Backstage Armageddon notes, Goldberg/WWE update, Awesome interview Submitted by William Martinez on Monday, December 16, 2002 at 2:17 PM EST
There was a Maven vs. Chris Nowinski match scheduled to take place at Armageddon but it was pulled over the weekend for an unknown reason. The pay-per-view was a longer than usual show so time constraints are a likely reason.
There is no word on whether the leg injury Triple H was selling last night was a real injury or not.
To update the Goldberg/WWE situation, Goldberg's camp is said to be considering the offer made by WWE and WWE may have offered Goldberg a short-term deal in case he doesn't want to sign a full-time deal.
A lot of people were said to be shocked that Rob Van Dam was kept off the pay-per-view last night although the feeling is that Triple H had something to do with it.
This week, Mike Awesome joined the No Holds Barred radio show and here are the highlights.
He is facing Jerry Lynn at the upcoming MLW show and he expects it to be great. He put over Jerry Lynn as one of the best in the business and severely underutilized by the big organizations.
He talked about the WWE and they would not let him be himself. He likes to beat people up with chairs and powerbombs off the top rope and the WWE would not allow it. He said the WWE never used him correctly and he feels a lot of that is heat between he and Paul Heyman. He left Heyman in ECW and never got a fair chance in the WWE. He misses the Monday night wars and the competition in the business. He feels the business is a good ol boys club and too many politics are involved in holding talented performers back. He does not see a return to WWE as he does not like the schedule or the backstage games. Mike also said he refuses to kiss ass.
Mike is currently working 20 weeks a year in Japan and loves it. He said the angle in Japan is who can wrestle better. He is tired of seeing 20 minute promos and 2 minute matches.
Mike is going to talk with Jeff and Jerry Jarrett this week to discuss a schedule with NWA-TNA.
He closed with funny stories of his days as the fat chick thriller.
