Memphis Wrestling: The Home of Rhythm and Bruise
Welcome all, this is Wac, back on the best wrestling site on the internet, the Lords of Pain. We are back for the 7th week of Memphis Wrestling, Live on UPN. Show starts with the same classic Memphis Wrestling introduciton, only to be interrupted once again by the XWF intro.
Corey Maclin is at the announce table by himself, and he runs down the card for the show, and then announces that he was able to get both Jimmy Hart and the XWF Tag Team Champions Shock & Awe suspeneded for today's show. He goes on to say, that since Hart isn't here, then neither are his stooges Bert Prentice or Dave Penzer. However, Maclin says that Hart will be here via a taped message, so we still have to see his face anyway! Maclin then shows some footage that he managed to tape after last weeks show, and it showed Jimmy Hart finding Dave Penzer tied up with ducktape from head to toe outside the building, and laughs saying Bill Dundee was responsible for it. He then rings the bell for the first match of the day.
"Dangerous" Doug Gilbert Vs. King Cobra
This is King Cobra's debut with MW, and he looks like a older version of Norman Smiley. Gilbert comes out and says that to pay Maclin back, Hart is trying to get Jerry Lawler and Brian Christopher suspended as well. By the way, Gilbert is the only member of Harts XWF 1st Family that is here today. The match starts off with Cobra controlling with takedowns and restholds, trying to keep Gilbert off his feet. King Cobra actually controls the majority of this short match with various submission type moves. The finish comes with Cobra up on the ropes hitting the 10 punches, and as the ref pulls him out of the corner, Gilbert pulls the chain out of his pants and clocks Cobra with it and covers him for the 1, 2, 3.
Winner: Doug Gilbert via use of Chain
Maclin then welcomes out 1/2 of the NWA Tag Team Champions, "Wildcat" Chris Harris! Harris conducts a short interview, simply stating that he has took a beating competing in matches here lately, obviously referring to his Cage match he had on TNA Wednesday night, but says that the Wildcat will keep on rollin! He then gets into the ring for some action.
"Wildcat" Chris Harris Vs. Rex Sexton
Harris controls early on, with left arm lariats and a nice powerslam, but Sexton eventually takes over using your various heel tactics. After about 2 eyerakes, Sexton has Harris reeling, and keeps up the punishment with lef arm lariats of his own. Sexton whips Harris into the corner, and stomps away on Harris as the crowd is really starting to get behind Harris at this point. Sexton whips Harris into the opposite corner, but Harris explodes out of it with a huge spear! He picks Sexton up, and goes for the Catatonic, but Sexton reverses it into a DDT for a close two count! Sexton then goes for a powerbomb attempt, but Harris back tosses out of it. Harris then goes for the Catatonic a second time, and he plants Sexton with it this time for the 1, 2, 3!
Winner: Chris Harris via Catatonic
This was actually a very good match, with a very good ending with all of the reversals, leading up to Harris finally nailing his Catatonic. Maclin then says it's time to show the taped footage that Jimmy Hart sent in.
We go to a XWF backdrop, where Hart has Konnan standing by him. Hart says he told Maclin that the XWF was going to take over, and that Konnan is going to help him do it! Konnan then cuts a promo, basically all in Spanish. Jimmy Hart then laughs like a maniac, and tells Maclin to check out this video package he put together hyping his XWF Tag Champs Shock & Awe. It shows old war footage, because Hart always calls them weapons of mass destruction, and it shows all of the people that they have beat up in the past six weeks, in what was actually a pretty good video. Back at the announce table, Maclin rings the bell for the next match.
Justice Vs. Flex
Justice is making his MW debut, and he looks a lot like the long haired WCW version of Big Show, only slightly smaller. The big man dominates Flex the whole match with various powermoves. He slings him around from corner to corner, hitting powerslams and monster clotheslines, as he receives a round of boo's from the crowd. Justice then whips Flex off the ropes and goes for a Yakuza Kick, but Flex ducks it and nails a nice dropkick, he then climbs to the top rope, and goes for a crossbody, but Justice just swats him down to the ground. The big man then practically kills Flex with a very nice looking Bossman Slam type move and gets the 1, 2, 3!
