XPW Results from Merry F'N Xmas on 12/21/02 at Viking Hall in Philadelphia, PA Report by Phil S. (likeitis@hotmail.com)
While other companies have been talking trash and fighting their wars on internet message boards, and while so called "reporters" have been airing inaccurate and biased information toward XPW, XPW has sat back, been quiet, and let their wrestling do all of their talking. At Hostile Takeover and Fallout, their talking was pretty darn good. At Exit Sandman, they shouldn't even have opened their mouths. But last night, at Merry F'N Xmas, XPW showed Philly how it should be done! No prejudiced journalism, no internet flame wars, just great wrestling and action from top to bottom! This report will not be as in depth as my TV reports. But most of these matches will air on TV, so I will get more in depth then.
Segment #1- J-Love (Valentina) came out to sing America The Beautiful! Or as Kris Kloss would probably say ... J-Love The Beautiful!! She was looking good and she knew it as she waved to the crowd like she was a well known star! The crowd changed "who are you" at her and she calmly said "I am J-Love" and continued waving. She began singing when all of a sudden, Julio Dinero popped out of one of the many Christmas presents set up around a Christmas tree in the walkway!! He began bumping and grinding J-Love and took off his tights until he was down to a thong! J-Love ran for cover to the back! Chris Candido followed to the ring. As Dinero was going on about being the sexiest in XPW, Candido climbed into the ring! Candido asked Julio "so this is what it's come to?". Candido told Julio he is a good talent and doesn't need to resort to the "entertainment"! Julio said everyone knows he is the sexiest in XPW and slapped Candido which led to a brawl where the two fought in and out of the ring.
Segment #2- Chris Hamrick vs. Shark Boy. This was a very good match that the crowd was totally into. About half way into it Tracy Smothers came out to help Hamrick. Shark Boy hit the Diamond Dust for what appeared to be the win, but Smothers distracted referee Mike Kehner! Hamrick then recovered. He and Shark Boy made it up the ropes again where Hamrick then recovered and hit a vicious looking piledriver from the second rope for the victory!
Segment #3- XPW TV Champion Kaos (with Veronica Caine and G.Q. Money) vs. Danny Doring with a special referee! The referee was announced as "The Godfather of Referees Bill Alfonso!!" .... Alfonso came out to a great ovation and called it "right down the middle". Late in the match, Veronica Caine tried to interfere only to be superkicked by Alfonso. While this was happening, G.Q. Money came in with brass knuckles and helped Kaos knock out Doring. Alfonso turned around and made the 3 count. However, he then noticed the brass knuckles and DQ's Kaos, awarding the match, but not the title, to Doring. Kaos grabbed the brass knuckles back and KO'd Alfonso.
Segment #4- Jerry Lynn vs. Joey Matthews vs. Jonny Storm vs. Zebra Kid in a Four Corners Elimination Match for a title shot against Kaos on 1/17/03 at New Years' Revolution! As you would expect, another great match with a lot of good stuff. Just a quick summary as words can't describe this match .... Storm hit a moonsault from one of the balconies to the floor. Storm pinned Zebra making him the first man eliminated. Lynn pinned Mathhews after a Cradle Piledriver. The finish came when Lynn went for a Cradle Piledriver on Storm, but Storm got out of it and hit an X-Factor and fell on to Lynn. Both men's shoulders were down and John Finnegan made the 3 count and declared it a double pinfall.
