Stanman's Wrestling AfterThoughts - Bad Blood Predictions and Triple H

Hello and welcome to a LONG awaited edition of Stanman's Wrestling AfterThoughts.

So where have I been the past few weeks? Well, I just got a job and it has been eating me alive lately. Not that I'm complaining because it is so hard to get a job nowadays. But yeah, that, a flag football league my friends and I are running (which kicks ass by the way), along with other social happenings have been taking over my life recently. Hence, the absence.

Nonetheless, here I am and just in time for the WWE's first exclusive RAW brand pay-per-view, Bad Blood. It looks to be a decent show so let's get right to it..

The Sharpshooting Gallery: Bad Blood Predictions

First off, I would like to say that I haven't watched Smackdown in the past couple of weeks, which is quite astounding since I usually do watch the shows via tape recording. But recently, I just wasn't motivated to tape the shows for some reason. Mr. America bores me to tears. Not a good sign when that is a flagship storyline for your show.

RAW, on the other hand, is never boring as there is always something to complain about. Controversy equals ratings. On that note, let's roast some RAW wrestlers. On with the Bad Blood predictions!

The match for the women's world title will be your typical RAW women's match. Nothing new, nothing special. Except for the eye candy that is Trish Stratus, this match is unappealing to me. When it is all said and done, Jazz will pull out the victory because the WWE has no idea what to do with the title otherwise.
Stanman's pick: Jazz, to retain the women's world title.

In another slopfest, Scott Steiner will be going up against Test for the managerial services of Stacy Kiebler. Tough call here. On one hand, you have Steiner, who could use a freak to keep his gimmick fresh. But then you have Test, who needs Stacy to keep his career afloat. Without her, Test is a goner. Hmm...I'm going to have to go with the former Motley Crue bodyguard.
Stanman's pick: Test, in a bathroom break match.

In what should be an interesting match, Shawn Michaels will take on Ric Flair. This has clash of styles written all over it but seeing as both Flair and Michaels can still go at their ages, they can accommodate each other. Unless a miracle happens, which is a possibility given that it is the WWE we're talking about, HBK will win it. Flair winning does nothing for him since he won't wrestle full-time.
    Stanman's pick: Shawn Michaels

Next up it's Kane/RVD vs. La Resistance. I hate seeing a new tag team win the tag titles so soon, especially since they are not even close to being over with the fans. Unfortunately, it will happen since Kane has an intriguing situation with Stone Cold Steve Austin. I'm curious as to where that angle will go since I am still a big Kane fan. It is time that he goes on his own and accomplishes something without any stupid storylines like necrophilia holding him down. Oh yeah, and RVD is good too.
    Stanman's pick: La Resistance

Christian vs. Booker T is one I look forward to. Both are underrated in their own right, yet lack that special something to hit it big. Maybe that's the Triple H in me talking, I don't know. It's too soon for Christian to lose the belt, especially since the title was just reinstated. Maybe another day, Book.
    Stanman's pick: Christiaaaaaaaaaaan!

The match of the night will be Chris Jericho vs. Bill Goldberg. This match is the hardest to predict. I would love to see Jericho getting the win over Goldberg just because of the history these two had back in the WCW days. But then again, Goldberg is RAW's only chance to take the world title away from Triple H. *flips coin*
    Stanman's pick: Bill Goldberg

In a match that will surely disappoint us all, Triple H goes up against his buddy, Kevin Nash in Hell in a Cell. Man, talk about butchering a good-gimmicked match. Trips better win this match for the sake of the company. I can't believe I just said that. No one wants to see Nash with the belt, that's for sure. This will probably go down as one of the worst HIAC matches in WWE history. Maybe worst than Undertaker/Bossman? Who knows.
Stanman's pick: Triple H, because Nash sucks.

It looks to be a decent pay-per-view on paper. But the Triple H/Nash and Steiner/Test matches will lower the quality a notch. But let's hope I'm wrong for the company's sake. Who says Stan doesn't have a good heart?

Gathering Intelligence: Who Will Triple H Drop It To?

You know what's funny? I asked this question in what seemed like eons ago in my last column, yet the issue is still fresh.

Who In The Hell Will Triple H Drop The World Title To?

SWAT reader Foray sent this in:
I think Trips will/should lose the title to someone deserving and someone who can hold it for quite a while. Trips should lose it to someone like HBK or "Big Daddy Cool", I admit that they are both way past their prime but can still pull off a show stealing performance. At this point, I wouldn't mind Ric Flair as world champ, hell, even The King of the World needs some respect! What is the WWE thinking not making Jericho face or at least giving him a World title shot?!

"Big Daddy Cool" deserving of the world title? Say it ain’t so! I will agree that Jericho should get in the world title picture, but he should be a 'tweener, not a full-blown face. He is at his best that way. Sort of like the Rock.

SWAT reader Daniel Birklin sent this in:
The only person that I see Triple H dropping the title to in the near future is Kevin Nash or Goldberg. Dropping it to Nash would be just like dropping it to Michaels again. The title would stay within the Kliq and lead to another boring one-month hold for Nash and him dropping it to Triple H at the next pay per view. That would lead to Goldberg grabbing the title at Summerslam. It's all going to make for pretty bad television in my opinion. As Nash won't have any matches during his title reign to avoid injury for the big Triple H rematch.

Good God, I hope you're wrong.

And last but not least, SWAT reader Paul Connors sent this in:
Triple H will drop the title to Hunter Hearst Helmsley-McMahon Jr. That is assuming of course that Triple H doesn't get jealous of his son and hold him down.

Ha! I along with many other wrestling fans, are just as frustrated as you, my friend.

    This week's question is:

What do you think of the WWE's idea of exclusive brand pay-per-views? Thumbs up or thumbs down?

Send your replies to the e-mail address at the bottom of the column. Yours may be posted in my next edition. I look forward to the responses!

    Mission: Accomplished

That ends this edition of SWAT. As far as when my next column will come out, only the man upstairs knows. But don't fret, I will be back with more SWATTAGE than you can handle. So hang in there!

Until then, thanks a million for reading.
