Pleasant Nov 2 with DDP by "the analyst" Eric Mchugh. ------------------ This coming Saturday night in Point Pleasant, NJ, there will be a homecoming not of the Thanksgiving high school football variety, but of the pro wrestling variety. Phoenix Championship Wrestling presents the former 3-time (3-time! 3-time!) WCW World Champion Diamond Dallas Page at the Point Pleasant Middle School this Saturday night, November 2. DDP returns to the town he was raised in and the area in which he was a college basketball standout to meet and greet the fans on this special night. Also at the event will be 7 dynamic corpse-free matches featuring the top stars of Phoenix Championship Wrestling, including 2 title defenses. Here's a rundown of the matches this Saturday night: DONNIE BON JOVI -vs- KHUL An interesting matchup signed for this night sees two of the most hated wrestlers in the company battling it out. Donnie Bon Jovi recently saw his winning streak end at one at the hands of Eric Justice, the same man he mentally snapped on back in June at a Toms River event. Having now tasted victory, however, Donnie certainly has the drive to want to get another streak going in the "W" column. Meanwhile, Khul seems to have problems of his own, as rumour has it the Matrix are not at all the cohesive unit they once were. Ever since the departure of Silvermane, Prodigy lost the TV belt, and Kuhl and General Zeig have been losing matches and reportedly bickering behind-the-scenes. In fact, at our last Toms River event Zeig and Khul reportedly nearly came to blows just before Khul's match, and Zeig not only didn't accompany him to ringside as scheduled, but Zeig left the building only moments later. Khul was nonetheless victorious, but there's no doubt the fall of the Matrix must weigh on his mind. Both men have issues that may distract them from this match, and the winner here may be the one who can keep his head the clearest. PRECIOUS METALS -vs- SAMMY & DAVE -vs- PHI TAPPA KEG "Platinum" Mike Preston and "Titanium" Tank Tolliman-collectively known as Precious Metals-are coming into this match feeling they have something to prove. At the last Toms River event, they were defeated in challenging United Nations for the tag belts. They were already booked for this event as well but were hoping they would be the ones to defend the belts. Instead, they're a part of this 3-way elimination tag match. Their opponents are all young and new talent, but in the eyes of Preston and Tolliman, Sammy & Dave and Phi Tappa Keg are nothing more than raw meat. Sammy & Dave are more known as Donnie Bon Jovi's lackeys than for their tag skills, but they are both young and seem to have some decent teamwork (as was evidenced in their numerous attacks on Eric Justice at the last Toms River event, most notably with an electric chair drop off the top rope). On the other hand, Phi Tappa Keg are the enigma in this match, as not much is known regarding their teamwork. They are, however, well-known for enjoying a loud and physical party wherever possible. Precious Metals have the experience edge, but can they overcome the unpredictability of both of the opposing teams? CHI CHI CRUZ -vs- JOEY MATTHEWS This match is being billed as a #1 contenders match for the TV title, currently held by Frankie Kazarian, who seems to have gained somewhat of a smug attitude as of late. Cruz scored a tremendous upset at the last Toms River event over AJ Styles before being challenged by Kazarian for a title defense later that night. Kazarian was able to gain the victory thanks to the interference of Styles himself, and an alliance seemingly was formed. Cruz has had an impressive streak of wins lately and indeed had earned this title opportunity, but Kazarian plead his case to the PCW committee stating that Cruz should earn another title shot by gaining a victory over another top contender. Kazarian just happened to have just the right person in mind as well, none other than Joey Matthews. The match was signed, and Cruz is determined to do whatever he must to taste gold in PCW. Matthews is more of a tag-team specialist, but has plenty of speed and natural talent to carry him in the singles ranks as well. The former ECW star-along with his partner, Christian York-have gone further than ever thanks to their recent change in philosophy, but Cruz has shown he can bend a few rules when needed as well. This will be a tight contest that either man could spring a victory out of. ALEXIS LAREE -vs- MISS KARA SLICE After months of confrontations in and out of the ring between these ladies and their respective wrestlers (Matt Vandal and Julio Dinero), Alexis Laree and Miss Kara Slice are finally going to settle the issue in the ring in a sanctioned match. Both are among the most beautiful women on the independent circuit, yet both can fight and wrestle