Breaking The Walls DownHello and welcome back to another edition of Breaking The Walls Down. You are reading this column as I am on vacation right now. The annual vacation is a fun thing and a good time had by all. So, while I’m out, here’s my column. The wrestling world has not been forthcoming with news again, so I will forgo Bits and Pieces this week (as is becoming the norm lately) and go straight to the column. Zack Gowen’s Career Will Go Nowhere In The WWEZach Gowen is living a dream. He’s an employee of the WWE and is on national TV ever week on Smackdown. To top it off, he’s going to wrestle Vince McMahon himself this Sunday at the PPV (by the time you read this, he will have wrestled McMahon). By every conceivable notion, he’s living the dream, not only his dream but the dreams of thousands of wrestling fans. However, has tragic as this is to say, he DOES have a handicap and this will hinder him. I’m sure his handicap has hindered him before, but this is the WWE. The indy scene is one thing, but this is the WWE. I can’t see guys like Lesnar, Undertaker, Benoit, etc. wanting to lose to someone who has only one leg. This would taint their image in the fans eyes, thus making the big names lose credibility. Another thing is the fact that Zack Gowen seemingly weighs less than I do. I weigh about 190 lbs and he barely looks like he weighs that much. Granted Gowen looks like he has more skill in his finger than I do currently, but that doesn’t mean he’s WWE material. As mean as this may sound, Zack Gowen is there purely as a “special” attraction. I can see the WWE saying, “Come look at the one-legged wonder do a moonsault”. I’m wondering how long it will take until the word one-legged comes into play, if it hasn’t already. While Zack Gowen certainly is the “feel good” story for physically challenged people, he’s not the savior of the WWE nor he is a wrestler that has any long-term value. Once he wears off of the crowd, they will hardly care about it. Now, it’s easy for someone to say that I have something against Zack Gowen. Or, to a larger scale, I have something against physically challenged people. To both of those claims I say “Bah”. What I am simply doing is stepping back and looking at this from a distant perspective. Zack Gowen is in the WWE as a pure, if not freak, attraction. Once Vince McMahon sees that Gowen has lost his draw value he will be unceremoniously let go. Some may say he is proving that physically challenged people can compete in the WWE ring. I say let him gain seventy pounds or so of muscle and let him try it again in the WWE. Then, maybe he won’t be forgotten so quickly. Before I end this column, if anyone knows of a company in need of a software/hardware documentation specialist, software/hardware trainer, and/or QA Specialist for software, please let me know. My office is capable of telecommuting to work if necessary. Thanks. Well, that will do it for this week. I hope you all have a safe and happy week. And, as always, join me as I try to “educate people on the realness of the fakeness of professional wrestling” ©. Later, Chris Dailey *NEW GALLERY* WOW!! Brand New Karen Angle Photos!
