News on upcoming Raw-Brand house shows, WWE to hold conference call on 8/26

  • We reported a story yesterday about an upcoming Raw-Brand house show in Knoxville which was featuring Triple H vs. "Y2J" Chris Jericho for the World Heavyweight Title. Naturally, we assumed that this could mean that either Jericho or Triple H would be walking out of Summerslam as the champion.

However, it now appears that the Jericho/HHH main event was just one of the various main events being advertised for the Raw-Brand house shows after Summerslam. On other shows, Triple H is listed as defending the championship against men like Rob Van Dam and Booker T (despite the fact that Booker is currently out with a possibly serious back injury). This could just be another showing of WWE trying to plan some matches ahead of time and could have no bearing on who will actually walk out of the Elimination Chamber match this Sunday as the World Heavyweight Champion. As you know, house show cards can be changed several times before the final and offical card is set in stone. We'll just have to wait and see if Triple H once again regains the gold, or if we'll finally have someone new as champion come Sunday.

  • The WWE plans on hosting a conference call on August 26th at 11 a.m. ET. The focus of the call will be to discuss the WWE's earnings for the first quarter of the 2004 fiscal year.
