“Albert or A-Train, or Poo Choo Train, is a horrible wrestler that nobody in their right might wants to see.” Clear it off my Chest – Random Thoughts No explanation for the quote at the start, apart from the fact it made me spit out my drink, laughing. Tito has a tendency to come up with a gem of a remark once in a while! "Various injuries to Triple H’s right thigh will keep the Game out of the ring for two to three weeks. But Triple H was extremely relieved to get that prognosis today, as he feared the injury could have been a lot more serious. " - Ah, I bet the internet community are short-changed. Just when they thought they may have been spared Triple H over the Christmas period and onwards, he was just teasing ya!. Nevermind, takes some dedication to work with an injury. Nobody really gives the guy credit for that. I bet Hunter's wishing he could go through a PPV injury free? "After watching the SmackDown! taping tonight, it seemed hard to believe that many of the Superstars on the show are only starting to get over a major case of food poisoning." - I swear to god there's some kind of stalker. First of all the Raw roster was partially wiped out after a virus some wrestlers got after their trip to India. Now, the Smackdown roster were nearly taken out of action. I mean, if your unhappy with the direction that wrestling is heading into, just turn the television off. No need to actually make them ill. "Marc revealed that he & Rena have not been asked to appear on the Raw 10th Anniversary Special and said that he won't be on the show unless WWE makes him a great offer or Rena wants him to be on it." - Yeah, whatever. If you were asked, you'd jump at the chance of the shining of a spotlight, or even the opening of an envelope. At least he ain't too bitter. I was thinking to myself how badly damaged the title situation is in the WWE. I don't want to get into the subject of it at all, but I was having a look at title histories, and obviously the WWE Title, is held in more regard than the World Heavyweight Title. I don't know. I just can't get used to it. Maybe instead of scrapping the brand extension, they should rename both brands. One could be WWE, and one could be WCW. Or ECW. I really haven't got a solution, but it would be interesting. If we are to treat both brands as different companies altogether, what can you lose from doing that. Wasn't there a rumour not so long ago, that Vince was planning to bring ECW back? Anthology Competition Results + Review In last week's edition of GDH, Santa Tommyboy decided to give his readers copies of the new Anthology CD, which has been now released in the UK. Though this week, to kill some pre-festive preparation time, I thought I'd have a quick look at it. Only because "Real American" is playing right now. What a nasty song. Back in the day, once this song hit, and that big old yellow thing came out, well, everyone marked out! When some people say whether Austin was bigger than Hogan, I disagree entirely. Hogan was over in more ways than one, back in the day, Hogan was quite simply, untouchable. Bret Hart. Wish he could come back one day. Bret vs. Vince would have been just as good as Austin vs. Vince. I hated the Bushwackers. I mean, these kinds of teams would be ripped apart by the fans in the WWE. Shows how much things have changed. Million $ Man. One of the best heels of his time in the WWF. His gimmick was great, though whether it was politically correct, I doubt it. Good wrestler too. When Jake Roberts comes to mind, Ill never forget Earthquake squashing his snake, and they used that as an angle! Razor Ramon. How did that ever get over. Ultimate Warrior, again like Hogan, when that music hit, I would mark out like mad. Funny how when you get older, things become a lot clearer, or more bitter. Brother Love. I always used to think he was just "red" because he was too hot. Guess not. Gotta love Honky Tonk Man. Flash Funk, another silly gimmick, that really didn't get over. Where is 2 Cold Scorpio these days? Has anyone seen Sunny (Tammy Sytch), ugh god. I used to think she was pretty hot back then. Los Boricuas, geez. If you think seeing some of these angles nowadays was bad, lets think how lucky we are. I remember the DOA vs. Nation vs. Boricuas feud. That was pain in it's element. Shawn's Farewell song. To think that song came about the WWF lying through the teeth. Can't get away with doing that now. Pulling the wool over the fan's eyes. Owen, tragic, tragic story. "With my baby tonight.." - anyone remember that storyline? The PPV where Jeff Jarrett performed that song, but it wasnt his. When he went to WCW, they used it as a gimmick for Road Dogg ! - Can someone tell me when they used "The Dudester", another song for Dude Love? Shame, because they could have included Mankind's last crashy entrance theme. The DX days, ah, whats days they were. There was always something wrong with "Ass Man" with lyrics like "I love to watch them" or "I love to shove them..", even "I love to stick them..". You think if Ken Shamrock's music hit out of nowhere, anyone would give a toss? Gangrel's music owned big style. Shame he wasn't used nearly enough for us fans to get bored of listening to the entrance theme. It was always a case of "Gangrel”, is almost ready to come back to tv.." New Age Outlaws were great. They were also proof that you can take 2 jobbers and make them successful. I don't believe they've even included Regal's "Real Man's Man" tune. The whole point of CD's was to put the best tunes on, not the worst. Lita's been gone a long while, hasn't she. Be interesting to see if she joins up for a dose of "Mattitude". Nothing much else to say really about the 3rd CD. 2 Undertaker tunes that are with and without lyrics, too many female wrestling tunes, and in fact, just a lot of crap that wouldn't sell if promoted as a single CD. Ah, well. At least we've got CD1. The answer to the following question was: Q: How much