Segment #1
As always the WWE started things off with a great video package which ran down every match on the card tonight. A few pyrotechnics later and we are Live! at the 2003 Survivor Series.
Match # 1: Elimination Match, Team Angle (Bradshaw, Chris Benoit, Hardcore Holly, John Cena and Kurt Angle) vs. Team Lesnar (A-Train, Big Show US Champ, Brock Lesnar WWE Champ, Matt Morgan and Nathan Jones)
Analysis: Before the match John Cena cut an excellent rap. Even mentioned how, yes, one of the main events is on first! Each wrestler came down individually, which took forever. As soon as Brock got in the ring Hardcore Holly immediately attacked Lesnar, throwing him into the ring steps and beating him. Unfortunately, he knocked the ref out of the way causing him to be disqualified before the match even began! Before the advantage meant anything, however,
Bradshow quickly eliminated Bradshaw with a clothesline from hell. A split second later he was eliminated thanks to a Big Show choke slam. Cena came in, and was unsuccessful against both Big Show and Lesnar. Matt Morgan would come in and work over Cena a bit before tagging in Jones. Cena gets stuck in the wrong corner while the announcers hype the size of Team Lesnar. Cena got the tag after a surprise throwback and Benoit would come in to get beaten up a bit by Brock and Big Show respectively. Benoit did manage to grab the cross face for a moment before Lesnar came in to break in up. Liberal amounts of cheating led to the two teams eventually colliding on the outside. Benoit would eventually get he tag to Angle, who quickly out dueled the entirety of Team Lesnar and eliminated Matt Morgan with the Angle slam and Nathan Jones a moment later with the
ankle lock. Some debut for those two! Out of no where Brock runs in to F5 Kurt Angle and scored the pin, eliminating one of the two captains! This leaves Benoit and Cena vs. Lesnar and Big Show. Lesnar went for an F5 but Benoit reversed it to the cross face. He did get his foot on the ropes, but Benoit put it on in the center of the ring. Lesnar submitted, and the crowd chanting €œYou tapped out!€ Benoit got destroyed by Big Show until a blind tag allows Cena to knock TBS in the head with a chain.
Finish: After the chain shot John Cena hit a five hundred pound FU to score
the final pin.
Segment #2
Vince goes to talk to Shane, pointing out that father and son are fighting the two brothers. He says he feels some spirituality due to this. Shane says he only feels sorry, for Vince. Vince walks out and bumps into Austin. The two stare one another down and begin to laugh, before Austin glares at Vince and walks away. This was a truly bizarre segment.
Match # 2: Women€™s Championship, Lita vs. Molly Holly ©
Analysis: I just realized that Lita looks very similar to a girl I once dated. I like being me. It would have been an even better story if she had Lita€™s awesome boots, but oh well. The two women wrestled well, marked by a perfect vertical suplex to Molly followed by a nip-up by Lita. Molly would gain the advantage by reversing a springboard leg scissors to toss Lita outside. The pace slowed with a dragon sleeper on Lita in the center of the ring. Lita had a hope spot with ten punches at the turnbuckle, but that was ended by a sidewalk slam. Molly went for her own ten turnbuckle shots only to eat a power bomb. A side Russian leg sweep to set up for the Litasault, which missed. Molly sought to capitalize and hit a Molly go round €“ but only for a two count.
Finish: Frustrated after Lita kicked out Molly expose a middle turnbuckle and sweep the challenger face first into it and score the pin-fall.
Segment #3
The video package detailing the rather ridiculous Shane and Kane storyline is shown.
Match # 3 Ambulance Match, Shane vs. Kane
Analysis: This match featured one high spot after another from the moment the bell rang. A cactus clothesline over the top took Shane and Kane to the outside. From there Shane O€™Mac hit Kane with everything under the sun. The ring steps, a chair, a monitor and capped it all off with an elbow drop from the top rope onto Kane through the Spanish announce table. The chase was on. Shane led Kane to the back where he flanked him and bludgeoned him with a Kendo stick. He ran him over with a car; with a camera feed loss, through a security booth of glass. I wish I were making this up. Grabbing a walkie talkie Shane yelled for the ambulance, which drove up. Before the monster could be strapped down, however, he sat up and began throwing the owners son around the backstage and back to the arena; with another camera feed loss. Kane threw Shane through the
ambulance windshield at one point, before he lost the advantage. Kane ate a door to the face twice, without even raising a hand block. This is getting disturbing. Kane knocked Shane down with a boot, and almost had Shane locked in before he fought his way out. Shane spring boarded off the ambulance before hitting a piss poor tornado DDT on the floor. More spots preceded Shane climbing to the top of the ambulance to drop kick a garbage can into Kane€™s face while he was knocked down. Shane put Kane into the ambulance, but Kane pulled him in and fought his way out. He would slam Shane back first into the ambulance three times, head first once, and choke slam him into it for good measure.
