NWA-TNA PPV Results 10-23-02

    Yo!
    Ok, this is the first of what will hopefully be plenty of NWA-TNA recaps I bring to the fine readers of LOP. Since it’s pretty damn impossible for me to write down every single thing that happened, I’ve tried my best to jot down the most important or impressive moments. Let me know how I did by emailing me or maybe catching me while I’m on the LOP message boards.

    NWA - TNA : Oct/23/02

    Intro:
    Don West and Mike Tenay discuss what will be going down tonight.

    Match 1:

    Kid Kash vs. S.A.T.’s vs. Elix Skipper vs. Amazing Red
    5-Way Elimination Match for #1 Contender spot for the X-Division Title


    - Early on Kid Kash and Amazing red both pull off some nice flips over the top rope onto the other wrestlers to the outside.
    - Every single wrestler gets in on one submission at the same time.
    - Elix Skipper breaks free and breaks it up.
    - Kid Kash with the hurancanrana on Joell Maximo from the top rope to the outside. Kash then gives him a tornado DDT from the announce booth.
    - Elix Skipper walks across the top of the ropes to Jose who was sitting in the middle of them, and delivers a hurancanrana.
    - Kid Kash with a huge overhead slam on Amazing Red from the top turnbuckle.
    - Skipper eliminates Jose with the Play Of The Day.
    - Joell Maximo eliminates Elix Skipper with the Maximo Explosion.
    - Kid Kash eliminates Joell with the Moneymaker.
    - Amazing Red gets a 2 count on Kash after a spinning heel kick.
    - Kid gets a 2 count on Red after a double springboard flip.
    - A few pin reversals take place between Kid and Red.
    - Kid gets a 2 count on Red after hitting the Bankroll.
    - Kid gets a 2 count after nailing Red with a big crossbody off the top turnbuckle.
    - Amazing Red wins with the Infra Red and becomes the #1 ontender for the X-Division Title.

    Winner: Amazing Red

    Sluts in the cages shake it like it’s going out of style.

    Interview

    Goldilocks talks to Brian Lawler. He mentions his match against B.G. James coming up. Lawler is acting all weird, wondering where April is.

    The announcers then take everyone back to 7 days ago when the Hot Shots and some other tag team jumped Harris and Storm after their match.

    Match 2:

    Harris and Strom vs. The Hot Shots
    Tag Team Championship Match


    - Harris and Storm rush the ring and a brawl ensues.
    - Storm and Reilly (sp?) throw each other into guard rails.
    - Storm reverses springboard into powerbomb on the outside.
    - Storm connects with a suplex on the outside.
    - Harris beats on Stevens near the booth. Steves begins to bleed.
    - The action goes back to the ring. Harris takes on Stevens.
    - Hot Shots gain the momentum back.
    - Reilly tagged in. Suplex for the 2 count.
    - Stevens tagged in for a double team maneuver.
    - Stevens uses a half crab, then some chops.
    - Harris fights back with chops and clothesline.
    - Stevens comes in.
    - Stevens gets speared by Harris.
    - Storm comes in. He takes out the Hot Shots with back body drops.
    - Storm drop toe holds Reilly’s face into the nuts of Stevens.
    - 2 count for Reilly after a superkick to get Stevens out of a finishing move.
    - Storm comes back in the ring hitting the 8 Second Ride for the win.

    Winners: Harris and Storm

    A re-cap of the Lynn / Siaki feud is shown.

    Interview

    Goldilocks talks to Jerry Lynn. He talks about how wrestling doesn’t have an off-season, and how he is tough and all that. He says that the young guys always try to come in and beat veterans like him to get a rub off of it.

    Lawler pops up again acting all weird looking for April.

    Match 3

    Sonny Siaki vs. Jerry Lynn

    - Lynn Rushes the ring and pulls Siaki to the floor.
    - Lynn dives over the guard rail onto Siaki in the crowd.
    - They go back to ringside, and Siaki gets slammed face first on the announce booth.
    - The action goes back into the ring. Lynn scoops up Siaki but his knee gives out.
    - Siaki starts to work the leg with a half crab but Lynn reaches the ropes.
    - Siaki ends up hanging over the second rop ein the ring, and Lynn hits him with a leg drop.
    - Siaki drags Lynn down to the mat. Lynn gets his leg slammed in to the ring post.
    - Lynn reverses a knee buster in the ring into a 2 count.
    - Lynn gets clipped on the knee and Siaki gets a 2 count.
    - Siaki with a modified figure four. Lynn escapes.
    - Lynn can barely walk. Siaki continues to work the knee.
    - Siaki with modified surfborad. Works the knee some more.
    - Siaki slams Lynn’s knee into the mat many times.
    - Siaki attempts a figure four only to get kicked into the turnbuckle.
    - Lynn catches Siaki in a roll-up into a bridge for the win.