did Mike Tyson earn for his WWF/E appearances between January and March 1998? There was a huge response to this, Hotmail even warned me about closing my account down. Now, I was very surprised at the level of varying answers. I can safely say, that the correct answer is $3.5 Million. The first 5 correct answers win a free copy of the WWE Anthology CD. The winners are as follows: James Finlay, Dominic Lee, Brian Arthur, Simon Alexander, and Benjamin Golanski. Well done to everyone who got involved. I will be getting in contact with the people above to confirm home addresses, etc. GDH Awards 2002 In unison with the competition last week, I asked GDH readers to send in their "End-of-Year" awards. Every website and columnist is doing them, but I thought why bother reading mine, when it be more interesting to see what others thought collectively, so here we go: Wrestler of the Year : Kurt "The Legend" Angle 2. Brock Lesnar 3. Eddie Guererro - There was no contest. Kurt Angle is the 2002 GDH Wrestler of the Year. The guy is a legend, and I am so pleased who was given the opportunity to win the WWE World Title. With the birth of his new daughter, a possible flurry for the 2004 Olympics, best wrestling in the WWE, best on the mic, funniest guy. The list goes on. Nobody came close. Tag Team of the Year : Los Guerreros 2. Booker T & Goldust 3. Kurt Angle & Chris Benoit - The current WWE SD Tag Champions win the vote, with Booker T and Goldust coming up with a close 2nd. I haven't had much chance to watch Los Guerreros in action this year because of Uni, but from what I've seen on the PPV's, they are your typical heel tag team, and it's great to see Eddie and Chavo getting it on. I've enjoyed Booker T, and Goldust as a tandem, but I don't really enjoy watching their matches. Alyways seems Goldust is taking the beat-down, and Booker T always gets the hot tag... Match of the Year : Shawn Michaels vs. HHH, Summerslam 2002 2. The Rock vs. Hollywood Hulk Hogan, Wrestlemania X8 3. Edge vs. Eddie Guererro "No DQ", Smackdown. - Weird, because if you stripped away the fact that it was HBK's first match in 4 years, and that it was against his "former" friend, and that Shawn really shouldn't have been wrestling, I don't think it is the Match of the Year. There were too many excellent matches outstanding from the "Smackdown 6". Also, Rock vs. Hogan is not a great match neither, but the crowd heat was phenomenal. Unbelievable. A match that sticks out in my mind. Feud of the Year : Kurt Angle vs. Edge 2. Kurt Angle vs. Chris Benoit 3. Angle/Benoit vs. Edge/Rey vs. Los Guerreros - What the hell does that tell you? Apart from that Kurt Angle is the f'n man. That is quite an astonishing result. Wrestling Event of the Year : WWE Summerslam 2002 2. WWE Wrestlemania X8 3. WWE Survivor Series 2002 - This year's Summerslam was awesome. I mentioned in last week's column exactly what I thought of it compared to what the WWE was offering with "Armageddon". Wrestlemania was good, but Summerslam just had a better build up of matches. From Angle vs. Rey, to HBK vs. HHH, to the awesome Brock vs. Rock. WWE showed how to correctly book, promote, and create an excellent PPV. All downhill since. Best Interviews of the Year : Kurt Angle 2. Chris Jericho 3. The Rock - Angle is sweeping these awards now. Some of those interviews with Rey, especially the one before their match in which he was making references to "young boys.." were funny. That's what there 'spose to be. If they make people laugh, then great, if they bore the hell outta ya, it's not good. Move of the Year : "F5" - Brock Lesnar 2. "Crippler Crossface" - Chris Benoit 3. "619" - Rey Misterio - I've always loved the F5. Lesnar's made it his own. If you can put it on the Big Show, you can put it on anyone. That's the beauty of it. Benoit's crossface is just so awesome to watch, and it looks so painful. Everyone loves the "619", it's just crazy how he does it. Angle / Storyline of the Year : nWo Coming to WWE. 2. Brand Split / Extension 3. The Rock vs. Hollywood Hulk Hogan - Lot of people criticised the arrival of the nWo, I actually liked it. However you look at it, I don't think the angle would have had much life left in it anyway, just for the plain fact that it had been re-hashed so many times, it was inevitably going to die again. The Brand Extension was a major angle, because of it's uniqueness and impact. That Raw episode with Hogan confronting Rock, was awesome. Character / Gimmick of the Year : Kurt Angle 2. Goldust 3. Chris Jericho - I ain't saying anything about Kurt Angle. I think Goldust is more over now, than he was back in his first run during the mid-90's, how bizarre. Especially since he was only brought back for the Royal Rumble. Maybe we will see that this year. I haven't liked Jericho's matches, gimmick, or promos, post-Undisputed Title reign. Though, in the past couple of months, I think he's getting stronger again. His character has had a transitional period, and I think it's about damn time he get's the push he deserves. Most Improved Wrestler of the Year : Edge 2. Trish Stratus 3. Brock Lesnar - I can't disagree. Edge is getting better as time goes by, and has really seen his stock rise as a fan favourite. Trish has also surprised many, because she really has improved! Not sure why Lesnar is included, because I think he's improving all the time, but that is always going to be the case, especially since he's young. Would have been nice to see Uncle Eddie get a few more votes. Your favourite EVER WWF/E Entrance Music : "Hitman" - Bret Hart 2. "Real American" - Hulk Hogan 3. "Break it Down" - D-Generation X Big thanks to everyone who took part. Never seen so many e-mails in one inbox! HIW Fatal Friday – Xmas Edition, Tonight!. Gimmicks Die Hard – Missed a column, find it here.. ……and that my Friend’s concludes another edition of GDH on LOP. Have a Merry Christmas, don't drink and drive, but have a great f'n time.
