    Breaking The Walls Down

Hello and welcome back to another edition of Breaking The Walls Down. Wow, wrestling news is STILL at a standstill. So, as before, we’ll skip Bits and Pieces this week and move onto the column.

    There Are Some Positives

O.K., well, I’ve got to go with this. It’s been on my mind for a while now, but I didn’t want to put it into a column. Why, because every time I open my mouth on this subject, the exact opposite happens. Well, superstition aside, here we go. The WWE is doing some things that are good. Granted, there are more bad than good, unfortunately, but the good is slowly overtaking the bad (granted at a snail’s pace, but it’s still something).

One, Austin as Co-General Manager is a good thing. Austin is really superb in his efforts in this role. Yes, I want to see him back in the ring, but if this time off and possible surgery heals his body and he can return (even though he says he cannot), I will be ecstatic. However, going on Austin’s word that he has maybe one more match left him in, I have really grown to love the idea of him as Co-General Manager. He and Bischoff are doing a great job. However, this Go-GM thing will wear itself thin after a while, so hopefully the WWE leaves it to Austin.

Two, Bringing The IC-Title and The US Title back is a good thing. If you are going to run split promotions, this makes sense. Now, I understand that The US Title is about to come onto the scene again, but the IC Title has been out there now for over a month now and it is doing fine. It’s good to see these two prestigious titles back in the picture again. Good job here.

Three, which is an extension of two, the midcarders and low-level main eventers now have a title that signifies the importance of their standing, as well. Now wrestlers like Christian, Booker T, RVD, Kane, Lance Storm, Chris Benoit, Rhyno, John Cena, Billy Gunn, and others will have a title that will make them more noticeable (in terms of having more than one major single’s title, excluding the Cruiserweight Title).

Four, Chris Jericho and Lance Storm as a tag team is a good thing. Jericho and Storm are two of the greatest stars the WWE has, sadly the WWE doesn’t realize what a star they have in Storm. This man can put on a clinic for us that would absolutely make me interested in wrestling again, but that’s not the case. However, we have had a teaming of Jericho and Storm, which makes me hopeful of further tagging with these two. Yet, this doesn’t mean Chris Jericho has to stay out of the World Title picture. Jericho can still hold the World Title and the tag titles at the same time. Jericho can definitely carry those belts with pride.

Five, Bill Goldberg is starting to resemble his old WCW character. Anybody who is familiar with how Goldberg’s character was will know that this will only benefit us, the fans. As long as Goldberg’s ego is kept in check, storylines and matches should get better. Goldberg has to keep working on his wrestling moves, so he can learn new moves, but as a whole Goldberg is starting to turn around.

Six, The WWE has acquired the services of The Ultimo Dragon. Oh man, I am waiting to see him return. I can’t wait to see him in the ring. From what I’ve heard, he’s looking as good as ever. Also, rumors indicate that Dragon may face Mysterio at SummerSlam. That match itself should make fans want to purchase the PPV.

Seven, Jackie, co-winner of Tough Enough is back. And, she’s slimmed down a bit (she looked good before, but now, wow), tanned, and got a new hairstyle. She made my jaw drop when I saw her with Rico two weeks ago on RAW. I am going to say this now, watch this lady; to me she appears to be the best-looking Diva on the roster. Wow.

I listed seven good things in the WWE right now. These are pretty big things, too. Now, these are not all of the good things the WWE has going for them right now, but they are a start. And, everything must have a starting point.

Well, that will do it for this week. I hope you all have a safe and happy week. And, as always, join me as I try to “educate people on the realness of the fakeness of professional wrestling” ©.

    Later,
    Chris Dailey
