DARK MATCHES
Ultimo Dragon defeated Crash via submission. Ultimo Dragon
looked pretty sharp and true to form. He defeated Crash with a reverse toe hold into a reverse side headlock bridge into a STF that made Crash tap out like a beaten drum.
Tag Match
Kanyon and a jobber vs. David Flair and a jobber
PLEASE forgive me for not remembering the respective
tag partners for Kanyon and David Flair. Anyway, Kanyon's team won by pinfall when Kanyon defeated David Flair's tag team partner with Kanyon's finishing move, The Flatliner; a modified reverse facebuster.
Josh Matthews came down to ringside; soon followed by Ernest "The Cat" Miller as they took their positions at the Velocity/SmackDown! announcers' table as the show Velocity came on the air; preceded by loud explosions and pyro.
Jamie Noble (without Nidia, hard to believe!) took on jobber Orlando Jordan. Jamie had the upper hand attacking Jordan's right leg with kicks, drop kicks, spinning toe holds as well as Nolbe attempting to put Jordan in his
finishing submission hold, The Trailer Hitch. However, the newcomer Jordan showed resiliency overcoming pain to his right leg against Noble trying desperately to fight back. Noble seemed to have the upper hand on his less than experienced opponent; thinking that this match would be a cakewalk. However, this was not the case. Noble missed a clothesline and Jordan surprised Noble with a powerslam scorign an upset victory.
The next match had Bill DeMott taking on Matt Hardy's number one MFer Shannon Moore, accompanied by Crash. The match pretty much went back and forth despite Crash's feeble attempts to interfere in the match. One time he came in holding up the recent Hardy Boyz' book as DeMott tried to charge Moore while Moore was dangling and staggering in one corner of the ring. However, the attempts by Moore to get an underhanded victory was to no avail as DeMott finished Moore off with a devastating finishing move that a wrestler named Vegas (not to be confused with the Kevin Nash character, Vinnie Vegas in the early 1990s of WCW) used in WCW ("Roll Of The Dice") as well as Test about a year ago ("The Test Drive"), a reverse spinning Diamond Cutter to score a 1-2-3 victory.
John Cena came to the ring to share a little Thugonomics with the Pensacola crowd. To me, he was very hilarious, especially when he rapped about Josh not kissing a girl or something of that nature. Anyway, Cena was off the chain!
The last match featured Cruiserweight Champion, Matt Hardy, Version 1 in a non-title match against Funaki; self-proclaimed SmackDown number one announcer. Lately, Hardy has been feeling the heat of his upcoming challenge for his title against Rey Mysterio. Therefore, the Cruiserweight Champ decied to put a little Mattitide on Funaki with swinging neckbreakers
and other devastating side maeuvers. Funaki fought back and tried to score and upset of sorts against Version 1; however, it wasn't to be. Matt Hardy did one Twist of Fate; then decided to do another and connected. He was tempted to do a 3rd Twist of Fate, but by that time, Funaki was nothing but roadkill and Matt covered Funaki hooked his leg for the 1-2-3.
