Tazz and Cole are introduced and Smackdown begins.

Vince comes out to piss and moan about how beaten up he is and he does, in fact, look horrible. He brings up the fact that the only thing that saved him was a massage by Sable. The segment starts getting dull until John Cena saves the day! He busts a rap about Vince and his "slut", I won't ruin it for you but it was the highlight of the night.

Cut to Brock Lesner chastising Team Lesner about Survivor Series and he makes two matches between Big Show and Cena and Chris Benoit vs. Nathan Jones for tonight.

Rey Mysterio pinned Jimmy Yang (couldn't hear his new gimmick name) via a West Coast Pop (6:53)
Man man man, what in the world was in these guys? Good match but it seemed like they were working a heavy style and straying as far away from their cruiser roots as possible. Awesome spot into a DDT by Rey that has to be seen to be believed. far too complex to describe.

Paul Heyman is looking for Shannon Moore and instead finds the Bashams having their asses whipped by Shaniqua and liking it. After that F.U.B.A.R.s him, he find Moore and explains that since Matt has jumped ship, all he can do is make Shannon a bigger star than Matt every was. He then books Shannon Moore vs. Matt Morgan for tonight and leaves Shannon looking worried.

Matt Morgan pinned Shannon Moore by way of a sitout powerbomb (2:56)
Morgan sucks really bad and it shows. Don;t care who this gets back to, but man, Moore bumped like a pinball to make this guy look like gold and the crowd still sat on their hands. Watch out for the hiptoss from the ring to the floor as it is SICK.

A-Train pinned Bradshaw with a bicycle kick (5:47)
    If you've seen it once....

Chris Benoit beat Nathan Jones by way of submission via a Crippler Crossface (5:59) Brock was out to do commentary and after the match pearl harbored Benoit and left him laying. Shortly after that, Bob Holly appeared out of nowhere and just LAID into Lesner. Cops came out and cuffed Holly as Heyman appeared and told Holly he was a liability and it was better for his sake that he went to jail and off he went.

Next was the Kane eulogy which basicallywas just him saying that he didn't kill the Undertakerbut the Undertaker was dead a few years ago. Undertaker became a common human and not a monster like Kane remembered him to be. Obviously a setup for the Deadman as even before Kane left he gave the trademark "Rest.....In....Peace".

Tajiri (c) w/Yakuza pinned Jaime Noble to retain the Cruiserweight Title (6:20)
Good little fast pacedmatch that saw Nidia come out stumbling around blind which in turndistratced Noble. As Noble was trying ot talk to Nidia, Tajiri came from behind and schoolboyed him for the 1-2-3.

Backstage, Benjamin & Haas pull Paul Heyman to the side andask to fight Los Guerreros. Paul ives them the match next.

Los Guerreros beat World's Greatest Tag Team when Eddy pinned Haas via a frog splash (3:57)
Really short match but Eddy had to have gotten the best crowd reaction as they were SOLIDLY behind him and chanting "Eddy" more timesthan I thought possible in a 4 minute match. After the match, WGTT keeps Eddy out of the ring as they attempt to "Pillmanize" Chavo, including a sick stretch with the chair to his leg. Eddy gets a chair and clears the ringbut he and Chavo have words anyway.

Promo for Ernest Miller which has many old farts trying to dance like The Cat. Truly, truly bizarre.

Guerreros bicker backstage similar to recent weeks. Except this time Chavo makes reference to starting to only trust "his real friends"

Backstage, Vince makes it very clear that he wants Cena destroyed for earlier.

John Cena pinned U.S. Champion The Big Show in a non-title match after hitting him with stairs while the ref was outside the ring (10:48)
Very strong reaction for Cena throughout this match. Big Show completely screwed up a powerbomb twice so I'm sure that will find its way to the cutting room floor. Also, Cena came back and hit him with the stairs again and they played all the music over again, so they might have retaped the ending as well. Not too bad of a match as Cena seems to have his face timing down very well, as in when exactly to make a comeback, when to tease a hope spot, and other things.

All in all, not the best show, but not the worst. Just far too much of Team Lesner which slowed things down ALOT. Crowd wasn't as hot as they usually are here in Houston, and that's counting Badd Blood. I wouldn't have hoped for anything close to Wrestlemania X-7 or the 9/11 show but the crowd just didn't seem to pop foranything but Eddy and Cena. Now is the time to make new stars. Hope they pick the right ones.

    Smackdown:

-Vince comes out with a cast and crutches, plus stitches selling his SS match vs. Undertaker. He also comes out with Sable. Vince goes on about how UT beat him, yet an angel (Kane) from his higher power came to save the day. To thank him, Vince has invited Kane to be a special guest to deliver his brother’s “eulogy.”John Cena comes out, and dices Vince on the microphone. Cena was over.

-Backstage, Brock berates the rest of his SS team for making him tap. He says that they can make it up to him tonight, and he states that Nathan Jones will face Benoit and that he will be in Jones’ corner, and that Big Show will go against John Cena, thanks to Brock’s talking with Paul Heyman before the show. Good promo by Lesnar.

-Rey Mysterio beat Akio with the 619-springboard huricanrana in 6:53

-Backstage, Paul Heyman is looking for Shannon Moore. He asks a guy reading the new Smackdown magazine if he had seen Moore. The guy had not. Behind one wall, he finds Shaniqua beating the Bashams dominatrix style…as a celebration of their SS win over the Guerreros. Heyman finds Moore, and tells him that he is not mad at him for Matt Hardy’s defection to Raw. Rather, he is going to make Moore a star…..against Matt Morgan next.

-Matt Morgan beat Shannon Moore in 2:54 with a sit-down powerbomb.

-A Train beat Bradshaw with the mule kick in 5:52

-Brock Lesnar comes to the ring to second Nathan Jones in his match vs. Benoit. Lesnar receives huge “you tapped out” chants.

-Chris Benoit beat Nathan Jones with the crippler crossface in 5:59 Postmatch saw Benoit get beaten down by Lesnar, to be saved by Hardcore Holly. Holly is then thrown in jail and indefinitely suspended by Heyman.

-Kane comes out to give his brother the eulogy promised by Vince earlier. This segment was hot in the beginning, but died near the end. Basically, Kane said the brother he knew died a long time ago, and this compassionate helpful Undertaker was a fraud of a man.

-Tajiri beat Jamie Knoble in 4:49 with a roll-up made possible by Noble being distracted by a blind Nidia walking down to ringside with a cane.

-Backstage, the World’s Greatest Tag Team tells Heyman how bad they want the Guerrero’s, and what they are going to do to them.

-Guerreros beat WGTT in 3:57 with an Eddy frog splash. Postmatch saw WGTT attack Chavo’s leg with a chair, putting the leg in between the chair, and using the chair as a sort of modified toe hold. Eddy couldn’t save at first, and then got the chair to make the save. They teased tension again between Eddy and Chavo

Cat Video aired. He’s coming next Thursday.

-recap Eddy-Chavo in the ring moments ago. Cut to backstage, where Chavo is berating Eddy for his mistakes and miscues the past few weeks. Eddy tries to talk to Chavo but Chavo has none of it. When the trainer refuses to give Chavo a shot for the leg pain, Chavo mutters something about hanging with his “real friends.”

-John Cena beat Big Show non-title in 11:04 with a steel steps shot to the head. They did another step shot again, possibly as a re-tape for editing later.

    Pops:
Eddy (way over, Eddy chants before, during, and after his match)
Cena (more during segment with Vince)
    Rey

    Heat:
    Vince
    Brock
    Kane