Finish: Kane finally ended it by giving Shane the Tombstone onto the concrete
and throwing Shane into the ambulance.
Segment # 4
A commercial for WWE Fanatic 100% Stratusfaction Guaranteed is shown. Then Josh Mathews would interview Brock Lesnar, who claims not to have lost or have tapped out in his high and whiney voice. Suddenly, Bill Goldberg would walk up, and introduce himself. Lesnar glares at him as Bill asks if he going to wish him luck. With a chortle, Bill walks away. We cut to the ring where the Coach comes down with a neck brace to sell the 3D the Dudley Boyz gave him. He assures the crowd that their get well wishes have been heard, and the Coach will be better soon. Before he can leave, however, he notices the Mavericks owner Mark Cuban (Who is a stupid, stupid looking man) is spotted. Coach asks him what he is most looking forward to. What else could he say but seeing Stone Cold Steve Austin kick Eric Bishoff€™s ass? Coach informs him that will not be
happening. An easier question is asked, who has the better referees. What else could he say but that all referees suck? Bishoff comes ringside and calls Mr. Cuban out. He runs Marky Mark down and gives him a shove. The retaliation sends Eric out of the ring. Cuban is distracted long enough for Randy Orton to run down and deliver the neck-breaker onto Mark Cuban. Cutting to the back we see Evolution partying with a few hot girls to celebrate the new World Champion, HHH. Randy Orton comes back (a girl pinches his nipple) and tells of the newest legend he€™s killed. Limbizkit€™s album is hyped to end the long segment which
was clearly designed to calm the crowd down after the Shane and Kane match.
Match # 4 Smackdown Tag team Championship, Los Guerreros vs. The Basham Brothers ©
Analysis: I find it odd at that the WWE supposedly thinks its fans are racist and sexist, and makes decisions based on that belief. Especially in light of the fact they chose a black woman to dominate two white men. If they really believed we hated females and minorities ouldn€™t they do it the other way around? Maybe they give us more credit than we believe. Los Guerreros entered in a modified pickup hot rod, complete with spinning rims. The New Latino Order was in control until Shaniqua hit a body slam on Eddie to the arena floor. Eddie would hit a flying head scissors to get the tag to Chavo, who came in a real house of fire. A double flap jack would finish that though. The Bashams go for their modified Power bomb off the top but Eddie makes the save, hitting a hurricanrana off the top rope. Chavo is on fire once again, but a double clothesline allows Shaniqua to distract the ref so the switch can be made. Los Guerreros take their revenge though, with a frog splash and spanking to make her pay. All this would allow the Bashams to regroup. Chavo hit a swinging DDT but accidentally caught Eddie with his legs.
Finish: When Chavo went to check on Eddie, Danny made the switch and grabbed a fistful of tights to roll him up for the pin. After the match Chavo and Eddie had words.
Segment # 5
A commercial for Armageddon is shown. The announcers played up Shane€™s hospital visit. The video package detailing the history of Stone Cold Steve Austin, leading up to his problems with Eric Bishoff and their chosen team elimination match.
