- Thanks to Jason Barrett for sending in the following:
On Monday, March 3, Linda McMahon, Chief Executive Officer of World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. (WWE), will be "Professor for a Day" at Nassau Community College. She will lecture a group of 500 Sports Marketing majors at the College Center Building at 12:30 p.m. ET. Linda will speak to NCC students about the marketing and promotional strategies that have led to the long-term entrepreneurial success of WWE.
Joining Linda as "Assistant Professors" on March 3 will be WWE Superstars Ric Flair, Trish Stratus, Maven, D-Von Dudley, and former Long Island native Bubba Ray Dudley. They will provide an individual perspective and insight into WWE and the unique world of sports entertainment. A question and answer session will follow the formal lecture.
Before the lecture, at 11:45 a.m., the WWE Superstars will host a Smackdown Your Vote! rally in the lobby of the College Center to register students to vote. The rally is co-sponsored by WWE and Youth Vote Coalition member NYPIRG. Smackdown Your Vote! recently announced its new A Million More in 2004 initiative with the objective of getting one million more 18-to-30-year-olds to cast their votes in the 2004 Presidential election than did in the Presidential election of 2000. The program's other goals include: enlisting young people to become poll workers, obtaining a presidential debate focused on issues affecting young voters in 2004; and getting candidates to speak forthrightly to young people on the issues.
Nassau Community College, located at One Education Drive, Garden City, NY, is the third largest single campus community college in the United States with more than 22,000 students, and the largest undergraduate State University in New York State. The "Professor for a Day" series at Nassau Community College was instituted in 1980 by Professor Jack Mandel of the NCC Marketing Department. The program presents an opportunity for prominent business leaders to share their experience and expertise with NCC students.
- Hulk Hogan (who is currently wrestling without a contract – he is expected to sign a 1 year deal very soon) is experiencing severe pain in his lower back. This pain is expected to keep him off of all non-televised WWE events (house shows).
