EXPLORE NEW TECHNOLOGY LIKE NEVER BEFORE AT NEW CIRCUIT CITY IN COLONIAL HEIGHTS!

PRO-WRESTLER “STONE COLD” STEVE AUSTIN ON HAND TO CELEBRATE OPENING AND SUPPORT LOCAL BOYS & GIRLS CLUB

Richmond, Va., November 18, 2002 – Shopping for consumer electronics is so much more than simply finding and purchasing a product…it’s about the experience, the excitement of discovering the newest technology and, above all, it’s about the service.

“It’s one thing to make the decision to buy a new television or camcorder; it’s an entirely different thing to be faced with the decision of which product may best suit your needs,” said W. Alan McCollough, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Circuit City Stores. “Come visit the newest Circuit City in Colonial Heights and let us share our enthusiasm and knowledge of the latest and greatest technology!”

The new Colonial Heights store, located at 820 Southpark Boulevard, will grand open November 21, 2002. This replaces the store located at 1823 Southpark Boulevard in Colonial Heights. Circuit City operates four other stores in the greater Richmond area.

“We know first impressions are important,” said McCollough. “With that in mind, Circuit City Superstores are bright and simple to navigate with easy-to-read signage. However, we know that our customers are looking for more than just style…they want substance. Do we have a great selection of big-screen televisions, digital imaging products, gaming consoles and home audio equipment? Absolutely! Do we have comprehensive interactive displays to provide our customers with a wonderful hands-on experience? Sure we do! Just as important, though, is the pride we take in providing superior customer service and information on all of those products.”

Circuit City sales counselors participate in both formal and on-the-floor training. Interactive, on-line training is an essential tool in Circuit City’s training process, along with one-on-one mentoring and small group instruction. Veteran sales counselors from other stores are brought in to assist with some of that training. The training programs help ensure that Circuit City sales counselors are cross-trained so they are familiar with all of the products and can listen and understand each customer’s individual needs.

“In addition to the opening of a great new store, we are excited to welcome “Stone Cold” Steve Austin to help us celebrate and greet our customers,” said McCollough. Austin will be on hand at the new Colonial Heights Superstore from 6 p.m. – 7 p.m. to autograph souvenirs. In support of Circuit City’s national partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of America, proceeds from the sale of Austin-autographed souvenirs will go to the local Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Richmond.

5:30 p.m. – 5:45 p.m. – Circuit City and Austin will present Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Richmond with donation check for $10,000

6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. – Doors open to the public and Austin will sign autographs

“We know folks will have a great time exploring the new Colonial Heights store, which adapts the high service levels for which we are known to the products and the consumer shopping preferences that exist today,” said McCollough. “We have taken the best parts of our store and made them better, and we’ve added a new dimension and new level of excitement that we believe will stimulate the imagination of the electronics consumer.”