Match # 5 Elimination Match: Team Austin (Booker T, Bubba Ray Dudley, Devon Dudley, RVD and Shawn Michaels) vs. Team Bishoff (Chris Jericho, Christian, Mark Henry, Randy Orton and Scott Steiner)
Analysis: Bishoff and Austin lead their teams to the ring all together, which had to have been a decision made in light of how ridiculously long the introductions for the first match went. During the Team Austin introduction the announcers commented on the noise level in the arena. It was very good, but anyone who remembers the high point of wrestling remembers how crazy the crowds used to get when the glass shattered. Still, the crowd has been rather hot all night. By the way, Stacey €“ will you marry me? No? Damn it! Well, got to be persistent. Women love persistence. Devon and Christian start the match off with some good ol€™ fashioned rasslin€™. RVD comes in to take control, but Jericho gets the tag. Rob€™s high spots get the better of him for a while, but Jericho works him to his team corner to tag in Steiner. Steiner uses his power to work RVD over. Rob goes for numerous high flying attacks but cannot get them off before Steiner over powers him. Scott hits a belly to belly of the top, but Rob gets to the corner and tags in Booker T. Booker Hulks up and scissor kicks the former human being, Scott Steiner. Spinoroonie! Enter Team Bishoff, who breaks up a spine buster pinning attempt. All team members fight on the outside while Stacey looks hot. While the ref is distracted Steiner hits a low blow and grabs the Steiner recliner. Stacey gets on the apron to cheer for Booker T. Scott grabs my angel by the hair, but eats an inverted 3D by the Dudleyz. That€™ll show you. Next time I€™ll€ pay someone else€ to do it. A Bookend finishes Freakzilla. Mark Henry jumps in while Team Austin celebrates and pins Booker T before they know what happened. RVD and the Dudleyz attempt to take the big man off his feet, but are unsuccessful until a surprise 3D and a 5* Frog splash allows the lucha-style three man pin to eliminate Henry. Enter the Raw MVP Chris Jericho, who eats a split legged moonsault after an ill-conceived Irish-whip. Randy Orton gets the tag and works RVD over stiffly. Perhaps the longest running ECW champion is a fitting legend? Rob can be stiff as hell too, as we all know. Tight work here. RVD goes for the 5* but is pushed off by Jericho and eats an RKO. 1, 2 and 3. Devon comes in to avenge his team€™s loss, hitting the top
rope head butt to Orton. Then there was a blind tag to Jericho, who almost scores a pin with a missile dropkick. Christian distracts the ref before he can score a three-count on Jericho at one point, allowing Jericho to get one of his own. Bubba Ray hits a long held sidewalk slam on Jericho, before tagging in the showstopper finally. Hey, OVW, watch that man if you want to learn how to hold a crowd€™s attention. Christian and Jericho overwhelm him, before Orton
comes in to hit a drop kick where his own head hits the canvas. Shawn is allowed to tag in bubba, who hotshots and back body drops Christian like a rag doll. He beats on the entirety of Team Bishoff but finally, finally succumbs to an Unprettier. Shawn Michaels is all that remains for Austin. And the heels aren€™t playing fair, double-teaming the showstopper on the outside. Team Bishoff take turns tagging in to methodically destroy Shawn. This including a slingshot to the ring post, where Shawn would blade like Steve Corino does. He literately
exploded with crimson. Christian was attacking the cut of Shawn when he hit a super kick out of no where to literately collapse on him for a three count. The crowd is eating this up as JR prays for a miracle in Dallas. First Jericho then Orton attacks Michaels, who whips out every hope spot in the world to hang in there. After a DDT both Jericho and are down. Shawn gets an arm draped
over Jericho, but Orton breaks it up. Shawn tosses him to the outside. Jericho attempts a lionsault, but eats a pair of knees. The crowd is nuts at this point, cheering Michaels to get up. Shawn reverses the Walls of Jericho into a rollup to eliminate Jericho. Jericho is a wee bit peeved, and hits Michaels over the head with a steel chair since he is already eliminated. Orton crawls back into the ring to cover Shawn, but HBK kicks out. Randy goes to the top rope for
a cross body by Shawn moves, so the ref catches the brunt of it. Shawn is crawling, pulling himself up by the ropes. He calls for the super kick! Bishoff comes in to kick HBK but in comes Austin. A stunner for Orton! Now Bishoff is dragged out the arena like a dog.
Finish: Just when it looks like Shawn can get up to get the pin in comes Batista to hit a power bomb on Shawn Michaels, so Orton can just barely drape over an for a three count. Even though he was booked to look amazing I must say that Shawn€™s performance makes me want a cigarette. Austin goes to the ring to look at what is left of HBK, and put a hand on his bloody chest. Steve hugs Michaels to his feet, nods to him, and shake his hand despite the fact that now
he is €œFired€ from the WWE.
