Rock at the Oscars, WWE 3rd Degree, wrestler found dead

  • This past Sunday, the 75th Annual Academy Awards were held and Chicago Sun-Times movie critic, Richard Roeper was on hand and wrote a small piece about his experience in meeting WWE superstar, The Rock. Roeper met The Rock at an after-party and noted that The Rock has a soft handshake, joking that maybe he broke a few hands before and now takes it easy.

  • WWE 3rd Degree, a special which was meant to help hype up WrestleMania also aired on Sunday. It went up against stiff competition with the Oscars and scored a dismal 0.7 rating. Advertising for the show had announced that Vince McMahon would be in attendance and that fans would be allowed to ask questions to the superstars. Neither of that happened though as McMahon wasn't there and fans didn't get the chance to ask questions. Michael Cole and Tazz simply had interviews with Triple H, Steve Austin and Hulk Hogan in front of a live crowd at The World, in New York. All three stayed in character for the most part and cut promos hyping up their matches for WrestleMania.

  • An independent wrestler from the Pacific Northwest area, "Bruiser" Brian Cox was found dead in his apartment on the 24th. No cause has been determined.

  • As reported earlier, The Rock's new movie, which was previously titled "Helldorado" has now been changed to "Welcome to the Jungle." Apparently, the title has something to do with the Guns 'N Roses song of the same name, although I'm not sure what that something is. The Rock is rumored to be heading back to Hollywood sometime in May to start filming on the remake of "Walking Tall." The Rock will also be starring in a true story movie about a legendary Hawaiian king named King Kamehameha. No word on when production for that movie starts. There have also been rumors of a sequel to The Scorpion King, but that is totally unconfirmed at this point and wouldn't make much sense anyway considering the fate of the Scorpion King is played out in The Mummy Returns. The Rock continues to tell people that he will balance wrestling and acting for as long as he can.