Winner: Justice via "Bossman Slam"
Maclin then says he has a major announcement! He announces that on Saturday August 2nd, Memphis Wrestling will return to the Mid-South Colisium, for a MW Vs. XWF show, with tickets going on sale July 1st. He then welcomes out Bill Dundee for an interview.
Dundee hypes the August 2nd show, saying that the Colisium is the house that Lawler and Dundee built, and goes on to say that the show will be history in the making. He then shows footage of Awe Jacknife powerbombing his former student Kevin White on last weeks show, and then welcomes out White. White comes out with a neckbrace on, selling the effect of those powerbombs, and he cuts a promo on Shock and Awe, telling them that when he's cleared in a few weeks, they will pay for what they tried to do to his career.
After break, Maclin goes to a taped message by Jerry "The King" Lawler. Lawler says that he knew it was a bad idea when he lit Moondog Scar up with that fireball a couple of weeks ago, but he didn't realize Hart had the power to suspend him, but he obviously does. He says that he is suspended for the next 2 weeks, but when he finds out who this XWF CEO is, he is going to give the CEO and Hart a royal butt kicking!!! Maclin then shows the Smash of the Week, which is Awe Jacknifing White last week. He then rings the bell for the next match.
"Superstar" Bill Dundee Vs. Reed Richardson
This is Richardsons debut on MW as well, as he comes out playing the heel. Dundee controls the match early on, mat wrestling with the rookie, locking him in a painful leglock, that Richardson almost taps out too, but he makes it to the ropes just in time. Richardson then gets in an eyerake, and he takes over for the majority of the match, knocking Dundee down with clotheslines, and dropping elbows and fists for numerous two counts. He later plants Dundee with a spinning bodyslam and climbs the top rope, signaling for the end. He goes for his Big Elbow Drop, but Dundee rolls out of the way! Richardson recovers fast and whips Dundee into the corner, but he climbs up the ropes and springboards back onto Richardson with a crossbody for the 1, 2, 3!
Winner: Bill Dundee via Top Rope Crossbody
Maclin then says he unfortunatley has another taped interview from Jimmy Hart. We go to the same XWF backdrop, and this time Hart has Buff Bagwell with him. Hart says that Bagwell is another superstar that is going to help the XWF take over MW, and Bagwell cuts a promo hyping his good looks and says that Buff "The Stuff" will be the best thing to hit Memphis in years!
The Naturals then come out for a interview with Maclin. Douglas and Stevens brag that they will be the best tag team to hit the Colisium in years, unlike some other tag teams such as the Rock 'N' Roll Express. They talk trash about the Express, saying that they don't have tans like they do, and that they never were in good shape like they are. They go on to say, that everything about them is Natural, and that they will rock the Colisium on August 2nd. This segment was obviously hinting at a Naturals Vs. Rock 'N' Roll Express match on the 2nd at the Colisium, hopefully to help elevate Stevens and Douglas.
Maclin then rings the bell for this weeks Main Event!
Mr. Compulsive Vs. "2 Sexay" Brian Christopher
Mr. Compulsive is the fourth wrestler to be making his debut today, as he comes out in a white button up shirt and black slacks. He gets in the ring with a spray bottle and feather duster, trying to clean the ring! Christopher comes out dancing with the crowd as usual, and then gets in the ring to make short work of Mr. Compulsive. He hits a Sit-Out Powerbomb, followed by a superkick and then climbs to the tope rope and puts on the goggles! He nails the Hip Hop Legdrop for the very quick 1, 2, 3!
Winner: Brian Christopher via Hip Hop Legdrop
After the match, Doug Gilbert comes out laughing, telling Maclin that Hart has managed to get Christopher suspended as well, because Hart claims the Hip Hop Legdrop is an illegal move!! Christopher then chases Gilbert off to the back. The show then comes to an end, with Maclin hyping the Aug. 2nd MW Vs. XWF show at the Mid-South Colisium.
