Brother Love replacing Rowdy Piper?, Steph/Gowen vs. Big Show on Smackdown, more

  • With the recent release of Rowdy Roddy Piper from the WWE, many wonder how that will affect Sean O'Haire since Piper was set in the mentor/manager role for him. On a recent house show though, there was scheduled to be a Piper's Pit with Vince McMahon on the show and they went ahead with the segment but used none other than Brother Love as the replacement host. There is talk that the WWE might decide to have Brother Love be Piper's replacement not only as O'Haire's mentor but could replace Piper's Pit with his old segment "The Brother Love Show" which aired for many years back in the late 80's-early 90's.

  • There was a story going around that the Stephanie McMahon/Zach Gowen vs. Big Show match with Gowen's WWE contract on the line that Vince signed at the end of Smackdown would take place at the WWE Vengeance PPV. On the PPV's offical site, there was even a mention of that match taking place at the PPV itself. However, it appears that it was just another one of WWE.com's goof-ups and the match is set to take place this week on Smackdown.

  • New Droz commentary for June 27, 2003:
Hello once again to all you avid wrestling fans. Right off the bat, I have a bone to pick. Once again this week UPN preempted SmackDown! in my area with a Phillies. This is the second time in the last couple of weeks that this has happened. This time they moved SmackDown! to Saturday at 4 p.m. I was checking out on WWE.com how the show went, and it was killing me reading about it, knowing how rabid those Madison Square Garden fans are and not being able to see it. I know those of you in Australia aren’t able to get SmackDown! anyway; I know they are trying to get it Down Under. Hopefully, they will someday soon.

  • New Bradshaw commentary for June 27, 2003:
Congratulations to the Rice Owls for winning their first national championship in school history when they won the College World Series this past week.

Also, congratulations to the San Antonio Spurs for winning their second NBA championship. I was at Game 6 to watch David Robinson play in his last game and cap off a terrific career. The new arena in San Antonio is a fantastic arena to watch sports. The old Freeman Coliseum had history, but history without air conditioning sucks.
