Breaking The Walls Down - What The WWE Has Going For Them

    Breaking The Walls Down

Hello all and welcome back to another edition of Breaking The Walls Down. Let’s get right into Bits and Pieces, shall we?

    Bits and Pieces

My Eagles are going to the NFC Championship. I almost lost my voice last game and threw out my right arm during the game, but it’s all good. I can only hope for a victory this Sunday against a very tough Tampa Bay team.

D’Lo Brown is playing the race card now, or should I say the WWE is having him play the race card. That angle certainly makes me care.

A stand up performance by Matt on Tough Enough this past Thursday. Matt took a beating at the hands of Bob Holly and continued through the match and then thanked Bob at the end. A very tough lesson to learn, but this proves to the trainers Matt has what it takes in regards to respect and learning the tougher lessons the WWE has to teach. My prediction of Matt winning may be coming true.

    And now, onto the column.

What The WWE Has Going For Them

Talent. The WWE has talent, and lots of it. So much talent, the WWE has it coming out of its proverbial ears. Guys like Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, Kurt Angle, Edge, RVD, Kane, Booker T, Lance Storm, The Dudley Boys, William Regal, Batista, Brock Lesnar, Shawn Micheals, Chris Jericho, Christian, Rey Mysterio Jr., The Undertaker, Triple H, Scott Steiner, and many others fill the WWE roster.

Loyal fans. No matter how bad the shows get, apparently the WWE is still keeping its loyal fans around. The ratings never go below the low 3.0s. Now, that doesn’t mean the WWE should abuse these fans, but it does show that they do have fans who are willing to stick through the stuff that is going on right now.

Vince McMahon. The genius himself is back on TV. A good move here. Sure, we complain when the McMahons take up too much TV time, but this is Vince McMahon. After he’s been gone for a bit, you truly do realize how much he means to the WWE product. He needs to be on TV to get the crowds riled up and the fans at home entertained.

All signs are pointing towards Steve Austin and The Rock returning with a possibility of Bill Goldberg debuting. What does this mean? Simple, ratings, buy-rates, merchandise sales, attendance, interest all go up, which translates into money, the thing the WWE needs right now. And, to get the almighty dollar, they have to generate those other things first. Austin, Rock, and Goldberg can help them do that.

Vince Russo no longer works for the company. Enough said there.

The Royal Rumble PPV is this Sunday and that means Wrestlemania is right around the corner. What does that mean for the WWE? Well, hopefully that means renewed interest in the WWE product, which would lead to increased income. Wrestlemania has always been the end for many feuds and the beginning for others. This is the big event for the WWE, hopefully it comes around for them.

Finally, as it stands, the RAW 10th Anniversary which is tonight. Hopefully that in and of itself generates interest with the prospect of having surprise appearances by past wrestlers. I know that certainly makes me interested. I am curious to see what Vince McMahon will do with this.

I decided to write this column because my column (as well as many others) have been very negative towards the WWE lately. I think so much in fact that many have forgotten what the WWE has done that is good. Hopefully this column helps some of you think about more of the positives than the negatives.

Well, that will do it for this week. I hope all of you have a safe and happy week. And, as always, join me as I try to “educate people on the realness of the fakeness of professional wrestling”. ©

    Later,
    Chris Dailey
