Report by Steve Graison Report by Jason Andrews via WrestlingObserver.com Dark Match Spanky d. Kid Kash(I think it was him). Decent match but crowd was dead. Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Hass d. Doug Basham and Redd Dogg. No one cared. Guys seemed to work pretty hard. Velocity Matt Hardy d. someone from Dusty's fed. Hardy dominated, and got a lot of face pops. Chuck Palumbo d. some guy. Those were the days when Palumbo was on Howard Stern with Billy huh. Crowd was dead, but then again, only the lower bowl of Philips was really full, and not even 100%. Smackdown Funaki d. Tony Mamaluke (I heard someone next to me say it's who it was.). Pretty short, and dominated by Funaki. Mamaluke sells well. Kidman d. Chavo via DQ. Kidman went for shooting star and Eddie threw him off the top. Benoit came out and german suplexed Eddie and Chavo. Smackdown Intro was Torrie/Dawn Marie from last week. 1. B2 def. Rikishi. Rikishi goes for stink-face, low balled by Bull, then Cena nails him with some "bling-bling." Yup, Cena and Bull came down dressed like preppy thugs, complete with jewlery. Cena even went retro thug with the old San Diego Padres jersey and hat. They did a stupid white boy thug pose before the match. Some ruthless aggression Torrie "arrives" to Philips, and goes right to the make-up lady, who's getting a lot of TV time lately. Make-up lady spreads some dirt saying Dawn Marie is spreading rumors about Torrie's lesbian skills. Then, they show Brock signing autographs, and it turns out he was signing for Kurt Angle. Nice segment here, as it could plant the seeds for a good Angle/Lesnar program at Mania. Angle said he could get Brock's suspension lifted, and asked for Brock's help at the PPV by being in his corner, because Show had Heyman and Brock could get his hands on Heyman. Angle says if he and Brock wrestle, since they were both former amateur wrestling champions it would be the greatest match in WWE history. Brock tells Angle if he gets his suspension lifted for him, he'll think about it. There was no in-ring segment at all. Then it cuts to Heyman, Show, and Albert in the locker room, and Heyman calls Albert A-train. Real original. But Albert pulls a Mikey from the Life commercials and says, "A-train. I LIKE IT!" I knew there was a reason this clown was never on Smackdown much. Vince must snort blow. Josh Matthews from TE 1 comes in and asks Heyman what he thought of what just happened. Heyman says he's interested in Torrie/Dawn Marie. Matthews says not that, but Lesnar getting his suspension lifted. Show freaks, Albert does nothing, Heyman says he'll handle it. Bill Demott cuts a promo on Atlanta for heel heat, saying he spent 6 years wasting his life living and working in Atlanta. Hey pal, no one ever said you had to do the Hugh Morrus and Hugh G. Rection gimmicks. Bill Demott d. Shannon Moore. Basic squash. Demott does have a good moonsault. Guerreros d. Benoit/Kidman to retain tag titles in a good match. Also longest match of the night. Most of the match was heels beating on Kidman, who made two hot tags to Benoit. They blew a spot here as Benoit german suplexed Eddie and Kidman wasn't far enough out of the way, and Eddie landed 3/4 on Kidman. Didn't look good, but the only bad thing of the match. Finish was Benoit cross-facing Eddie, and Chavo set up for the shooting star. Kidman missed, and Chavo rolled up Kidman and got the pin using the ropes. Eddie and Benoit will go one-on-one at the PPV. I assume Chavo vs. Kidman will happen as well. Interest factor sort of dulled as Chavo came out for the Velocity match earlier with his tag belt on which gave away the result of this match. Torrie confronts Dawn Marie and tells her she made a promise and to go to the ring and follow through on it. Oh god save us. Too bad he couldn't. Dawn calls out Al and she spoke so softly and the crowd was so mad and dis-interested I couldn't make out 9/10 of what was said. I saw Tazz and Cole visibly un-moved. Cole looked like he was taking a nap. That was the funniest thing in this segment. Dawn did say she was going to marry him still and said some things about Torrie. Torrie rushes down and they have a roll-around. She knocks down her old man, and then her and Dawn roll around on the floor. Dawn does the worst "into the steps" spot I've ever seen. Refs come down to cop their feels and seperate the ladies. Dawn says she will show the world at the PPV how Torrie enjoyed the hotel room. Torrie cries. I didn't. Crash d. Jamie Noble by DQ. Crash was going for the AJ Styles finisher when Nunzio/Little Guido came out and beat him down. Gudio looks to have put on some muscle since I saw him in ECW. He gave him a finisher and celebrated with Noble. Nidia didn't look thrilled, but Noble made her hug Nunzio. She reluctantly did. A limo rolls up and Steph sends the intern to get Steiner. They bring out the red carpet and furniture for the contract signing. Steph comes out and asks for the contract, then Steiner comes out to a nice ovation. He's about to sign but then starts talking about last week in the limo, and how no one knows what happened. Then he said nothing happened. He tried to screw her on the table but Steph said she's all business. Stenier says she's a tease. He thinks Smackdown is a good show, but not while Steph's in charge. He walks toward the back as Steph begs and pleads, and then Bischoff shows up on the stage, and she throws a fit. She throws the contract which came close to me and my buddy. I wanted to read the "fine print" on that but I got swayed off by arena security and then WWE security picked it up. Bischoff never did anything but smile on the stage. They showed clips of Mysterio's surgery. Even those camera inside the body shots of messed up tissue. They sold it like he could've had his career ended. He says he'll train and be back soon. Edge interviewed by Josh Matthews. Edge said he was pissed at Albert and would take it out on him starting tonight, and finishing at the PPV. Angle comes in and Edge says they have a past. Asks if Angle has his back, and Angle says he will like Brock will have his back at the PPV. Big Show and A-Train d. Kurt Angle/Edge. Not a bad match on Edge/Angle's side. Edge got nailed in the knee by a chair from Albert while on the top rope going for Show. Angle got out of the choke slam, did the angle slam on Show, then was distracted by Heyman. He turned around for another choke slam which he took for the pin. A-Train gave Angle his new finisher, and then the heels stood over the fallen Angle and talked trash. Cameras probably stopped here. The heels left up the ramp and Angle got back up and then Show went back for more. Angle put him in the Ankle lock, then Albert came in and he put him in the ankle lock. Edge finally comes back and they double ankle lock Albert. Show cried as he stumbled up the ramp. Edge had to be helped out by little Hebner, and Angle raised his hand.