Segment # 6
After helping the Heart break Kid to the back Austin€™s music hits, and it seems Stone Cold is coming for a final curtain call. He grabs a microphone and talks about the start of his career in 1989 right in Dallas Texas. Though he wasn€™t looking forward to ending his career, if it€™s going to end at least he can feel justified that it started and ended in the same place. He thanks the fans for everything they have done for him. He says something that we probably have never heard before, that he loves the shit outa the fans. A touching two fingers salute to his fans is interrupted by a singing (You know the song) Jonathon Coachman flanked by a cadre of independent workers. Did I say that? I meant security guards. Obviously Coach hasn€™t watched WWE television before. Stone Cold quickly dispatches the rent-a-fake-cops and gives the Coach the ass-kicking that 3:16 stands for. Kick + Spin -> Stunner. We need beer, send in the beer. Here comes the beer. For what is hyped to be the last time Stone Cold Steve Austin celebrates with the beer and his fans. Tazz and Michael Cole hype
up the next match, buried alive. The video package is played of course.
Match # 6 Buried Alive, The Undertaker vs. Vince McMahon
Analysis: Vince starts the match off playing up the idea that a higher power is going to protect him. The idea didn€™t help his son too much. Undertaker beats the owner down early, and Vince blades big time. Ring-post pull to the owner€™s grapefruits. Vince is spurting blood like a teenager with his first girlfriend, I wonder if he nicked a vessel. €˜Taker takes Vince to the outside to choke him with a camera cable and beat him with a monitor. Seriously though, Vince is bleeding a scary amount. €˜Taker goes to the grave for a shovel, which he bludgeons Vince over the head with. We go back to the outside, where
Undertaker crushed the ankle of Mr. McMahon between the steel steps. €˜Taker lifts Vince into a fireman€™s carry to carry him to the gravesite. Vince grabs some dirt
and tosses it into €˜Takers eyes. I once won a fight with that move. A low blow causes the Undertaker to fall down in front of the grave. Grabbing another shovel he hits Taker in. Quickly crawling out of the hole he pulls Vince in and goes to the steam shovel by the mound. An explosion of fire blows him out though, and suddenly Kane appears. He places Taker in the hole and pulls Vince out.
Finish: Vince crawls into the loader and drops a load of dirt onto the hole; burying The Undertaker alive like did Kirk to Khan while Kane gives the biker salute in the foreground. Khaaaaaaan!
Segment # 7
The video package of the history of HH and the bounty on Goldberg is shown.
Match # 7 World Championship Match, HHH vs. Bill Goldberg ©
Analysis: I notice that Hunter has lost a lot of definition recently. Either he is trying to lose the bulk (Which will follow after muscle tone as we all know) or Stephanie is a really good cook. Goldberg spears HHH before the match even starts and then goes to work on Ric Flair. After Flair is thrown out the bell rings and Hunter gets tossed as well. Outside the ring Goldberg powers
the Greenwich Blue Blood into the steps. Back in the ring Hunter cheats enough to take control, take Bill outside and make Bill€™s leg eat some chair. Hunter goes into the ring so Flair can slam the ankle of Goldberg into the ring post. Goldberg gets in the ring where Hunter goes to work on the cast-covered leg of Bill Goldberg. When going to wrap Bill€™s legs around the post Bill pulls HHH into it face first instead. HHH jumps back in and ties the leg in the ropes, but Bill pounds his way out. Both men go down, and Bill is first to his feet. A
press slam is escaped, where the leg is chopped. The Game tries a figure four or a sharpshooter but is kicked into the ref. Flair tosses the brass knuckles and Hunter clocks the champ with them, but only gets a two-count. Hunter tries a sledgehammer shot but is kicked away by the bad leg instead. Flair goes to the top but, well you know what happens. Sledgehammer shot to Flair, then to Batista and Orton who run in. HHH tries a pedigree but Goldberg back body drops him out of it. A second spear to the owner€™s son-in-law and the crowd is on their feet.
Finish: After the spear Bill hit up the jackhammer and pinned the challenger. The announcers play up that Bill Goldberg has just defeated all of Evolution, single-handedly, on one leg. Believe the hype as the show fades out.