    Winner: Jerry Lynn

    After the match Siaki is angry as hell and attacks Lynn. The refs charge the ring, trying to stop the brawl, and eventually they do. One of the refs helps Lynn to the back.

    The sluts in the cages do their thing!
    It is announced that the main guy in charge (Armstrong whoever) is supposed to have a big announcement planned next week.

    A video is shown of what went down with Curt Hennig and The Truth last week on NWA-TNA.

    In-Ring Promo

    Curt Hennig and B.G. James come down to the ring.
    Hennig rips on DDP calling him a “Curt Hennig wannabe”. He then calls Jeff Jarrett the biggest “Curt Hennig wannabe” of all time. He mentions how he started the West Texas Rednecks back in WCW and the next thing he knows Jarrett has himself a guitar like the wannabe that he is. Hennig went on to say (twice) that he was the man who took down Brock Lesnar at 30 000 feet! Eventually Hennig challenges Jarrett to a match on next week’s show.

    B.G. James gets the mic and rips on Lawler.

    Back to the caged sluts!
    The announcers have been talking about a silent auction the fans can participate in at the official NWA-TNA site to help add to the Sniper Reward Fund in DC.

    Match 4

    Scott Hall vs. Jeff Jarrett

    Before the match Hall gets the crowd going with a delayed “Hey Yo!”.
    He says he’s been trying to be a good boy, but he’s sick of trying so he’s going to do whatever the hell he wants. Whatever that means.

    - Hall leads off with some punches. Jarrett fights back with some of his own.
    - They go back in the ring, and Hall hits a fallaway slam.
    - They fight to the entrance way. Hall nails Jarrett with a garbage can twice.
    - The two brawl among the crowd. Hall is in charge and takes it back to ringside.
    - Jarrett slams Hall into the ring post.
    - Jarrett hits Hall with a chair.
    - Jarrett gets Hall in the ring and hits him with some punches.
    - Jarrett with a face buster on Hall.
    - Jarrett with a swinging neck breaker for a 2 count.
    - Jarrett puts a sleeper on Hall.
    - Hall breaks loose and hits Jarrett with a chokeslam. Both guys are lying in the ring.
    - Jarrett crawls over and gets a 2 count.
    - Jarrett accidentally knocks out the ref.
    - Jarrett hits Hall with a chair.
    - Hennig runs to the ring and attacks Jarrett.
    - The lights go out and The Truth is shown on the screen talking from the back ripping on Hennig.
    - The lights come back on and Brian Lawler attacks Hennig.
    - B.G. James chases Lawler out of there.
    - Jarrett attempts to hit the Stroke on Hennig, but gets a shot to the nuts allowing Hall to hit The Edge for the win!

    Winner: Scott Hall

    The sluts dance like only they can.

    Match 5

    B.G. James vs. Brian Lawler

    - Lawler gets in the faces of audience members.
    - James runs down to the ring and gets beat down.
    - Lawler falls to the outside.
    - James knocks Lawler around and crotches him on the guard rail.
    - Lawler slams James into the rail.
    - Lawler gets on the mic asking if anyone has seen April.
    - James back body drops Lawler on the cement. (looked pretty awkward)
    - James smashes Lawler into the booth, then hits him with a chair, then slams him into the guard rails.
    - Lawler reverses an irish whip and James hits the steel steps.
    - James hits Lawler with a chair.
    - Back in the ring, B.G. Does his punching routine on Lawler.
    - Lawler reverses an attempted pump-handle slam and nails B.G. with a superkick.
    - Syxx-Pac shows up at the entrance with April and they are making out.
    - Lawler sees the make-out session and goes insane!
    - B.G. knocks the distracted Lawler off the top rope and gets the win!

    Winner: B.G. James

    Lawler leaves the ring in a crying mess.

