Hello and welcome to a special edition of I Know What You Did Last Monday. During this edition I’ll be taking a look at the RAW roster and talking about it’s high points and low points, and where certain stars stand. RAW Class of 2003Class President: The class president wasn’t always the smartest person, but their knowledge for what was going on in the school always was an asset. Therefore I have no choice but to give this award to Ric Flair. While full of veterans, Flair is someone who gives back to the sport whenever asked. Even though he’s in a tired, boring story line and is nothing more than Triple H’s lacky (then again, who isn’t on the roster.) Flair has as much knowledge of the sport as anyone and everyone backstage, and has been there and done that time and time again. While he’s nothing more then another star caught in Triple H’s shadow, he’s got more to offer the wrestling business than most, both in the ring and out. Therefore out of everyone on RAW, I believe Ric Flair to be the class president of RAW 2003. Teacher’s Pet: Ah, could this be more obvious? The teacher’s pet was always someone who sucked up to the teacher and made everyone sick. They did all the little extra chores (or daughter’s) that would make the teacher’s happy. They’d be the people that everyone hated, litterally, because they ruined everything for everyone else. Sound familiar to anyone on RAW? That’s right. Lance Storm!…okay, okay, if I could be serious for a moment…Triple H has been nothing but a thorn in the back of everyone on RAW since his comeback…if you could call it that. He’s engaged to the boss’s daughter, and while he SAYS he has no backstage pull, we know that he’s definitely pulling on someone’s something backstage to get all the air-time and main event slots that he gets. I mean when your PPV match for the World Title is 7:22 in length (6 minutes of which was Nash WALKING to the ring, 1 minute of which was Triple H’s entrance and the remaining 19 seconds was ALL their offence being thrown at each other, leaving three seconds for the pin) you know there’s something wrong. Either way, the simple fact that nobody has headlined a PPV more in the past year than Triple H, even though NOBODY CARES about him gives him this award. One thing I TRULY hate are the people who say that "Triple H is doing JUST what he’s paid for! He’s the ULTIMATE HEEL! He’s hated INSIDE the ring AND out! People BELIEVE it all!"…*cough*…that’s because it’s the truth. Those who still remain fans of the Teacher’s Pet of the RAW class of 2003...may god have mercy upon your soul, and ours as well as I don’t see him reign ending anytime soon. ***NOTE: Triple H couldn‘t be reached for comment about his win because he had something in his mouth…the PPV IS coming up, so those covering up for him said he had a lot of ‘sucking up’ to do…take this how you will. Class Ass-Clown: Ah…not the funny man you’re thinking about! This would be an ode to Chris Jericho in giving an award to those in the class who are just so sad you don’t know how they’re getting time. They HAD potential to do SOMETHING, but after constant misuse, they’re just going nowhere. Steven Richards, Maven, Chris Nowinski, Batista, Rosey and Jamal all fall into this category. Why? Well we can take a quick look at them all. Steven Richards has had multiple attempts to get over, his biggest succession in that department got old fast which was the RTC. He’s GOT the talent, he just hasn’t been used right and it’ll cost him from now on. Maven and Nowinski HAD things going for them! Nowinski has the mic skills, but he’s proven that it’s NOT just talking that gets you places in this business. Maven just fell apart after his leg injury. He went from a big angle with Torri, to nothing. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Batista is looked at as a Brock wannabe, and that’ll hurt him…if he doesn’t hurt himself AGAIN first! And lastly we have 3 Minute Warning…nuff said there. They’ve all gained the award of Class Ass-Clowns in the RAW Class of 2003. Nerds: Pretty self explanatory. They aren’t popular now, but they try hard and eventually it may pay off for them down the road (Ever hear the saying, be nice to nerds now, they‘ll be your boss later?). When we look at the WWE, it could really reflect a lot of people, but let’s just take a CLOSE look at RAW, and pick a select few. Top nerd is DEFINITELY Lance Storm. This is NOT a bad thing! I’m a huge fan of Lance Storm! I think he’s great and very underutilized on the shows! He’s a talent and would be a solid heel IF the crowd just made SOME noise when he came out! WCW had something going with him when he won EVERY title…so you never know. (Then again, the day ANYONE beats Triple H for the title that