WrestleZone Radio 2/27: Guests - Bas Rutten, Ryan Bennett!

The February 27th edition of WrestleZone Radio with Matt Boone and John Hartnett is now online.

Matt and John start off talking about some show-related topics such as upcoming guests. Jerry Lynn will be on later tonight, Ken Shamrock this Friday, Sean Waltman this Monday, Ted DiBiase next Wednesday, and Chuck Liddell next Friday.

From there, Matt and John started off today's mixed-martial arts dedicated edition of WrestleZone Radio by running down some of the latest news from around the world. Topics discussed included Tank Abbott's appearance on "The Best Damn Sports Show Period," Felix "Tito" Trinidad working spanish announcing at UFC 41, Ken Shamrock working the American announcing at UFC 41, rumors of Ryan Bennett and Jeff Osbourne being released from UFC to make room for Joe Rogan, Ken Shamrock on "FOX & Friends," possibility of Murilo Bustamante continuing to work with UFC, MMA discussed on ESPN's "Around the Horn," controversy over Tito Ortiz "ducking" a fight with Chuck Liddell, and the poll results from MMANews.com regarding the best fight-team in mixed-martial arts.

After that Matt and John dug into the WrestleZone Radio mailbag which featured such discussions and debates as what would happen if Tito Ortiz in his prime fought Frank Shamrock in his prime, as well as who would win a rematch between Tito Ortiz and Vanderlei Silva. Also, discussion about how a Bob Sapp vs. Tank Abbott fight would play out, how Phil Baroni would do as a pro wrestler, how Mike Tyson would do in MMA, if Ken Shamrock is overrated, who is pound for pound the best fighter in the world currently, and whether boxing, pro wrestling, or MMA requires better conditioning.

Then it was time for former UFC broadcaster Ryan Bennett (MMAWeekly.com) and legendary fighter Bas Rutten (BasRutten.net) to join the program for the UFC 41 roundtable discussion. Matt, John, Ryan, and Bas talked very in-depth about each fight on the card including Ricco Rodriguez vs. Tim Sylvia, Tank Abbott vs. Frank Mir, Phil Baroni vs. Matt Lindland, B.J. Penn vs. Caol Uno, Matt Serra vs. Din Thomas, Pedro Rizzo vs. Vladimir Matyushenko, Yves Edwards vs. Rich Clementi, and Alexandre Dantes vs. Gan McGee. A lot of good debates and discussion came out of the UFC 41 roundtable, definitely worth a listen.

We had some time left so Ryan Bennett and Bas Rutten agreed to stay on the show for PRIDE 25 roundtable. All four discussed each match scheduled for the March 16th pay-per view including Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Emelianenko Fedor, Quinton Jackson vs. Kevin Randleman, Carlos Newton vs. Anderson Silva, Dan Henderson vs. Shungo Oyama, Kazushi Sakuraba vs. Antonio Schembri, Alex Steibling vs. Akira Shoki, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira vs. Kazuhiro Nakamura, and Kenichi Yamamoto vs. Alexander Otsuka.
