Despite what we wrote last week, The Rock never asked to get out of his match with Booker T on RAW. The storyline we saw play out on the show was planned the day they announced Rock vs. Booker T as the headline of the following week's RAW.
Apparently, WWE felt obligated to hook the fans with a big match main-event since it was the return of "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, which everyone knew was going to draw a good rating.
The Rock vs. Hurricane match was in mind all along as the main-event of the following week's RAW, but was announced as Rock vs. Booker T as WWE was under the impression, and rightfully so, that Rock vs. Hurricane wouldn't give people a big reason to tune in the next week.
