WWE stock rising, more on Dr. Death, Vince on a houseshow, more

The WWE stock closed at $10.18 on Friday, which is the highest price the stock has been since last summer. It's rather strange for the price to go up, given that all business indicators of the WWE have gone down lately. CNBC has it rated as "Outperform".

The WWE seems more interested in Dr. Death Steve Williams as someone to help younger talent as opposed to a full time television roster wrestler. Steve Williams came into the WWF in the late 1990's, only to bust after losing a Brawl For All match against Bart Gunn. Williams has been a successful international star over the years, as well as showing some success in WCW with the Varsity Club and in other avenues. Williams did wrestle a houseshow in Bossier City, LA during last weekend and beat Lance Storm in a match.

Vince McMahon is listed as appearing on the June 29th show in Augusta, ME for a Smackdown houseshow. Vince makes extremely rare houseshow appearances, let alone actually being backstage for one. Vince is known for being at television tapings and shows only.

Tonight, the WWE makes its first appearance in Portland, OR in 10 years to the Rose Garden. The state of Oregon has had strict drug testing regulations put forth by the state athletic commission, which the WWF/WWE didn't want to comply with or be hassled about. Either they were lifted or the WWE followed the regulations, and this RAW houseshow has sold out and is the first 10,000-plus arena to sell out for a house show in a long time. There was a bill introduced in Oregon to deregulate pro wrestling restrictions through the athletic commission, so maybe that opened the door? Either way, the WWE is back in Oregon once again.
