The following are highlights from an interview with "Macho Man" Randy Savage on WrestleZone Radio. You can listen to the interview in both streaming Real Media and/or Windows Media Audio format by going to www.WrestleZoneRadio.com.
Macho Man talked quite a bit about his new website, www.MachoMan.com. Basically, Savage says it's going to be an online wrestling promotion. He said Triple H told him to "get with the times" or "quit living in the past" and feels this is something everyone will be doing in the future. His plan is to hold matches in an empty arena and broadcast them on the internet as opposed to television. He'll have titles and promos and everything. He's actually going to be returning to the ring for this thing, and has his first promo up now over at MachoMan.com.
Savage talked a lot about his hatred for Hulk Hogan. He says Hogan feels he ruined Savage's career, but Savage said he has absolutely no complaints with the career he's had so that's not possible. When asked how all the heat started, he said it was just a culmination of a lot of business disagreements. He mentioned how he challenged him to a match to benefit a charity in St. Petersburgh, but Hogan backed out because "he has something against helping sick kids". Savage had a lot to say about the Hogan/McMahon match leading into WrestleMania as well.
Randy Savage talked about possibly returning to one of the two American promotions with national TV coverage. He said he'd love to be in WWE to do something similar to what Hogan is doing now, although he wouldn't grovel before McMahon like he feels both Hogan and Flair have been doing. He said he thinks there's a good chance he'll head up to work with the Jarrett's and NWA-TNA at some point, hinting at hopeful cross-promotion for his new company.
Savage talked about a ton of other subjects including coming out with a rap CD, his legit fights and heat with Road Warrior Hawk, the big injury to Charles Robinson, his favorite WrestleMania moment, his work in Spiderman and upcoming Tarzan II movies, his status with Elizabeth and Gorgeous George, how he came up with his "Woo Yeah" catch phrase, managing Brian Adams in boxing, his workout and diet regimine and how it's changed, what he felt of WWE mocking him when he first left to WCW, what he thought of McMahon buying WCW, backstage atmosphere in WCW, the infamous snake-bite angle with Jake Roberts in WWE and why it was completely real, how he came up with his crazy ring attire, his baseball career, why he didn't work the WWA PPV last year, if he'll write his own book, how his brother Leapin' Lanny Poffo aka The Genius is doing, a world record his father owns and why he'll never be able to break it, plus a lot more in a very entertaining 40 minute interview!
