MLW Backstage Report by Andy Vineberg

Welcome back to the Backstage Report! It was great meeting you all in Orlando last Friday and I am so glad you all love the report and enjoyed getting your feedback.

Now to the show... It was a top-notch performance for MLW without question. Here were some of my personal highlights, first let me say I have had the opportunity to work with some of the most talented wrestlers this business has to offer – I must recognize one individual who I met for the first time last week and impressed the hell out of me that being Paul London. This kid is no doubt the future of this business as he has “it”. He has the skills, the look, the talent, etc. to become an impact player here in MLW. London and Jerry Lynn put on a wrestling clinic in the opener and I was extremely impressed to say the least. Their match was a 5 star performance and I can’t wait until they meet again.

There were so many highlights to the event and I’m sure you’ll see them all on the weeks to come on the Underground. Raven vs. CM was superb and lived up to its expectations, as did Mike Awesome vs. Zero-One's Masato Tanaka in a brawl that was intense and extreme to say the least. All the guys were are so thrilled to be a part of the company and are willing to do what it takes to make it succeed. The staff we have from the talent, production, event managers, etc have all been in other wrestling companies before and know what it takes to achieve success and also are aware of obstacles that may lie ahead and what we have to do to avoid them. Prior to the big MLW show, MLW owner and matchmaker Court Bauer held a rally meeting with the entire locker room, crew, and management discussing the direction of the company and how important the show was. The boys and crew came through hitting another grandslam. Thanks to everyone who made the show what it was: top notch!

I want to send out props to my pals Sam Anoa'i, Nick Ruotolo, Tom Borho, Sean Hummel, and Dan Kowal for your hard work and dedication in making the event a great one. We make a superb team!!!

June 20th has tickets available starting at just $10.00. There is no show out there that will deliver such bang for your buck. $15.00 reserved tickets are also available. Ringside tickets are sold out. This event will bring you the first major barbed wire match in the US in several years. You can say what you will about the wrestling business but I must tell you it is no work as to just how much Terry Funk hates Steve Corino. I kid you not and this match will entail two men beating the living hell out of each other as blood will flow and hatred will consume these men old school hardcore style. I can’t wait! Order your tickets to Hybrid Hell: the next Underground TV taping now: http://www.ticketmaster.com/artist/866232.

MLW had several members of the media present for its May 9th event, including Pro Wrestling Illustrated/London Publishing, Gong Magazine, Baseball Sha, Americana Wrestling, Weekly Fights, Toyko Sports, Luchas 2000, and more. MLW is becoming the "can't miss experience" for wrestling enthusiasts.

The MLW World Heavyweight Title will be defended by reigning champion Satoshi Kojima when he goes to bat against Mike Awesome. After a three year cold spell with championships, can the giant "Gladiator" Awesome Bomb his way to victory in Fort Lauderdale?

Vampiro and MLW have taken a hiatus from one another. Vampiro is addressing personal issues and we all wish Vampiro the best of luck and perhaps he will return to MLW one day soon.

"Hawaiian Hellraiser" Taiyo Kea is eyeing a fourth quarter '03 return to MLW action.

MLW was overwhelmed by the demand for MLW T-shirts at the May 9th event, selling out all MLW logo t-shirts two hours into the show. Thanks fans for supporting the new game in town!

It was great to see the beautiful and talented Francine debut in MLW with Michael Shane. Francine has a history of taking men to new levels and winning championships for her boys. Shane made a very smart move on his part by hiring this queen and the two of them will surely be major players here in MLW.

It looks like this coming week will be a long and fun one for talent coming in to the studio for image scanning for multimedia and television. MLW is constantly working on improving our production efforts.

Bill Alfonso is no longer with MLW. Fonzie, you are a great guy and a great friend. We here at MLW wish you nothing but the best as you are truly one of the friendliest guys to ever work in this business.

Next week – we’ll discuss the future of PJ Friedman and more about the upcoming Fort Lauderdale show in June. Have a great week!!!

Till next time- that’s all from backstage,
