Corner to Corner: A Rant Is A Rant

There is no anger like that of a disgruntled fan. Watching the filth infiltrate the product incenses people by the thousands. What could possibly make it worse? Watching it and knowing there's only one option to get away from it. That's right... Change the channel... Damn decisions are hard.
Hello everyone and welcome back to Corner to Corner! I'm your host Stan Grubb, and I'll be guiding you down a very emotion filled road today. So, if you're willing, LET'S GO!
Corner to Corner: A Rant is a Rant
Part of what makes this business so wonderful is the fact that it is so diverse. Today's industry has evolved so much, that often times we're given difficult situations to endure, just to get to the next good point. Now, many people pulled their pens and papers out and BASHED the WWE for the necrophiliac incident just two weeks ago. They claimed it was insulting and disgusting and that WWE should be YANKED off television. People screamed so loud that by the time WWE got to Sunday Night Heat, the angle was a hit. Why? Because they did what they did to piss us all off. No, I did NOT like the angle or skit at all. I found it to be boring and pointless, but aside from that I accepted it for what it was and didn't try to blow it up the way WWE wanted me to. See, they WANT us to freak out. That's a PART OF THE SHOW too. They don't care how we react guys, as long as we react.
I'm willing to bet that the WWE experienced a good amount of feedback from us all regarding the show, but they didn't get the press they so desired. What was that? No publicity? Well damn Vince, I guess it's time to get back in the ring and make the boys do some work again. I didn't write last week purposely. To me, the only notable occurance to take place in wrestling this past week was the signing of Scott Steiner. Raw did NOT merit a mention, nor did Smackdown.
I am no huge fan of Steiner either, but at least the man is a big name. While I think his mic work stinks, I know his in ring work may be stiff enough to FORCE Triple H to get his head out of his ass. By the way, the skit this past Monday was one hundred and ten percent better than last week's. It's only going to take one hard clothesline by Steiner, and I'm fairly certain that Helmsley will start rethinking his position. Tito has pointed it out many times, and I'm inclined to agree, the McMahons get their jollies of big muscular types. Steiner will be no different in my view, as we'll more than likely witness his rise in a matter of months compared to the others' years of hard work. No disrespect to either set, but Steiner is a known main event, and I'm pretty sure that the fans WILL pay to see him.
Gee Triple H, what will you do when a bigger guy comes in and starts TAKING your spotlight? Don't think for one second that Scott Steiner isn't able to steal the thunder of the over-blown champion. It would be good for business to have Trips put Steiner over clean. Will it happen? Ask Stephanie...
The Elimination Chamber is supposed to some brand new match. I don't know about the match, but the idea of have six RAW superstars involved makes me wonder just what the hell will happen. What really surprises me is who they chose to take part. Realistically speaking, it's hard to understand how he figures these guys are in contention. Booker, Jericho, RVD, and Michaels haven't been in active SOLO competition towards the belt in some time. Michaels especially. Don't misunderstand me, I'm looking forward to the bout, but I'm just not sure it makes a lot of sense to have the guys he chose. Still, I wouldn't have been so comfortable choosing anyone else over them. At least RVD had a title shot recently. The chances of HHH coming out as champion, however, would still appear to be good. I mean, here's a guy who jobs less than Goldberg and Hogan COMBINED. He's either the most manipulative man in the business right now, or he's just the smartest. Either way, as much as the fan in me wants to see HBK make a go of it, or RVD finally attain the strap, I just don't think it's going to happen.
I'm dissappointed that the belts are all gone but one now on RAW. I liked the Intercontinental title and I still think it could have been pushed as the major title for RAW rather than a new World title. Still, with the dwindling numbers on both rosters, and injuries occuring like mad lately, it's easy to see how they figured slimming down the title prospects might help. I mean, their rosters were becoming so small, that they started pushing the TE2 winners WAAAY too soon. So it's clear to see that they felt the time was at hand to do away with some of the gold. Still, I miss the IC title. So many memories.
It's short and sweet this week. As we progress further and further, I think we're on that fine line of what will be success and what will be failure in today's business. It's not the fault of the fan for wanting to find something to believe in anymore. We're getting to that point where we're BEGGING for something new and exciting each go round. It's a rough time we're in, so let's all buckle up. There's no telling what is around the next corner.
Until next week, thanks for reading and take care.
