Triple H/RAW, Hogan/Smackdown, WWE 3rd quarter results, and more

Triple H was indeed at RAW last night, but he was not written into the show. He wasn't on the show because the 'line of thinking' was to have the show mainly focus on the Rock's return to RAW and to give Rocky the full spotlight.

Victoria plans on avoiding surgery on her torn ACL in her right knee, as she'll just continue wearing a brace and strengthen the muscles around her knee instead.

With the reported or rumored War against Iraq starting sometime in March, ESPN.com had an article on how Viacom might shift the NCAA tournament games over to their cable stations (Mtv, TNN, Vh1, etc.), while CBS could be having non-stop war coverage every evening. What could this mean? Shows like Mtv Heat, Velocity, and Confidential would be bumped in favor of the NCAA tournament games. Note, however, that NCAA games are only played Thursday through Sunday, meaning Monday Night RAW wouldn't be affected. (Note from Tito: I believe Smackdown is safe, given that CBS probably can't shift programming over to another regular network upon FCC regulations).

WWE's 3rd Quarter numbers were released today... The WWE showed a $26.7 Million loss, as compared to last year's $8.5 Million surplus in income. The loss also included a charge of $32.9 Million in association with the World, the WWE nightclub/restaurant located in Times Square.

WWE announced that the restaurant will close, effective immediately, while the retail portion of the place will be open until April 27, 2003 (can you say 'WWE merchandise on clearance'?)

Overall, the WWE experienced a net loss in the 3rd Quarter of $16 million, compared with a profit in the same quarter last year of $9.4 million. The WWE has experienced a problem of weak attendance problems, lower buyrates, and a lower stock value as of late, along with high expenses in certain sectors (i.e. the World).

Hulk Hogan will NOT be on Smackdown this week. The advertisements throughout the area of London, Ontario have been changed throughout the day, as before, they were advertising as though Hogan was on the show. Why Hogan won't be on Smackdown is unknown at this point, and the people of London, Ontario are obviously disappointed.
