2-ON-1 HANDICAP MATCH
THE BIG SHOW vs. PAT CUSACK & MURRAY HAPPER:
Very quick match, The Big Show took all of about 1 minute to destroy both of his opponents, manhandling and slamming both of them before hitting both men with ShowStoppers and picking up the win! YOUR WINNER: THE BIG SHOW
The Rock gives us a peek at his new movie, The Rundown, which also stars Seann William Scott and Christopher Walken.
Time for the next match.
MATT HARDY Ver. 1 vs. JOEY MATTHEWS:
Matt, feeling right at home in his native North Carolina, locked up with his fellow OMEGA alum and the two traded a nice series of chain wrestling before Matt gets Joey into the corner, then, just as Matthews tries for a cheap shot, Matt Hardy fired back out of the corner and sent Joey for the ride with a hiptoss.
Matt rained down on Joey from the second rope with a series of right hands then Matt scored with a slam before looking for the Downfall legdrop. Mathews rolled out of the way and after hanging Matt out to dry across the top rope, Joey scored with a neckbreaker before choking Matt out across the second rope.
Matt retaliated with a flying forearm off of the ropes then after a back elbow dropped Mathews, Matt scored with a legdrop. Mathews tried to slow the pace with a sleeper but Matt countered with the Ricochet before firing up with a series of right hands. A clothesline set Mathews up across the second rope for Matt to get a head of steam and drop all of his weight across the second rope.
Matt looked for the Side Effect and although Mathews countered the first effort, Matt’s second Side Effect attempt found its mark. Mathews kicked out at two and then came from the top rope with a clying forearm but as Joey came charging into the corner, Matt got the boot up and after the Downfall legdrop found its mark, Joey befell an unfortunate Twist of Fate. Matt connected with his vaunted finisher and three seconds later, the sensai of Mattitude was celebrating a hard-fought win with his fellow North Carolinians! YOUR WINNER: MATT HARDY Ver. 1
ORLANDO JORDAN vs. CHUCK PALUMBO:
Palumbo got the early jump on Jordan but Orlando fired up after the official told Stamboli and Nunzio to head to the back, nearly picking up the win with a backslide. Palumbo turned the tide back in his favor in a hurry with a superkick to the back of the head, sending Jordan tumbling through the ropes to the floor!
Palumbo scooped Jordan up and hauled him back into the ring then after earning a nearfall, Palumbo scored with a series of shoulderblocks in the corner followed by a scintillating side belly-to-belly suplex. Palumbo scored with a Samoan Drop then after putting Jordan upside-down in the corner, Palumbo stomped away on the youngster in the corner before hauling off with right hands and a hard clothesline in the corner.
However, Jordan avoided a shoulderblock in the corner, sending Palumbo crashing into the ringpost. Orlando then scored with a flying forearm and a dropkick to pick up a nearfall and although Palumbo rolled through a top rope crossbody plancha to earn a two-count, Jordan hit his Black Ice finisher out of nowhere to pick up the pinfall! YOUR WINNER: ORLANDO JORDAN
SMACKDOWN RECAP:
Brock Lesnar and Kurt Angle locked horns in the first-ever Ironman Match to be held on network TV this past Thursday night on SmackDown! Brock gave up the first fall via DQ but the strategy showed itself as Lesnar took the next two falls to go up 2-1. With 15 minutes to go, Brock was up 5-2 but Kurt narrowed the margin with a top rope belly-to-belly suplex then with five minutes to go, Kurt cut his deficit to 5-4 by making Brock submit to the AngleLock. Lesnar played keep away from Angle for much of the remaining time and although Kurt had the AngleLock cinched in one more time, time ran out on Angle and Brock became a three-time WWE Champion!
WWE STING OF THE NIGHT: Rey Misterio & Chris Benoit picked up a great win over Tajiri and Rhyno this past week on SmackDown!
BILLY KIDMAN vs. SHANNON MOORE:
Moore backed Kidman into the corner before mocking Kidman and after scampering away from the former Cruiserweight Champion, Moore applied a side headlock and connected with a shoulderblock. Kidman fired back with a flying forearm and a headscissor takedown but Moore countered a series of punches in the corner by hiptossing Kidman into the turnbuckle.
Moore dropped his weight across the back of Kidman as he straddled the ropes then after applying a neckvice on the mat, Moore hurled Kidman into the corner with a hellacious Irish Whip. Moore snapmared Kidman out of the corner before applying a surfboard but after fighting his way to his feet, Kidman drilled Moore with a textbook dropkick to the face!
Kidman then countered a powerbomb into a hurancanrana then after sending Moore into the lights with a backdrop, Kidman hit his Spiccoli Driver into a neckbreaker. Moore swung the pendulum back in his favor with a leg lariat then Moore hit his version of Whisper in the Wind but Kidman stopped Moore’s momentum in a hurry with a BK Bomb. Kidman then dragged Moore into the corner, priming him for the Shooting Star Press and after the Press found its mark, Kidman scored the pinfall and picked up the win as Velocity came to a close! YOUR WINNER: BILLY KIDMAN