    Match 6

    A.J. Styles w/ Mortimer Plumtree vs. Syxx-Pac
    No Disqualification Match for the X-Division Championship


    - Syxx-Pac gets on the mic and tells Plumtree to stay out of the match or he’s in trouble.
    - A.J. does a crotch chop only to get hit with some chops from Syxx-Pac.
    - A.J. gets tossed out of the ring.
    - Syxx-Pac flies out of the ring with a front flip over the top ropw onto Styles.
    - Syxx-Pac hits a spinning heel kick on Styles in the ring.
    - Syxx-Pac hits Styles with a modified pancake.
    - Syxx-Pac with the Mexican surfboard on Styles, but breaks the hold to avoid having his shoulders down for the 3 count.
    - Styles hits Syxx-Pac with a hurrancanrana tossing him out of the ring.
    - Syxx-Pac does a modified pancake to Styles, causing him to land on the guard rail with his stomach.
    - Syxx-Pac misses Styles with the steel steps, but rams him into rail and ring post.
    - Styles slams Syxx-Pac into ring post.
    - Styles with a huge corkscrew for a 2 count. He follows up with another pin attempt for a 2 count.
    - Styles with a surfboard, but Syxx-Pac busts out and reverses it.
    - Styles with a drop toe hold.
    - Styles uses another surfboard.
    - Styles with a reverse DDT for a 2 count.
    - Styles misses a dropkick and gets hit with 2 spinning heel kicks and a powerbomb. Syxx-Pac gets a 2 count.
    - Syxx-Pac hits the Bronco Buster and then taunts on the turnbuckle.
    - Styles turns the taunt into a powerbomb for a 2 count.
    - Syxx does a bridge to avoid the pin and hits The Factor.
    - Plumtree grabs the ref before he could make the 3 count.
    - Syxx-Pac with a suplex for a 2 count.
    - Styles with a german suplex for a 2 count.
    - Styles counters a powerbomb into a submission.
    - Syxx-Pac reaches for the ropes, but when he does Brian Lawler runs down and hits him in the face with something.
    - Styles gets the pin!

    Winner: A.J. Styles

    After the match Syxx-Pac hands over the title and poses with Styles, only to have Lawler sneak attack him with the belt.

    Match 7

    Ace Steel vs. Jorge Estrada w/ Priscilla

    - Both wresters do various lock-ups.
    - Steel slams down Jorge.
    - Jorge with some counters and gets a 2 count.
    - Jorge gives Steel a hurrancanrana into the turnbuckle, and follows with chops.
    - Steel with a modified-canarana move for a 2 count.
    - Steel dropkicks Jorge in the face.
    - Steel with a suicide dive through the ropes to the outside on Jorge.
    - Steel throws Priscilla down.
    - Jorge pulls off a DDT after bouncing off the ropes on the outside.
    - Jorge misses a moonsault in the ring.
    - Steel splashes Jorge.
    - Jorge crotched on top rope.
    - Steel hits a superplex for a 2 count.
    - Jorge hits some clotheslines and then the two wrestlers do a bunch of reversals.
    - Priscilla grabs Steel’s foot as he’s coming off the ropes.
    - Jorge rolls him up for the win.

    Winner: Jorge Estrada

    After the match Steel jumps Jorge and Priscilla jumps Mortimer Plumtree.

    The sluts get to the dancin’.

    In-Ring Promo

    Syxx-Pac comes to the ring and goes on about why he lost the title. He then calls out Lawler saying they can have a match and the winner gets to have April. Lawler says that Syxx-Pac can have April, because he saw them kissing and he didn’t like it. April says she loves Lawler and was forced to kiss Syxx-Pac against her will. Lawler then goes bonkers and attacks Syx-Pac.

    More of the sluts in those cages.

    Match 8

    The Truth vs. Curt Hennig
    NWA Championship Match


    - Hennig with an ass-buster.
    - Hennig dominates the match early on with chops and a neck-breaker.
    - The fight goes to the outside, and Hennig gets slammed into the ring post.
    - They fight on the broadcast booth, and The Truth is in control.
    - The Truth crotches himself on the guard rail.
    - Hennig with some chops and punches.
    - The Truth chokes Hennig with a cable.
    - The Truth beats on Hannig with some punches.
    - The action goes back to the ring.
    - The Truth hits a leg drop from the top for a 2 count.
    - Truth with an axe kick, then a diving fist on Hennig for a 2 count.
    - Truth with an eye rake on Hannig.
    - Truth with a modified pancake off the ropes for a 2 count.
    - Hennig with some chops.
    - Truth with a flying forearm smash, followed by a futile taunting pin.
    - Hennig with a leg submission, but The Truth gets to the ropes.
    - They both trade some chops.
    - Hennig with a back body drop.
    - Mr. Wrestling III (some dude with a white mask and jump suit) interferes.
    - Hannig beats him down and attempts to un-mask him!
    - The Truth sneaks in behind Hennig and nails him with some brass knuckles for the 3 count!

    Winner: Ron “The Truth” Killings

    End of Show.

    Following the show a brief promo is shown announcing that the “evil” will return on 10/30/02.