Segment #5- XPW King of the Deathmatch Champion Altar Boy Luke vs. Supreme in a House of Horrors Match. Various weapons are suspended from the top of the arena, including a table with salt, metal chairs, a mailbox. Ringside there are various weapons including a bed of mousetraps! Luke was busted open by Supreme, the medic bandaged him up and the match continued. Supreme took a back bump on mousetraps. Luke spread thumbtacks on the canvas and laid Supreme out onto the thumbtacks. Supreme gets bandaged up by the medic, match continues. Luke pours salt into Supreme's wound on his head. Supreme stumbles behind the mailbox that is dangling as Luke grabs a chain that is hanging and climbs up to the opposite turnbuckle. He then swings on the chains from one turnbuckle to the next and kicks the mailbox into Supreme's face! After Supreme recovered, he and Luke fight their way up the turnbuckles near the suspended table. Supreme gains control and powerbombs Luke through it onto thumbtacks. Supreme crucified Luke with two of the dangling chains and nailed him three chair shots. Medic stops the match, Supreme wins and becomes the NEW King of the Deathmatch Champion! After the match, the lights go out. When they turn back on, Devon Storm is standing over Luke. He helps Luke up and carries him to the back.
Segment #6- Tracy Smothers vs. Angel. Tracy Smothers came out ripping on the locker room and said that Shane Douglas is taking XPW to new places in 2003 and he was ready to rock! Angel came out to defend XPW and their locker room, which led to this match! During the match, Shark Boy attempted to come out and help Angel, but Atlas Security met him and took him to the back. While Atlas was distracted, Chris Hamrick came out to help Smothers. Smothers ended up getting the win over Angel with Hamrick's help. Shark Boy then comes out with a chair this time and clears house. It appears as though two new tag teams have formed in XPW ... Hamrick and Smothers as well as Shark Boy and Angel
Segment #7- XPW Tag Team Champions Mexico's Most Wanted (Damien 666 & Halloween) vs. Mystery Tag Team. MMW are in the ring. The lights go down, and Eminem's "Lose Yourself" plays. Two men in silver hockey masks come out! Once in the ring they unmask to be Youthanazia (Josh & Matt aka Josh Prohibition and M-Dogg 20)! Josh and Matt are a great addition to the XPW roster! MMW put on another stellar performance for the fourth show in a row. Youthanazia were very impressive in their debut as well. Another match that I hope they show on TV because I am not going into too much depth and this match really needs to be seen. Finish came when MMW went for their finisher where Josh got the dropkick to the head as he was being swung by his feet. Matt climbed to the top and hit a leg drop to break up the pinfall. Josh recovered and hit a T-Bone Suplex as Matt went to the top again. Matt then hit a beautiful Shooting Star Press and got the pinfall. Winners and new tag team champions .... Youthanazia!!!!
Segment #8- Psicosis vs. Chris Chetti. During this match, Super Crazy came out again. This time, Psicosis was prepared and fought him off and ended up defeating Chetti. After the match though, Super Crazy attacked with the spike. He ended up bloodying one of the Atlas Security guards, causing the other Atlas guards to handcuff Crazy and drag him to the back kicking and screaming!
Segment #9- The Sandman vs. Pogo the Clown in a Lights Out Titanium Dipped Shovel Match. Pogo was brutalizing Sandman early on causing his wife Lori to run to the ring. Once in the ring though, she turned on Sandman and hit him with his own Singapore Cane. Pogo then nailed Sandman with the Shovel and got the pinfall rather quickly, in about 5 minutes!
Segment #10- XPW World Heavyweight Champion Shane Douglas (with Lizzy Borden) vs. Vic Grimes (with Lucy aka Daffney). This was an awesome world title match. The best Shane and Vic performance in Philly. Everything clicked in this match, from Lizzy and Lucy's fighting to Shane and Vic's wrestling. The match went about 25 minutes and not once was the crowd not into it. There were "I Love Lucy" chants directed at the former Daffney, which was pretty funny. Near the end of the match, Lizzy climbed on Grimes' back, but Grimes slammed her backwards through a table that was propped in the corner. Lizzy never moved again after that. Shane was able to regroup and hit a belly to belly suplex for the pinfall and remain champion!
I am sorry for the lack of details on a lot of the matches, but it was a great show and once the matches air on TV I will add more.
XPW returns to Philly on Friday January 17th with New Years' Revolution and then on Saturday January 18th with Aftermath.
It appears the plan is to run these Friday/Saturday shows every month in Philly.