ISN’T a friend or doesn’t lose it back to him by the next PPV will be the day…the day…that something is just VERY odd!) Also in the nerd category is Kane. Why? Kane doesn’t look like a nerd does he? (Well, technically we don’t know because he was horribly burned when he wasn’t humping dead people.) I put this down because while he’s over he just lacks that PUNCH to get to the next level. He HAD it (like so many others) when he went up against Triple H…until Triple H brought up the whole necrophilia angle and ruined Kane forever. Rico is another. He’s got the talent! He’s got it, they just won’t LET him have it! He’s been stuck in a bad gimmick for a while now, they CAN fix him…will they? I don’t know. Does anyone remember how he BEAT RIC FLAIR CLEANLY a couple of months ago on RAW? No? Seems the writers have forgotten as well… So it is with great honour to give Lance Storm, Kane and Rico the title of Nerds of the RAW class of 2003. ***NOTE: Lance Storm was going to speak about his win, but his speech became so boring I forgot to record it and fell asleep.*** Most likely to succeed: This is given to those who…are most likely to go places in the future! BIG places! HIGH hopes! I almost had to throw this award out because as long as Triple H is around, nobody is likely to succeed, but I thought what the hell… I have no doubt in my mind as to who has the best chance to succeed on RAW, and it is none other than Chris Jericho. He’s the MAN on that show, and there’s nobody that can deny it. He’s fresh, and he’s got skill! He’s WASTED on RAW when he could be putting on EPIC matches on Smackdown with Benoit, Angle and Brock for the World Title…forget this crap on RAW, GET JERICHO ON SMACKDOWN! More on Jericho later, but for now, Jericho is definitely the winner of the Most Likely to Succeed award for the RAW Class of 2003. Best chance to move up in the world: This award would go to the person, who like the person who will most succeed, has a chance to move up at the moment. Right now, the best would be Christian. With the IC title win and the belt returning, you’d see big things for him right!? Feud with Goldberg, new belt…CLEAN LOSS TO GOLDUST?! Excuse me for a moment, I’m confused as to HOW Goldust gets to beat the IC CHAMPION cleanly when Goldust does NOTHING for the shows anymore? Ah wait, this is the WWE, but either way, hopefully Christian will put up with this for a while and give the belt SOME credibility, even if the WWE doesn’t give him any. So Christian, you receive the Best Chance to move up in the world award for the RAW Class of 2003. Most Likely to be Forgotten: Bradshaw…for those of you who are scratching your heads right now, I rest my case. Most likely to fail miserably at any and all future endeavours: This would be a rather mean award to give to anyone in a REAL school…and TECHNICALLY if you look at the RAW roster and put this award to the main event, everyone would win because NOBODY will get past Triple H for a while…SO we’ll just take the person who’ll fail period. Kevin Nash. I believe the fact that he almost can’t make it down to the ring is enough to win him this award, but just for shits and giggles we’ll also throw the fact that he has no charisma, no mic skills and no in ring ability whatsoever…and of course there’s the always funny fact that when he DOES do a run in (when it comes to Nash, that statement couldn’t be more off) those who are waiting for him to get to the ring have to wait until his slow ass WALKS down the ramp, steps ONTO the side and OVER the top rope…no no, there’s no quick slide into the ring after rushing the ring…it’s ALL walking baby…slow motion, only in real-time. So with THAT, Kevin Nash is the UNDISPUTED winner of the Most likely to fail miserably at any and all future endeavours award for the RAW Class of 2003. ***NOTE: Kevin Nash agreed to an interview at 3:30 p.m…so I waited at the room at the end of the 50 feet in length hall for him. He showed up early, starting to WALK at the other end of the hall at 3:00pm, but didn’t arrive at the other end until 7pm…at which time I had another appointment and had to leave. Greatest Talent: This is just the best overall talent that a class would have. In writing, speeches, sports…the works! The one with it all! On RAW, that’s once again Chris Jericho. Jericho wins simply because he’s the best thing RAW doesn’t know it has. Well, Triple H knows it which is why he buries Jericho every chance he gets. Just think, if the Evolution had taken off while Jericho was stuck in there, he would have been the fall guy each time, I guarantee. Smackdown, AND the WWE and ESPECIALLY the fans would greatly benefit if Jericho went BACK to Smackdown! Then again, they want to attract people to RAW