much better than many fans realize. There's been no word as to whether or not the men will be allowed at ringside for this match, but either way whoever is lucky (or unlucky?) enough to referee this one will have his/her hands full. No pun intended. These two collide this Saturday night for the first time in PCW for female supremacy of Phoenix Championship Wrestling! SLAYER/ERIC JUSTICE -vs- UNITED NATIONS [PCW tags] Slayer was in a bind. His normal tag-team partner and manager, Father Osbourne, has taken a leave of absence from PCW (reportedly holding out for more money from PCW since he's a "major MTV star" now, although this hasn't been officially confirmed). Slayer and Ozzy were booked for this title match, but now Slayer had to figure out who he felt comfortable enough to team up with. At the last Toms River event, a bond was formed with Slayer and "Powerchild" Eric Justice. Justice cleared the United Nations away from beating down on Slayer early in the show, and Slayer returned the favor later on when Donnie Bon Jovi and Sammy and Dave were laying out Justice. They have agreed to team up for this match, and two of PCW's most popular athletes have their shot at the championship this Saturday night. United Nations have continued to improve every time out, as their teamwork has gotten crisper and their overall bond stronger. The fans continue to hate their attitude towards the non-Jamaican and non-Indian parts of the world, but there's no denying their talent and grip on the tag-team championship. Of course, if new UN member Sonjay Dutt is present in their corner on this night, it may be even more difficult for Slayer and Justice to leave the building with those belts. MATT VANDAL -vs- SEVEN Matt Vandal is among the hottest properties not only in PCW, but on the independent circuit. His rapid improvement, size, agility, look, and damn near everything else you can think of are getting more and more people to notice him and notice him in a hurry. He is the #1 contender for Malice's PCW championship, and arguably the most popular wrestler in the company (having Alexis Laree seconding him certainly doesn't hurt either). Vandal missed out on a recent title shot against Malice due to a scheduling conflict on the champ's part, but he is guaranteed a shot in the near future. However, Malice may know Vandal has what it takes to wrest the championship from him. Vandal was originally scheduled to take on Jimmy Vegas on this night, but this past week rumour has it that Malice put in a call to his Haas Cup partner, OVW monster (and member of the Disciples of Synn) Seven. Before you know it, Vegas is out of the match and Seven is in! There's been no word as to what may have happened to Jimmy Vegas, although it wouldn't surprise many if Seven had to do little more than glare at him to perhaps get him to back out of the match. Whatever the case, Vandal will take on Malice's hired gun, the massive Seven, this Saturday night! Both men are large and surprisingly quick. Strength may go to Seven, but frankly this match is going to be hard to call, and if Seven is able to weaken Vandal enough, Malice may coast over him with surprising ease down the line. This one is the match that I personally truly can't wait to see this Saturday night in Point Pleasant. DEVON STORM -vs- MALICE [PCW title] Malice will be watching the Matt Vandal-Seven match very carefully, but he also won't forget about his match. Malice is defending the PCW title against an old rival of his from the indy circuit, Devon Storm. Storm, known as Crowbar in WCW, is a former World tag-team champion, and he has also held many major indy belts across the country. Storm has been in the ring with every major name you can think of. Storm is ECW, WCW and WWF experienced. Storm is world-traveled and as talented as they come. He's also got a penchant for unpredictability…who can forget the night he tossed his WCW tag title skyhigh in the aisle on a Monday NITRO? Both men have improved greatly over the years, and they both may not have even peaked yet. This will be a physical battle for the PCW title that neither man wants to lose. Malice has the undeniable size and strength advantage, while Storm wins out on speed. Storm has that unpredictability, but Malice has had the demons in his head-perhaps aided by whatever Seven (and perhaps others?) has been putting in his proverbial cocktail lately-to make him just as unpredictable, and certainly more angry. Vandal and/or Seven may also find themselves involved in this one, and we have the makings of perhaps the most physical PCW title match in company history this Saturday night. There you have the lineup. Those seven matches along with the special appearance of Diamond Dallas Page, who will be present the entire night, at the Point Pleasant Middle School this Saturday, November 2.
