Just opened up the Baton Rouge thread to see how it compared to the New Orleans house show, a lot of it was the same.
We start off with a 6man tag match. Goldust, Venus, and someone who I couldn’t really hear the name of (the in-house speaker system was horrible, you could hardly hear anything) I believe it was something Cane or Pain? Those 3 took on Lance Storm, Stevie Richards, and I believe Jindrak. Decent back and forth match, highlight is Goldust standing over Richards doing the wiggle motion to signal Val for the Money Shot. Val wins by pinning Richards, afterwards Lance tries to retrieve the fallen teammate but Richards signals them to leave him be. Goldust and Val have some more fun with Richards and leave. This cue’s Victoria’s theme.
Victoria comes out for a womans match and Richards composes himself enough to be in her corner. Molly enters next followed by Teddy Long. Long grabs the mic from Fink and says he’ll show him how it’s done. He announces Jazz, after that Trish enters. 4 way woman’s title match. Teddy Long gets ejected from ringside first, then Molly is eliminated. Jazz goes down and Trish takes out Victoria. Trish and Jazz go at it briefly but Jazz hits the submission and Trish makes it to the ropes. Victoria is distracting the ref though so Jazz gets her back to the middle of the ring and makes Trish submit. After the match Richards and Victoria attack Trish but of course mess up and both wind up getting knocked out the ring by Trish. Everyone leaves.
Then we are treated to Rodney Mack. Once again Teddy Long takes Finks mic and belittles the Fink. He complains that “The Man” is holding Mack down forcing him into a tag match tonight. Spike and Maven come out, soon after that Nowinski comes out as well. Nowinski wants to be the Macks partner because he backs the mack and is fo shizzle. Teddy says he’s surrounded by white (which included maven oddly, Maven is blacker than Mack) eventually Teddy allows Chris to be the partner. Rather boring match, Mack eventually makes Spike submit.
Next comes the wonderful Highlight reel. Jericho comes out and has a good ole time playing to the crowd. He reads off some of the peoples signs and eventually invites out Stacey. Jericho has her enter the ring, then exit the ring a few times, then tells the crowd not to say he never did anything for us. Jericho mentions he’s noticed all the girls in the back looking at him when we walks by, and smiling at him. He knows the girls want him. Stacey admits they do look and smile, but that’s because they’ve heard that he’s got the smallest “wee wee” in the WWE. Jericho is irate and attacks Stacey. Test makes the save to some crickets chirping, but as he goes to get Stacey she shoves him away and storms out.
Next we get 3MW to the ring. A few more crickets show up as the chirps get louder. That’s soon fixed as the Dudleys come out to a massive pop. They play out to the crowd for a while and get some ECW chants. They then say that since the crowd is so good and they want wood, this should be a table match.
Match is incredibly slow, only picks up when the Dudley’s do their trademarks. Funny moment happens when Jamal yells “Rosie, get the table” and someone in the crowd yells “Rosie, get my sandwich!”. I think it was Rosie that attempted a nice looking moonsault off the bottom rope, measured a 3.4 on the Richter scale when he missed. Eventually the Dudleys win by 3d’ing I think Jamal thru the table (I get those 2 mixed up). They then take a kid into the ring and give him a piece of the table and take a pic with him.
Intermission
Coming back we get Christian vs Hurricane for the IC title. Hurricane has a new outfit, it’s a lot more neon green, and his cape is shiny now. Nice moment happens when Christian is running at Hurricane and Hurricane strikes his pose. Christian fly’s back like he was just hit by lightning. Eventually Christian win’s by holding the ropes during a pin and sneaks out with his belt.
Next it’s Rico vs Steiner. Very slow match with Rico doing all the flashy stuff, really outshining the “Freak”. Rico hits a sweet Matrix looking move when he has Steiner in the corner. He plants one foot on the bottom rope, launches himself in the air and nails Steiner to the head with his other foot. Looked awesome. Eventually Steiner wins. He gets on the mic and is so winded you can hardly hear anything he’s saying. Sounds like he was bragging about New Orleans, no idea though, he could barely speak. The only part that I could make out was the hook up and holler parts.
Next comes La Resistance. They babble about we’re supposed to be French down here, then RVD’s music hits and the place explodes. He comes out and plays to the crowd for a bit till Kane’s music hits to a nice pop as well. Decent match, nothing special. Ends with a choke slam followed by a 5 star. Really sucks them not having pyro or trons (and this added to the horrid in house speakers, damn).
Finally it’s the main event. HHH comes out first, does his water deal and then here’s Nash. Lots of boots, punches, and knees in the corner from Nash. Eventually I think Nash knocks down Earl. This prompts Flair to come out and help HHH, another ref comes out but Nash kicks out. HHH attacks the other ref (Patrick I believe). Nash eventually gains the upper hand and wins the belt. Earl comes to and stops the celebration, he says he was the official ref and he’s reversing the decision. The winner by DQ and STILL champion, HHH.
End of show.