with big name talent…with the way they use him, they could have fooled me. Anyway, with that, Chris Jericho wins the Greatest Talent award for the RAW Class of 2003. Most overlooked: This is the person in school who you didn’t get to know. You saw them around, but they were always just not paid attention too. Maybe if they were picked first in dodge ball you would have WON a game or two…you just didn’t KNOW they had it in them. I’d have to say that Lance Storm is a winner of this award, along with The Hurricane. These two just give wrestling their all, and while Lance is aiming to retire by the time he’s 40, he SHOULD still get his day in the sun…but Hurricane has a great gimmick with a chance to REALLY shine (that Triple H had to stomp on really quick) in the future. So it is with great honour that Lance Storm and The Hurricane receive the award for Most Overlooked in the RAW Class of 2003. Most Over-rated: Now, this would be those people who everyone loved in school…even though they REALLY weren’t that cool when you looked at them. On the RAW roster I’m leaning towards a few popular people that may get me some mail that regards otherwise, but hear me out. Most over-rated are those who are THOUGHT to be incredibly amazing, when really they’re not THAT stand-out great. First on the list is Booker T. I’ve NEVER seen the big deal with this guy…it was KIND of cool when he did the whole "SUCKAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" thing last year or a few months ago when teaming with Goldust, but since then he’s just gone down, and before then I never really saw why he should go up! Really, he’s pretty good backstage, but in the ring he’s not something special and not someone who puts on 5-star matches. Speaking of 5-star…another person I think is over-rated is RVD. Now here me out. He IS a good wrestler when it comes to spots! He’s a spot-machine! He’s had solid matches, and I’m sure he had some ‘crazy’ ones in ECW…but this isn’t ECW, this is the WWE, and this is the year 2003. Right now he’s over-rated. Sure he gets pops, and people cheer him. I’m saying he’s over-rated as a TALENT. I have a friend who says he should be in the main event, or holding the World Title. No thanks. Give me Jericho or Christian over RVD please. RVD can’t talk that great, and he’s pretty boring when held back to WWE standards for his in-ring matches…so there you go. Also right up there is Goldberg. I mean come ON! Too many big guys are being used as ‘threats’ and just destroying the smaller future of the sport on their way to the top. To me, Goldberg is boring. He’s never been good, and he doesn’t know how to wrestle. He became popular, and they pushed that. Other than his cheers and spears, he knows nothing. He ended Bret Harts career, which is sad, and doesn’t aim to ever improve his skills…WAY over-rated. Not worth the money, and the WWE is barely using him which shows that. Lastly I stick with The Dudley Boys. Stop and think about it. I mean I‘ve never thought they were a great team, but they‘ve been hyped up huge because they were in the TLC matches and used tables. Without the tables what are they? They‘re boring even WITH them! They‘re repetitive, they have NO direction (which goes for most of RAW, but seriously, who gets hired, fired, hired, fired, suspended, reinstated, blackmailed, freed, suspended, and reinstated ALL in 4 weeks?!) *Yawn* So it is with this that I give Booker T, RVD, Goldberg and the Dudley Boys the Most Over-rated awards for the RAW class of 2003. Most Popular: Now I know I’ve left off a number of superstars (Test, Steiner, Michaels, Austin, etc) but the ones named above are the main ones used or known, and besides, the other half of the roster is the women’s division and they’re in a league of their own. So finally I have to give out the most popular award, and after looking at the names I’ve come up with this. The Rock. Nobody can do what he does. NOBODY. Is he the best wrestler of all time? No, but he’s one of the greatest of all time non the less. Love him or hate him, you have to respect him. He sells out all over, and he’s fought and beaten the best. He even pulled a big Wrestle Mania match out of Hulk Hogan last year! He went heel and the crowd ATE OUT OF HIS HANDS! He was loved more as an arrogant heel then he was as a face! He’s a classic character and he’s done it right from the bottom himself…thus, Rocky is without a SHADOW OF A DOUBT, the most electrifying, popular wrestler in the RAW Class of 2003. Well, there you have it! I’m not expecting anyone and everyone to agree, but these are my opinions! I’ll be back on Saturday with my SMACKDOWN Class of 2003, so until then, send me your thoughts and feedback about the RAW class of 2003 below.
