I attended the RAW brand house show from Hartford, CT tonight and it was a great show. Although the quality of RAW has decreased slightly, the quality of thise show and the enthusiasm of the Superstars was off the charts.
The show opened with "Welcome to the Jungle" playing and Howard Finkel coming out. Howard always gets a big pop in CT cause he is from here. After all of his announcements, the show started.
Match #1 - Test v. Scott Steiner -No Stacy Kiebler in the match. Test came out to loads of heat and he played off of it during the whole match. Steiner came out to a big pop. Match was much better than Bad Blood's encounter. Test dominated most of the match and then Steiner hit the Reverse DDT but Test kicked out. Match went on for another minute and then Steiner hit the Downward Spiral for the pin. Winner - Scott Steiner
Highlight Reel with Chris Jericho -Y2J comes out to mixed reaction but immediately turns to boos when he calls us "Hartford Jackasses". Jericho played to some people in the crowd. He noticed a Christian sign and then he introduced Christian as his guest. They both run down Hartford and then Booker T. Jericho says that he wants to see Christian do a Spin-A-Roony and he tells the sound guy to play some music. Booker T's music plays to a huge pop and out comes Booker T. Booker T says he was in the back listening and he said that Hartford didnt want to hear anymore. The Booker said that he has a new name for the Highlight Reel..."Two Bitches getting their asses kicked by the 5X 5X 5X 5X 5X WCW Champion" and then he beats them down for a few seconds and then its a double team.
Match #2 - Intercontinental Championship Christian v. Booker T -Match started right after the Highlight Reel and the crowd was solidly behind Booker. Good match just like at Bad Blood but again was a little short. Booker hits all of his trademarks until Jericho comes back out and distracts Booker and Christian rolls him up for the pin. Its another double team until Val Venis comes out for the save and then challenges Jericho to match later in the night. Winner - Christian
Match #3 - Rico v. Goldust -Rico comes out without Jackie Gayda and is wearing a neon green outfit. Goldust comes out to a big pop. Goldust cuts a promo on Rico asking if he was "switch-hitting" and then he does the Tourretts gimmick. It was great. It was a good back and forth match. Goldust went for Shattered Dreams but Rico pulled the ref in the way. Rico was about to nail Goldust but got powerslammed and Goldust got the victory. Winner - Goldust
Match #4 - Randy Orton v. Maven -Orton cuts a good promo about Evolution and how Maven has a lot to learn but judging from this match, so does Orton. This match was boring. The wrestling was decent but Orton did 2 holds in the match and each one lasted about 3 minutes each. Maven started to fight back but was hit with the Diamond Cutter to take the loss. Winner - Randy Orton
Match #5 - Womens Championship Jazz w/ Teddy Long, Rodney Mack and Chris Nowinsky v. Victoria w/ Steven Richards -The crowd was looking forward to this match. Teddy Long cut a promo at the start and this prompted the challenger to come out. A shove match occured and then Victoria was shoved out of the ring. A few blows back and forth and then Mack and Nowinsky came in and beat on Victoria. The match lasted 2 minutes. Winner - No Contest
-Spike Dudley ran out for the save but was pummeled until...The bombs went off and out came the Dudley Boyz to a HUGE pop. They cleaned house and challend Mack and Nowinsky to a match.
Match #6 - Dudley Boyz v. Rodney Mack and Chris Nowinsky -The crowd was behind the Dudleyz all the way. This match was a lot better than the one at Bad Blood. The chemistry was there. Bubba had an entertaining spot with Nowinsky. Chris went for a power struggle, and Bubba kept switching hands, it went faster then Bubba started dancing. Crowd loved it. "We want tables!" filled the arena and D-Von went to get one but was unable to bring it in the ring. Match ended when Nowinsky recieved a 3-D. Winners - Dudley Boyz
Intermission - Finkel announced that after the break, La Resistance will face Kane and RVD for the tag belts and this got the crowd going.
Match #7 - Tag Team Championship La Resistance v. Kane and RVD -Good match with RVD as the clear favorite. It was a lot like the Bad Blood match. Outcome was the same. RVD hit Kane by accident causing him to be pinned after their finisher. Winners - La Resistance
Match #8 - Chris Jericho v. Val Venis -Val came out and cut a promo, saying the "T3 will be a summer blockbuster, but the Big Valbowski will have an ADULT blockuster called 'Testosterone: Rise of the Big Valbowski'". Back and forth match with Val at the end about to give the Money Shot but Y2J shoved the ref into the ropes crotching Val and Jericho applies the Walls of Jericho for the submission victory. Winner - Chris Jericho
Match #9 - Lance Storm and Rosey v. Hurricane and Tommy Dreamer -Lance comes out and says "He is not Boring!" which of course cause the crowd to chant "Boring" the whole time. Hurricane and Tommy pretended to fall asleep while they were on the apron which caused a lot of laughter. Good match overall with Dreamer hitting the DDT on Rosey for the pin. Winners - Hurricane and Tommy Dreamer
Match #10 - Street Fight for the WWE World Championship Kevin Nash v. Triple H -Nash got a decent pop but HHH got a bigger pop. Match started in the aisle with Nash dominating the majority of the match. About 5 minutes in, the ref gets clobbered and Orton comes out. Nash disposes of Orton, turns around and HHH hits him with a chair for the pinfall. Orton and HHH beat down Nash until Kane makes the save. Nash powerbombs Orton and Kane chokeslams HHH to end the show. Winner - HHH
Biggest Pops:
1.) Booker T 2.) Dudley Boyz 3.) Scott Steiner 4.) RVD 5.) HHH/Kevin Nash
Biggest Heat:
1.) Test 2.) Chris Jericho/Christian 3.) Lance Storm 4.) Randy Orton 5.) La Resistance
Overall, it was great show. Arens was about 2/3 full and the crowd was hot the whole time. Cant wait until they come back.
